Sultan Center Haul (June)

I was out with the kids again and the youngest was misbehaving. I was already dead tired, but I’ve kinda’ made it a point to dole out swift, if not immediate punishment, when it comes to the kids (so they remember). As such, I dropped her off at home and went right back outside, taking the other two along with me. The youngest was visibly upset at being left out, as intended.

Anywho, I’ve been meaning to get the older two started on wearing antiperspirant/deodorant regularly. They participate in all sorts of water-related activities at Summer Camp, from “Swimming Day” to “Foam Football” (Soccer for the Americans) to regular “Sports Day” all of which involved them showering afterwards over there, and then I get them to shower again back at home, before bed (well, except the eldest, who only washes her body regularly, but her hair every other day, because I don’t think her hair can handle daily washing). Despite the constant showers, the kids can smell a bit… ripe. Also, it’s shaping up to be an exceptionally hot Summer in Kuwait.

So I took them to Sultan Center (Salmiya) where they each got to pick out their own Deodorant. We also stocked up on some snackage (some healthy, but mostly not) and on our way back home, despite being way past their bedtime, decided to made a quick stop at the McDonald’s Drive-Thru on Gulf Road and treat each of them to an Oreo McFlurry (knowing full well that they were going to go back and gloat about it to their younger sister). It was around 2:30am at this point, and yet the beach was packed with families just hanging out! Even the McDonald’s Kiddie Playground (outside) was crowded with kids (of all ages) running around, as happy as you please.

Back home, the youngest was so upset at being left out (most definitely imagining that her brother and sister were out having all kinds of fun, while she was stuck at home) that she chose to stay up and wait for us. As soon as we walked in with bags of groceries snackage, her eyes widened like saucers and she proceeded to grill her siblings about where they’d gone, what they’d done, etc… The eldest did not miss this opportunity to answer with great relish. It’s been weeks, but the youngest hasn’t misbehaved since!

Carrefour Haulage (December)

I just happened to be in the vicinity (because I usually park my car in the underground parking lot) and figured I’d replenish my stock of Beef Jerky. One thing led to another and I ended up with… dis. To be fair, I can’t find Beef Jerky anywhere else, other than Carrefour, which is why I buy the stuff in bulk (Avenues isn’t exactly around the corner from my place). Also, our local co-op is always out of whichever coffee drink I happen to enjoy at the time, so that’s why I buy a pack or two at a time.

Sultan Center Haul #5

Towards the end of Ramadan, I decided to check out the Salmiya branch of Sultan Center, for a change. Unfortunately, I got a lot of unwanted attention from the younger set (so thirsty!) which just reminded me why I so rarely visit the Salmiya branch. I mean at Souk Sharq, I pretty much shop in peace (bar one or two minor incidents). However, at the Salmiya branch, I’d end up with a few stragglers trailing behind me the whole time I’d be there and they’d be mumbling the most random things at me! Despite getting absolutely ZERO encouragement from me, they’d even feel the need to give me their input! When I grabbed the KitKat Peanut Butter Bar, one guy was like “No, no, you don’t want that. Trust me, go with the Original“, which despite my best efforts, actually made me laugh (because no one had even asked him for his opinion)!

In my efforts to, y’know, live to see another day (full deets here), I managed to snag a few of the more “healthy” snacks (lawl) as you can clearly see. They’ve actually got a ton of cool items over at the Salmiya branch of Sultan Center, but I avoid the place because whenever I do go, it always happens to be crowded, and I personally prefer to hoard shop in peace.

Sultan Center Haul #3

On April 15 Sultan Center (Souk Sharq) beckoned me yet again with its siren call and I ended up getting even more snackage! Honestly, I just wanted more of those Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Cookies, but couldn’t find any. So, I kinda’ went ham and overdid it with the other stuff. In my defense, they just had so many (relatively) new snacks!

Soap and Glory

I promised that I’d be reviewing some Soap & Glory products a good while ago but ended up deciding to just lump everything together into one post, and so here we are.

I really don’t like this brand… I always get suckered into buying their products based on the adorable packaging (all pink and cutesy, with vintage glam pin-up models), funny product names, and tongue-in-cheek blurbs and excerpts, only to end up being disappointed by the performance of the actual product. To be fair, the products generally do what they’re supposed to do, just not in the way that I prefer. I also find most of their scents to be downright vile, particularly Original Pink fragrance which seems to be featured in most of their products. Although the Original Pink fragrance is loved by many, I find it too floral-y and perfume-y for my taste. Their prices aren’t exactly budget-friendly either, especially when you factor in the sub-par performance of most of their products.

I’ve mostly tried some Bath & Body Products, some Skincare Products, but aside from a single Lipgloss (purchased online via Drugstore.com) I haven’t really delved much into their Beauty Products. I’ve also got a handful of Minis (from the KD 1/000 “bargain bins” at Boots), and some products that came in a Holiday Set (that they come out with during every Holiday Season). So, I feel like I have a good selection of products here to form a valid opinion. You can purchase Soap & Glory products at Boots.

Skittles

Skittles has got to be hands-down my all-time favorite candy of life! I absolutely love the way they taste! I also like the fact that they come in five different colors and flavors; Red/Strawberries, Orange/Oranges, Yellow/Lemon, Green/Green Apple, and my personal favorite Purple/Grape. It became a huge thing when they switched Lime for Green Apple and it seriously upset a lot of people. Obviously, I wasn’t one of those people because I absolutely adore Green Apple artificial or otherwise. The scent of an open bag of Skittles smells mouth-wateringly good to me! That’s why I tend to reference Skittles a lot when I’m reviewing flavored or scented beauty products. I love the scent and taste of Skittles!
