Boots Hair Care Haul (August)

– Umberto Giannini “Mermaid Hair” Volume Mousse
– Soap&Glory “Junk The Gunk” Deep Cleansing Shampoo
– Umberto Giannini “Beach Care” Coconut Oil Conditioner
– Umberto Giannini “Pool Proof” Leave-In Hair Protection Cream
– Soap&Glory “Control Sleek” Heat-Activated Smoothing Cream
– Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Express Blow Dry Primer

Boots (Avenues) had a “Buy 3, Get 3 Free” promo going on, around the beginning of August. Since my latest obsession seems to be Hair Care, I decided to take advantage of that opportunity and snag some things from the newBeach Collection” from Umberto Giannini. I also got some stuff from the all new Hair Care Range from Soap&Glory and just the one thing from Charles Worthington.

I didn’t do any “research” beforehand and just grabbed stuff based on the cutesy packaging and fun names, and what they claimed to do. As such, I found some of them kinda’ disappointing. That said, I’m not about to open up all of them in one go (not that crazy) so I’ve only gotten around to using 3 out of the 6, for now.

Garnier Ultra Doux 5 Plants Vitalizing Shampoo

5 Plants Vitalizing Shampoo
Real infusion of vitality and enjoyment for normal hair that is weak and tired. The new shampoo Garnier Ultra Doux draws the essence of 5 natural plants selected for their complimentary benefits:

  • Green Tea known to be a source of vitality
  • Lemon known to bring shine
  • Eucalyptus for its refreshing nature
  • Nettle known for its anti-sebum properties, and for making the hair lighter
  • Vervain well known for its softening and soothing characteristics

Its melting gel, silicon-free texture, respects your hair needs for use on a daily basis without weighing it down. Its fragrance which is combined with green fresh notes provides a feeling of well-being.

I keep seeing these new(er) Ultra Doux Shampoo and Conditioners by Garnier, in stores all over the country. I’ve been meaning to try them out for quite some time now, but could never make up my mind on which ones to get. Off the top of my head, I remember seeing one featuring Honey that came in correlating yellow packaging, another featuring Olive Extracts in correlating green packaging, and another in brighter green packaging featuring 5 Plants (Lemon, Green Tea, Eucalyptus, Nettle and Verveine). For some reason, the 5 Plants line has several variations on its name (depending on the region, mayhaps?) for example, Vitalizing Shampoo (which is what I got) is also called Vitality Shampoo in some countries and Revitalizing Shampoo in others. Even Ultra Doux is called Ultra Blends in some regions and something completely different in others. Regardless of what it’s called, the Ultra Doux range is paraben-free and silicon-free (for those who worry about that kinda’ thing). I purchased Garnier Ultra Doux 5 Plants Vitilizing Shampoo (hauled here) from Sultan Center awhile ago and will definitely be repurchasing it again and again and again…

Boots Expert Build Up Removal Shampoo

I first hauled this Build Up Removal Shampoo from the Boots Expert Hair Care line at Boots here. I knew next to nothing about this Shampoo but since they were having Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) deal, I decided to give it a try solely based on the name. Little did I know how dependent I’d grow to be on this Shampoo!

Head & Shoulders Green Apple Shampoo

Let me preface this by saying I know that Head & Shoulders is pretty much synonymous with dandruff. However, I thankfully do not suffer from dandruff. I purchased this dandruff fighting shampoo because I figured I could use it as a clarifying shampoo (to remove product build-up). I figure if it’s formulated to get rid of dandruff from people’s scalps, then why not use it to remove product build-up (dry shampoo, hairspray, serum, leave-in conditioner, etc…) from my scalp? Pretty clever, right? I know, I know. In fact, I was patting myself on the back, right after purchasing this huge thing of shampoo (I wanna say 2 Kuwait Dinars and some change but the price washed off in the shower so I’m not too sure) and it is huge at 420mL/14.2 FL OZ.

Boots BOGO Haul

I was at the Souq Sharq Boots branch when I noticed that they were having a Buy One Get One Free deal (aka BOGO) on certain brands. My favorite nail polish remover (reviewed here) was almost out so I was at Boots to replenish my supply but unfortunately they were out of stock. As I was leaving the store, this shampoo caught my eye. All I had to read was Build up Removal and I was sold so I quickly grabbed two. Boots Expert Build Up Removal Shampoo was only KD 1/750!

Since for some reason, I always run out of conditioner much faster than shampoo I decided to grab a huge thing of conditioner (500ml). I can’t remember how much Inecto Pure Coconut Conditioner cost but I usually like coconut-scented products, plus this was paraben-free.

Just to clarify, at Boots, its not like I got all 4 and the two lower priced items were free. I payed KD 1/750 for the shampoo and got the other shampoo for free. I payed the full price for one conditioner, and got the other conditioner for free. If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know that I’m obsessed with build up removal hair care so I’m super excited about the shampoo! As always, reviews to come.

Lush Big Shampoo

IMG_1435

Over half the base of Big Shampoo is made with sea salt, giving massive volume to hair in need of a boost. Sea salt is also full of minerals and de-greases hair, removing dead skin cells and dirt without stripping natural oils for a fresh, squeaky clean feeling. We balance the sea salt with seaweed infusion, extra virgin coconut oil and avocado butter for soft, nourished locks. Finally, fresh citrus juices are squeezed in for incredible shine. It’s no wonder this one is a best-seller!

Boots Sun Swim and Gym

SAM_2071

I picked these up from Boots awhile ago because as I mentioned before I’ve really gotten into swimming again. It’s fun, relaxing, and really good exercise. I don’t really have colored hair anymore as I cut it all off but the fact that it had Sun Swim & Gym in the name intrigued me which is why I got both the shampoo and conditioner without even reading the back. The previous shampoo I was using (which I’ve mentioned here) did nothing for my hair so I passed it along to someone else and went back to using this again (I’ve been using it all summer especially when I was swimming during Ramadan).
