Cosmo Place + Toy Story 4

I was going for a “candid photo” and ended up with dis lol Just roll with it.

Sunglasses: Louis Vuitton Aviators
Top: Mango Dark Heather Grey Printed Message T-Shirt (haulage here)
Jeans: H&M Light Grey Denim Super Skinny Low Jeans (haulage here)
Socks: Next Grey Leopard Print Socks
Shoes: Adidas Kanadia Trail Running Shoes in Dark Shale/Silver/Rave Pink (purchased from Shoes.com via Amazon.com in 2010)

Despite the fact that I was still traumatized from the time I took them to see Aladdin (full gory details here), I’d promised the kids that I’d take them to the movies to see Toy Story 4. We’d already watched 1-3 on Netflix like I’ve mentioned earlier (Popcorn Paragraph), so everything was still fresh for us. Plus, “Summer Camp” was over and the poor devils were getting restless.

Side… Braid

Hair Tie: Blue Stars (from local equivalent of the dollar store)
Sunglasses: Louis Vuitton Aviators (to “hide” my identity… and all my deep dark secrets)
Top: Express Maroon/Navy Camo Shirt (before the Avenues branch of Express closed down)

So, other than straightening my hair (using my trusty National Hot Air Brush) and then curling the ends (using my Rodeo Drive Beauty Curling Wand), I’ve taken to adding a mini side-braid.

I say I, but what I really mean is our housekeeper (who hails from the Philippines) or my 12 year old niece (who is somehow, better at braiding hair than I am, because I’m pretty much hopeless when it comes to anything hair related).

I don’t clip it back or tie it up or whatever. I will however wrap the the ends of the braid around my curling iron, so it blends in with the rest of my already curled hair, but that’s pretty much it. I just sorta’ let it do its thing.

The main issue I seem to face is finding Hair Ties that are small enough to wrap around the smaller braid, because even the teeny-tiny Blue Stars Hair Tie that I’m wearing (“borrowed” from my niece) had to be wrapped around my hair multiple times. I distinctly remember purchasing a tin or two, of those mini Hair Ties (in Clear and Black) at some point, but they’re nowhere to be found and I don’t even remember where I bought them from. I’d totally use rubber bands instead, except those are pretty painful to remove.

That said, a mini side-braid (which is about as “intricate” as my hairstyles get) is extremely low maintenance. You just braid your hair (or in my case, get someone more competent to braid it) and then forget about it! As opposed to certain hairstyles that fall apart as soon as you so much as blink at them, this thing is totally touchable, and even swimmable and roughhouse-able too!

Also, depending on how I accessorize it, I feel like it can be pretty versatile! Paired with Denim/Leather (during Winter obvi.) and it’s grungy! Pop on some Feathers or Seashells, instant Bohemian Vibe! Worn to the beach/pool with a Swimsuit/Bikini, it’s fun and playful! Paired with a Skirt/Dress, it’s frou-frou (blech) and girly. Peeking out of a Baseball Cap paired with matching Trainers, it’s sporty! Worn with casual business attire, it’s unexpected (maybe?) and cool (deffo’)!

That’s why I’ve really been enjoying sporting a mini side-braid!

I cut my hair!!!! Well… technically, I was at the salon and the hairstylist cut my hair. I was taking my nieces to get their herr did at the salon for Eid and it was taking forever, so I plopped down in one of the chairs, and on a whim, asked the hairstylist to chop all my hair off! Incidentally, the woman who cut my hair didn’t speak a lick of English nor Arabic, only Turkish, and literally the only word I know in Turkish is tuz which means salt, so we had to basically communicate using over-exaggerated gestures and a lot of pointing, but we got there, eventually.

Girl’s Not Grey

Sunglasses: Louis Vuitton Aviators (can you tell by now that these are my favorite? lol)
Earrings: Call It Spring Gunmetal Triangle Stud Earrings
Top: Zara Grey Muscle Tee
Jeans: H&M Dark Denim Blue Rugged Rinse Shaping Skinny Jeans
Bag: Milano Padlock Black Leather Cross-Body Micro Bag (purchased from Debenhams)
Shoes: Multi-Color Bandage Wrap Sandals (purchased from one of the open-air vendors in Thailand)

I was supposed to get my picture taken so I could renew my passport and get issued a new driver’s license (‘cuz I lost my old one and kinda’ needed a new one asap because I’d gotten into a fender-bender). I didn’t wear any makeup except for the Givenchy Lip Balm (haulage here) and no jewelry apart from a pair of delicate stud earrings. When the guy took my photo, I was like “Who is this monster?” (kidding! The flash on the camera – or maybe it was just his camera settings – washed me out and I’ve already got sallow skintone, to begin with, so I looked pretty sickly). I told him to trash the photo and that I’d just come back later. The “plan” was to put a little bit of makeup on, for next time, but somehow, I ended up with a “beat face” (I blame RuPaul’s Drag Race)!

So, I’m somewhat of an Anglophile. I love British Telly! In fact, one of my favorite movies of all time is Green Street Hooligans (based on football hooliganism). I also enjoy watching everything from Sherlock and Black Mirror to Outlander and The Inbetweeners. Honestly, everything just sounds better with an accent. I simply adore the London accent (Cockney Rhyming Slang) and literally everything the main lead said in the movie The Kingsman sounded ridiculously cool to me, but I’m quite partial to a Geordie accent as well. There was this one show (discontinued, I believe) called Aliens… My God, it had me in hysterics from the on-set and throughout! British humor just slays me! It’s so dry and witty and I love it!

With that being said, I’m completely, hopelessly and wholeheartedly obsessed with British Reality TV Shows! I recently became a huge fan of Big Brother (UK), but I’ve watched Geordie Shore and The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent and so on, from the very start. You name it, I’ve watched it. My current drug of choice is a reality show called Love Island. It’s like a train-wreck that I just can’t look away from, so… pretty much crack! I’ve got a handful of Brit friends (in Kuwait) who actually can’t stand that stuff. Another thing I find fascinating about the Brits is their attitude! I’ve come across several large groups of Brits while abroad, and they always seem to be in a jovial mood (granted they were three sheets to the wind), and they’d literally break out into song, out of nowhere! I come across a lot of Brits online (Xbox One) as well, and their sense of humor is the best! I’ve been to the UK about 4-5 times and I’ve enjoyed every single trip, so far! For all those reasons above and more (but I won’t go too much into it now) I classify myself as somewhat of an Anglophile.

Safari Style

Aviators: Louis Vuitton
Earrings: Call It Spring
Bracelet: Call It Spring
Watch: Aldo
Shirt Dress: H&M (haulage here)
Thong Sandals: H&M

Another Outfit of the Day post, except it was in the same day as my last Outfit of the Day post (I really am terrible at this) and I only switched out the Kaftan for a Dress and my Heels for Flats, so I could go out in the evening. I’m wearing the Shirt Dress (hauled here) that I got for my imaginary Safari Trip. Look at how cool it looks on the model in the photo and then compare it to how it looks on me and my 5’1 frame lawl That said, I like the H&M Olive Green Shirt Dress and that’s all that matters, right? (Right!) It took me a beat to find appropriate footwear, but in the end I settled on the H&M Thong Sandals. Now all I need is a Topless (convertible?) Jeep, to complete the look ^_~
