From high-end to drugstore, all the mascaras I’ve been trying seem to be complete misses for me lately. I’m tired of all these mediocre mascaras, so I figured it was high time I just go ahead and repurchase one of my faves, Origins GinZing Mascara (previously reviewed here). At $20.50 a pop (used to be $19.50), it’s not exactly inexpensive, but I’ve spent double (if not triple) that amount already on mediocre mascaras, so I’m more than willing to shell out 20 bucks on a tube (or 2) of my tried and true favorite!
Origins also came out with a whole bunch of Flower Fusion Sheet Masks ($7 a pop) each targeting specific skincare concern and I chose just one for now (Orange Radiance-Boosting Sheet Mask) to try out. It’s not shown because they shipped it separately (and I got charged by Aramex for a whole shipment that only contained a single sheet mask -_-). Anyways, as an added bonus, I got to pick out a handful of samples, including a mini version of Origins GinZing Mascara! I placed this order on December 29 2017 and it arrived shortly after (minus the Sheet Mask which arrived much, much later). The total for this order was $52.26 (about KD 16). Lastly, I signed up for the Origins Rewards Program and apparently for every $1 spent you get 10 points!
I’m not as vocal about it on my blog (even though I kinda’ mentioned it before, here) but I’m actually very obsessed with Brow Products (and equally as obsessed with Mascara and Blush and Bronzers and Highlighters and Eyeshadows and more recently Lip Balm… so pretty much all Makeup lawl) One of my first Brow Products was the Benefit Brow Zings (purchased from VaVaVoom at Marina Mall) which I got in the darkest shade available and only applied once, but was sufficiently mortified with the result, enough to gift it to someone else, first chance I got!
That incident scarred me enough to not bother with Brow Products again for years and years, up until I purchased an Anastasia Brow Kit (from Beauty.com around 2008) which came with Tweezers, Eyebrow Scissors, the infamous Brow Gel, as well as some other products including Eyebrow Stencils (OMG, remember those? They were a “thing” back then. Bwahahaha), all housed in a small pink pouch. Then, I tried the It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Pencil, but was too young to actually know what I was doing. After that, I tried the Maybelline Define-a-Brow (reviewed here) and promptly fell in love! Unfortunately, it has since been discontinued. My love affair with Brow Products however is still on-going!
As such, I decided to purchase a few Brow Products, among other things, directly from the It Cosmetics website. I also got 3 additional Travel Size Products that came in a little drawstring pouch, as a free gift with purchase (spend X amount to qualify for the Free Travel Set) in addition to 3 one-time-use Samples. My order was $94.50 (US Dollars) in total.
Sephora got a whole bunch of NEW MAKEUP BRANDS!!!! Well, new to Kuwait, at least. In fact, I could only get my hands on them (in the past) by ordering online, and even then not all the brands were easily accessible. During my visit to Sephora, I noticed that they had Anastasia (which I used to order from Beauty.com back in 2007 before all the hype) and Tarte (also ordered from Beauty.com only much later, around the time when they first introduced the Amazonian Clay Blush) and Becca (never owned anything from this brand before, but I’ve been dying to try the Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighters) and Kat Von D (never got a chance to order anything from this brand before either, but apparently everyone loves their Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks), just to name a few. They also sectioned off a whole area focused on skincare with the usual brands, some newer brands, and brands I’ve never even heard of before. Just before the cash register, they had an entire shelf dedicated to Face Masks and Scrubs (namely GlamGlow but there were some other brands including Peter Thomas Roth and Starskin). Best of all, when you queue in line at the check-out counter, instead of it being a straight line, it’s now more of a zigzag, with shelves on either side, chock-full of travel-sized minis of their most-loved and best-selling products!
I got a really cool Makeup Brush from Becca, and one of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks from Kat Von D in an absolutely stunning shade, but while waiting my turn at the new zigzag-y queue, couldn’t resist snatching up yet another travel-sized GlamGlow product. As intended, the zigzag-y queue is meant to sucker us into buying even more products before we leave Sephora. Myself as well as others will probably fall victim to the adorable travel-sized minis at the zigzag-y queue, many times over. So… kudos, Sephora, for your ploy has succeeded!
