Towards the end of the year, everything was significantly reduced in price at the US Bath & Body Works so I had to place an order with them.
I could get as creative as I wanted with my Eyeshadows and Eyeliner, but it was effectively pointless if my lashes were not on point.
That’s why I decided to revisit an old-school favorite (reviewed here)!
Rather than purchase it from a third-party seller, I decided to check out the official Eyeko website.
As luck would have it, apparently Eyeko were having this promo at the time (if you spent $40 online you got a Free Gift).
The Free Gift was the Lash Alert Cushion Curler & Lash Alert Mascara Duo (Worth $28.00) which retails for $25
Like I said in my post Chef LuLu Part 8 (here) an ex-friend (Mera) took me to Sephora on November 29 2020 to make up for ambushing me earlier.
I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d been to Sephora!
I was so happy to be back!
There were so much to look at, new brands, new products and new potential holy grails! There were all kinds of Gift Sets and Value Sets as well!
Not 5 minutes in, Mera started whining about being hungry.
I’d asked her if she’d picked up the Nars Blush that she’d wanted. Her reply was that she was so hungry and no longer interested in buying anything (which I suspected was her intent from the start).
She kept nagging and nagging, but I ignored her and eventually she just bounced lol
She said she’d go ahead of me to The Cheesecake Factory and I could just meet up with her afterwards.
Glad to be rid of her, I hurriedly agreed, but in hindsight, what she did was not cool.
She kept calling me and nagging me to come over but I ignored her. I wasn’t gonna’ cut my first visit to Sephora in such a long time short, for her.
However, I did pick up the Nars Blush (KD 13) that she’d wanted, to surprise her.
As for myself, I’d barely bought any Makeup in 2020, due to my health issues (heart palpitations), but by the end of the year I’d learned how to handle it and quite frankly, I had missed Makeup!
I walked outta’ there with two shopping bags (to make up for lost time lol)!
I got my first Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette which was reduced from KD 39 to KD 23/250
I also got the Too Faced Natural Eyes Neutral Eye Shadow Palette (which I’d been lusting after, ever since my Spotted at Sephora post, here) which was reduced from KD 13/750 to KD 9/500
I couldn’t help but get the Kat Von D Walnut Brow Struck Dimension Powder which was meant for the brows, but I thought would make a beautiful eyeshadow! Plus, it was reduced from KD 8/500 to KD 3/250
Those were the only discounted items I got, whereas I payed full price for the rest.
It wasn’t just all Makeup though.
It was mostly Skincare, with a few Hair Care items, Body Care and even a Perfume Mist.
On Nov 26 2020 Mera and I went to Hamra Tower.
We were there because I’d finally tracked down a seller of the elusive pair of Jordan 1’s that I’d had my eye on!
After I tried on a few pairs and figured out the whole sizing thing, I placed an order for the actual pair that I wanted (pics of us here).
Afterwards, we took a quick walk around the mall and popped into Lush for a small haul before heading towards Al Mubarakia to have dinner at Habra (after several failed attempts lol because I’d been dying to eat there again)!
Rush (Signature Collection) – Velvet Petals (Signature Collection) – Jasmine Noir (Midnight Blooms Collection) – Afterparty Angel (Fashion Show Collection) – Glitter Hustle (Disco Nights Collection) – Shot of Coconut (Juiced Collection)
Like I said in my previous post (here), they brought out all the Limited Edition Collections of the past year (Fashion Show Collection – Angel Collection – Disco Nights Collection, etc…) and knocked them down to half price, whereas the Signature Collection (permanent and can be purchased at any time from any branch) in the old-school packaging (Love Spell – Pure Seduction – Aqua Kiss, etc…) as well as all the newer collections (Cozy Collection – Midnight Blooms Collection – Star Struck Collection, etc…) retailed for KD 7 (full price) but were included in a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” promo.
I ended up getting 2 from the Signature Collection (plain packaging) for KD 7 each, qualifying me for a third one, either from the Signature Collection or any of the newer collections (for free) so I chose Jasmine Noir (newer collection). The other 3 (Afterparty Angel – Glitter Hustle – Shot of Coconut) were not included in the “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” promo, since they were from older collections, but they had all been reduced to only KD 3/500 each. As you can see from the plain packaging, the first two (Rush + Velvet Petals) were from Signature Collection (permanent), whereas the rest were all Limited Edition.
I had a wonderful time sniffing and playing around with all those Fragrance Mists! I could’ve stayed there forever! Best of all, the sales assistants left me alone (to play in peace), for the most part, because they were so busy with other customers!
ELF (Eyes Lips Face) were having a 20% off $20 and 30% off $30 and 40% off $40 and 50% off $50 promo going on (the promo excluded the newest of new releases though), towards the end of November and start of December. I jumped on that deal and ordered a few things that based on my previous experience, probably wouldn’t survive shipping during the Summer (it can get up to 50 Celsius/131 Fahrenheit over here).
Despite being billed for them and also redeeming my “Beauty Points” (part of ELF’s loyalty program) several items were missing from my order. I didn’t bother contacting ELF though, because even if they did ship the missing items separately, the shipping itself would cost more than the actual items. It just wasn’t cost effective.
Regardless, I managed to get my hands on some things that I’ve been meaning to purchase for a good long while now, but was holding back because of the price. I got some Skincare and Foundation (in several shades), Brow Stuff (in several shades), a few Lip Things and even fewer Makeup Brushes and a ton of Blushes and Bronzers and Highlights all for half price! The total was $132 which is slightly more than I would’ve preferred to have spent, but I also feel like I saved more in the long run (logic)! I kinda’ went crazy (which is usually the case when ELF knocks their prices down to half off), but 50% off was just too good to pass up!
I don’t want no mediocre
I don’t want no mediocre
I don’t want no mediocre, no
From high-end to drugstore, all the mascaras I’ve been trying seem to be complete misses for me lately. I’m tired of all these mediocre mascaras, so I figured it was high time I just go ahead and repurchase one of my faves, Origins GinZing Mascara (previously reviewed here). At $20.50 a pop (used to be $19.50), it’s not exactly inexpensive, but I’ve spent double (if not triple) that amount already on mediocre mascaras, so I’m more than willing to shell out 20 bucks on a tube (or 2) of my tried and true favorite!
Origins also came out with a whole bunch of Flower Fusion Sheet Masks ($7 a pop) each targeting specific skincare concern and I chose just one for now (Orange Radiance-Boosting Sheet Mask) to try out. It’s not shown because they shipped it separately (and I got charged by Aramex for a whole shipment that only contained a single sheet mask -_-). Anyways, as an added bonus, I got to pick out a handful of samples, including a mini version of Origins GinZing Mascara! I placed this order on December 29 2017 and it arrived shortly after (minus the Sheet Mask which arrived much, much later). The total for this order was $52.26 (about KD 16). Lastly, I signed up for the Origins Rewards Program and apparently for every $1 spent you get 10 points!
