I turned 36! Coulda’ sworn I was turning 37 (I’m bad at math lol) but after a certain point, does it really matter?
Aside from our usual go-to Birthday Cake from Cake’d my favorite cousin also sent over a cute little Cake! May surprised me with a Unicorn Brush Set and some Face Masks with a beautiful Birthday Card using our special language which we created (we had a lot of free time as kids lol). Abrar got me a gorgeous bouquet of Red Roses with a Gift Card for an at-home service (Mani-Pedi). The list goes on and on.
My favorite gift was from my younger brother and his wife though (shown in the photo above) which was a rather large basket filled with Baking Tools (everything from a Rolling Pin to a Brownie Pan and much much more)!
I was quite touched by everyone’s kindness! They didn’t have to get me anything but they did and it was just so thoughtful and sweet! ♥
I don’t know why but this seemed easy to me. I was set on making Choux au Craquelin (Cracked Cream Puffs)!
I mixed 1/4 tsp of Salt with 1/2 Cup Sugar and 1/4 Cup Corn Starch and 2 Egg Yolks and 1 Large Egg. I whisked it until the Yellow Mixture turned into a Light Beige (it’s noticeable).
Then, I heated 2 Cups of Milk in a Sauce Pan and added 1 tsp of Vanilla Essence and let it simmer for a few minutes. Next, I poured some of the Milk into the Egg Mix (gradually, so the Egg wouldn’t cook).
Next, I placed the Egg + Milk Mix back on the fire for 5 minutes. Afterwards, I added 4 tbs of Buttah! With the fire off, I stirred the Butter in.
These 3-Wick Candles were from my U.S. B&BW Spring Haul (here).
Typically, 3-Wick Candles retail for $24.50 but these babies had been reduced to $10.50 each.
I picked up the Chocolate Lave Cake 3-Wick Candle during my 1st U.S. B&BW Order (here) and instantly flirted with the idea of getting a backup.
As soon as these babies went on sale, I wanted to get a backup, but something told me to go for two.
Once again, my sixth sense was correct because one of the 3-Wick Candles arrived shattered (with broken glass everywhere). Luckily, I had ordered two!
These Wallflower Fragrance Refills were from my U.S. B&BW Spring Haul (here).
Typically, Wallflower Fragrance Refills retail for $6.50 but these babies had been reduced to $2.50 (Hot Cocoa & Cream) each and $1.62 (Chocolate Lava Cake) each.
Both of these were scents I’d purchased and fallen in love with earlier so as soon as I saw those slashed prices, I had to pounce!
As I said, the U.S. Bath & Body Works Online Store had some pretty good deals all throughout December! They were releasing new products and new deals pretty much on the daily!
The deals at the time of this order:
– Hand Soaps were reduced from $6.50 to $3
– Wallflower Fragrances Duos (2pc) were 3 for $27 (normally $12.50 each)
– Wallflower Fragrances (singles) were 5 for $23 (normally $7.50 each)
– Use code SANTA for 20% Off Entire Order
I decided to pick up a few Wallflower Fragrances and Hand Soaps.
Wallflower Fragrances make my home smell ah-mazing and they were on sale! Win, win.
Hand Soaps tend to smell great too and they were on sale as well ergo good time to stock up!
These are the 3-Wick Candles (forgot to take a group pic, whoops) that I purchased in my 1st US Bath & Body Works Online Order (dis)!
Normally, 3-Wick Candles retail for $24.50 each (around KD8) but they were reduced to $12.50 each (around KD4) during one of the promos.
Not quite sure what’s going on with all the different cardboard packaging, but I don’t really care. As long these suckas reached me intact (unlike our local Bath & Body Works *ahem*), I’m gucci.
Even cooler and unlike the 3-Wick Candles in Kuwait, these babies actually had the fragrance notes listed on the bottom of each Candle!
In the interest of full disclosure, the 3-Wick Candles seriously bumped up my Aramex shipping charges, but whatevs, I earns mah monies so I can does withs it what I wants and I wants Bath & Body Works 3-Wick Candles from the newest Holiday Collection shipped from the United States of America, straight to my doorstep.
Lastly, most of these were new-new so don’t expect to see them in Kuwait anytime soon. They’ll probably be available for purchase in Kuwait towards the end of 2020 (being passed off as “new”). So, once the Holiday 2020 Collection drops in the States, only then will the Holiday 2019 Collection be available for purchase in Kuwait.
Now, on to the pretty!
After seeing the post about the Chocolate Cake from Over Jar on a well-known local blog (linkage here) I figured it would be the perfect way to end Ramadan this year! So I decided to pre-order it via Carriage for Futoor/Iftar (when Muslims break their fast). There were more than a few hiccups along the way. As I’ve stated before, I prefer to pay cash upon delivery (I always carry cash rather than plastic ‘cuz I’m “G” or at least in my mind I am). The cash upon delivery option was blanked out. I could only pay either using a Credit Card or Debit Card (K-net). That in and of itself was one of the many minor inconveniences.
After I filled out all my info and everything, my order still didn’t go through. So I refreshed the page (I was doing all this on my computer) and filled everything out again, only to receive an error message again. I had to call up customer support and although very sweet and kind, their advice was useless (refresh the page and try again). I did this again several times and even tried switching back and forth between paying using my Debit Card (K-net) and Credit Card but still kept getting the error message, so I called up Customer Support again. Their suggestion was to update the app, except I never downloaded the app in the first place and I was actually placing my order from my computer. I thanked the kind lady who kept taking my calls and trying to be helpful and ended the conversation.
In the end, I had my younger brother (who actually had the app on his phone) order the Chocolate Cake instead. The Chocolate Cake was supposed to arrive before 6:00pm. It arrived more than an hour later. It also somehow ended up in a completely different location, which made it take even longer to arrive. In the end, the Chocolate Cake from Over Jar finally found it’s way to me. It was a bit too rich for my taste, but the Chocolate Cake was a huge hit with the fam!
