Victoria’s Secret Haulage

Rush (Signature Collection) – Velvet Petals (Signature Collection) – Jasmine Noir (Midnight Blooms Collection) – Afterparty Angel (Fashion Show Collection) – Glitter Hustle (Disco Nights Collection) – Shot of Coconut (Juiced Collection)

Like I said in my previous post (here), they brought out all the Limited Edition Collections of the past year (Fashion Show Collection – Angel Collection – Disco Nights Collection, etc…) and knocked them down to half price, whereas the Signature Collection (permanent and can be purchased at any time from any branch) in the old-school packaging (Love Spell – Pure Seduction – Aqua Kiss, etc…) as well as all the newer collections (Cozy Collection – Midnight Blooms Collection – Star Struck Collection, etc…) retailed for KD 7 (full price) but were included in a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” promo.

I ended up getting 2 from the Signature Collection (plain packaging) for KD 7 each, qualifying me for a third one, either from the Signature Collection or any of the newer collections (for free) so I chose Jasmine Noir (newer collection). The other 3 (Afterparty Angel – Glitter Hustle – Shot of Coconut) were not included in the “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” promo, since they were from older collections, but they had all been reduced to only KD 3/500 each. As you can see from the plain packaging, the first two (Rush + Velvet Petals) were from Signature Collection (permanent), whereas the rest were all Limited Edition.

I had a wonderful time sniffing and playing around with all those Fragrance Mists! I could’ve stayed there forever! Best of all, the sales assistants left me alone (to play in peace), for the most part, because they were so busy with other customers!

Zara Perfume Haul (19 Fragrances)

Seeing as how popular my previous Zara Perfume posts were (Cashmere Rose is almost always listed in the Top 10 Posts in the side-bar), I picked up a total of x19 Zara Fragrances for around KD 120 to review (but also because I’m kinda’ obsessed with fragrances now and also because I was hoping to find some “hidden gems”). For starters, just like their clothing, Zara regularly comes out with a lot of excellent duplicates or “dupes” of best-selling high-end and designer perfumes.

That said, keep in mind, as with most cheap-y fragrances with a high alcohol content, these do not last as long. As such, most of them were pretty inexpensive (the lowest ranging from KD 4/900 and the highest ranging to KD 10/900)! I’d also like to point out that although certain fragrances might still have the same name, Zara tends to reformulate them (completely switching up the scent) and change the packaging, from year to year. Lastly, these are just my “first impressions” and my opinion is subject to change (so please don’t be offended if you happen to love a certain scent and I don’t).

Sephora Summer Haul (Exchange)

Like I said in my earlier post (here), I went back to Sephora the very next day, to exchange the unsealed Tony Moly Mini Green Apple Lip Balm for a sealed one. Plus, I thought I’d get to pick up the “Brand Gift” that I’d qualified for (accumulating a little over 200 points) only a day before. No such luck. Even the Sephora App didn’t reflect my progress (it still showed that I needed to accumulate 15 points to reach the 200 point mark).

The dude at the check-out counter (same guy from the day before) informed that I need to wait for at least 72 hours (why didn’t he just say that the day before?) for the Sephora App to get updated to reflect my current progress. He also said I needed to wait for either an SMS Message or an E-mail from Sephora (UAE), before being able to actually pick out the “Brand Gift“. He also threw in a few more samples of the Kat Von D Trooper Tattoo Liner (x3) and another Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (in yet another random shade), I suspect in his efforts to appease me (read: so I could hopefully go away and leave him alone lol) at least that’s what I believe.

According to my Sephora App, I only need 15 more points to reach 200 again, and qualify for the next “Brand Gift” (full deets here) or whatever it’s called. Also, I’d just received a text from Sephora that said, “Free Gift with every purchase for Eid“. Plus, the last time I’d been to Sephora was about 6 months ago (free Sephora Birthday Gift, here), so it has been a minute. I figured I might as well pop in to a Sephora, check out what’s new (photos here), grab a few things so I could reach 200 points and get some samples and a “Free Gift” out of it, in the process. All signs were pretty much pointing to… Sephora.

Pick Apple & Peanut Dip

I love Pick! At one point, I believe it used to be called Pick Yo. In any case, I only turned to Pick (way back in the day) because I was craving some Frozen Yogurt… from Pinkberry (except Pinkberry don’t happen to deliver, at least not to my area). In comes Pick to the rescue! Not only do they serve Frozen Yogurt, but they’ve got all kinds of savory snacks as well (which is a must, for me)! At a very reasonable price point too! The owner is a really intelligent guy who is constantly researching new ways to make Pick even better than it already is (despite the fact that Pick is already pretty great)!

Now, I love Peanut Butter (smooth and creamy, never crunchy) and I love Green Apples (as I’ve stated numerous times on this blog). However, it never occurred to me to ever combine the two. So, I tried the Apple & Peanut Dip from Pick on a whim… and was pretty much floating on Cloud 9 after the first bite! At first, the Green Apple Slices tasted a bit strange. Then, I realized that they’d been doused with orange juice or lemon juice or whatever it is that stops Apples from turning brown. Personally, I’d take the odd taste (it’s not that noticeable, really) over a funky looking Apple, any day of the week! Regardless, the Apple & Peanut Dip combo is bomb! So I had some the next day and the next and the next and so on, until I got sick of the stuff and eventually forgot all about it.

With my more recent health issues (full deets here), I had to start putting healthier food in my mouth so I decided to revisit this old favorite. Green Apples are pretty healthy and I figure Peanut Butter is made from Peanuts so they’ve gotta’ be somewhat healthy as well. As you can see, the Green Apples arrive perfectly sliced, while the Peanut Butter (or Peanut Dip, as they call it) comes in a separate container. You just dip the Slice in the Peanut Butter and nosh away! So yummy!

Now, I’m constantly craving a PB Sandwich (minus the jelly, blech) because the Apple & Peanut Dip has actually rekindled my affection for Peanut Butter in general!

Bath and Body Works – Henri Bendel Scented Candles

This is what happens when you try to resist the temptation.

I love things that smell nice! Anything that has a pleasant scent just brings me such joy! Perfume, Shower Gel, Wallflowers, Soaps, Body Lotion, Lip Balm, you name it! Scented Candles, obviously fall into that category. Unfortunately, as Cardi B so eloquently put it, “these expensive” (granted she meant Louboutins, not Candles, but same thing). I mean, even with their usual Buy Two Get One Free “deal”, at KD 7/500 (exactly $25 U.S. Dollars) a piece, it kinda’ adds up. It’s fine if you buy a (as in one, as in single) Scented Candle, every once in a blue moon (for special occasions, birthday gift, whatever) but when you buy several at a time (practically stockpiling them), during every single visit, as I tend to do, it becomes a problem. Especially when you consider the fact that not every scent I buy is a “win” (pitiful throw, burns all weird, smelled nicer in-store, etc…). Factor in my tendency to break them (they literally keep slipping out of my hands), the latest victim being a virtually untouched (as unburnt as Daenarys) Tiki Beach Candle (hauled here) and I’m practically hemorrhaging money (okay, maybe I’m exaggerating… slightly). As such, I decided to boycott Bath & Body Works (as mentioned here).

I stayed away from Bath & Body Works for about 7 or 8 months (since the start of March up until the end of September 2017), before finally caving and going back for some Handsoaps (hauled here). Like someone who’d quit smoking for years, but got sucked right back in, from a single drag on a cigarette, I was back with a vengeance! After forgoing Scented Candles for so long, I kinda’ went cray and overdid it, especially considering these Henri Bendel Signature Candles (why are Henri Bendel Signature Candles being sold at Bath & Body Works again?) were actually KD 10/500 (exactly $35 U.S. Dollars) each, which is pretty steep, but there was a Buy 3 Get 3 Free “deal”, so there’s that. Plus, these are Henri Bendel Candles after all, so there’s that too. Truthfully, if Scented Candles make me happy, in this cold and cruel yet beautiful world, then by God, Scented Candles I will buy!

Boots Fresh & Crisp Apple Hair Care

I was at Boots (Marina Mall) when I picked up this Shampoo and Conditioner Duo. I believe they were also available in Fresh & Fruity Strawberry, Fresh & Nutty Coconut, but not the Fresh & Tingly Mint & Tea Tree. Regardless, I was only interested in the Fresh & Crisp Apple. You could buy them separately (only the Shampoo or only the Conditioner) or mix and match (for example; Apple Shampoo and Coconut Conditioner) or just do what I did and get a matching pair (Apple Shampoo and Apple Conditioner).
