I figured since I’d just recently posted photos of my hair a month after that horrible dye job (dis), why not post photos the day after?

Obviously, I’d seen my hair after that woman had destroyed it, but that was during night-time and in artificial lighting. The morning after, outdoors and in natural sunlight, I took one look at my hair color and let out a colorful stream of expletives. Not to beat a dead horse, but I payed a lot of money for dry and frizzy hair (my hair is still mad at me since that incident) and worst of all, that looked nothing like the ashy-blonde that I’d asked for (and shown them pictures of, from their own Instagram account lol)

It might sound like I might be exaggerating for effect, so I figure a picture is worth a thousand words ergo here ya’ go! That said, it’s not really that big of a deal. It’s just hair. I’m glad I went through with it anyway, because it confirmed the fact that as I’m getting older, I much prefer darker hair on myself.

Khaki Row

Hair Clip: Scünci Tortoise Shell Hair Clip
Sunglasses: Dior Brown Square Sunglasses
Top: H&M Khaki Green Utility Shirt (haulage here)
Trousers: H&M Khaki Green Pull-On Trousers (haulage here)
Shoes: Only Bronze Gladiator Sandals (reviewed here)

I really wanted to feature how cool those Bronze Gladiator Sandals when worn and tried linking the review post (dis) to these photos except… I couldn’t find them. Apparently, I never posted the photos (probably ‘cuz of the horribly quality lol). So, I figured I might as well post them now.

These pics are old (literally a month after the whole bad dye job incident). My hair was still reeling from the aftermath lol

At this point, there should be no disclaimer needed, but I’ll do it anyway. I am absolutely terrible at taking pictures of people (myself included), places and things. If I only posted “perfect” photos, each post would take a year. So, I’ve chosen to sacrifice the pretty, for the sake of time and convenience. In any case, the point of this blog is to share info, such as you can find xyz at this store for this price in this many colors, etc… (and also for me to ramble on lol) and the photos are just a part of it, not the main feature.

Also, the lighting sucks ‘cuz when the house was being rebuilt from the ground up, I insisted on having dimmed lighting in my bedroom, because that’s where my xbox situation is located (like a real adult) and didn’t take into consideration the practicality aspect of it, like getting dressed, putting on makeup, getting mah herr did, reading and finding my way around my own bedroom in general lol

Cosmo Place + Toy Story 4

I was going for a “candid photo” and ended up with dis lol Just roll with it.

Sunglasses: Louis Vuitton Aviators
Top: Mango Dark Heather Grey Printed Message T-Shirt (haulage here)
Jeans: H&M Light Grey Denim Super Skinny Low Jeans (haulage here)
Socks: Next Grey Leopard Print Socks
Shoes: Adidas Kanadia Trail Running Shoes in Dark Shale/Silver/Rave Pink (purchased from Shoes.com via Amazon.com in 2010)

Despite the fact that I was still traumatized from the time I took them to see Aladdin (full gory details here), I’d promised the kids that I’d take them to the movies to see Toy Story 4. We’d already watched 1-3 on Netflix like I’ve mentioned earlier (Popcorn Paragraph), so everything was still fresh for us. Plus, “Summer Camp” was over and the poor devils were getting restless.

Side… Braid

Hair Tie: Blue Stars (from local equivalent of the dollar store)
Sunglasses: Louis Vuitton Aviators (to “hide” my identity… and all my deep dark secrets)
Top: Express Maroon/Navy Camo Shirt (before the Avenues branch of Express closed down)

So, other than straightening my hair (using my trusty National Hot Air Brush) and then curling the ends (using my Rodeo Drive Beauty Curling Wand), I’ve taken to adding a mini side-braid.

I say I, but what I really mean is our housekeeper (who hails from the Philippines) or my 12 year old niece (who is somehow, better at braiding hair than I am, because I’m pretty much hopeless when it comes to anything hair related).

I don’t clip it back or tie it up or whatever. I will however wrap the the ends of the braid around my curling iron, so it blends in with the rest of my already curled hair, but that’s pretty much it. I just sorta’ let it do its thing.

The main issue I seem to face is finding Hair Ties that are small enough to wrap around the smaller braid, because even the teeny-tiny Blue Stars Hair Tie that I’m wearing (“borrowed” from my niece) had to be wrapped around my hair multiple times. I distinctly remember purchasing a tin or two, of those mini Hair Ties (in Clear and Black) at some point, but they’re nowhere to be found and I don’t even remember where I bought them from. I’d totally use rubber bands instead, except those are pretty painful to remove.

That said, a mini side-braid (which is about as “intricate” as my hairstyles get) is extremely low maintenance. You just braid your hair (or in my case, get someone more competent to braid it) and then forget about it! As opposed to certain hairstyles that fall apart as soon as you so much as blink at them, this thing is totally touchable, and even swimmable and roughhouse-able too!

Also, depending on how I accessorize it, I feel like it can be pretty versatile! Paired with Denim/Leather (during Winter obvi.) and it’s grungy! Pop on some Feathers or Seashells, instant Bohemian Vibe! Worn to the beach/pool with a Swimsuit/Bikini, it’s fun and playful! Paired with a Skirt/Dress, it’s frou-frou (blech) and girly. Peeking out of a Baseball Cap paired with matching Trainers, it’s sporty! Worn with casual business attire, it’s unexpected (maybe?) and cool (deffo’)!

That’s why I’ve really been enjoying sporting a mini side-braid!

Youngblood

Accessories: Purple Aviators (most likely purchased at a random convenience store abroad)
Top: H&M Grey Knit Roll Neck Jumper (2017) + H&M Black Faux Leather Biker Jacket (haulage here)
Bottom: Topshop Moto Black Jaime Jeans (haulage here)
Shoes: MIA Midnight Stretch 3 Way Boots (haulage here)

Ironically, now that I could finally fit into those MIA Midnight Stretch 3 Way Boots, they were too old and were literally starting to fall apart (as evident by the shedding all over my bedroom floor, in some of the photos). So, before getting rid of them for good, I decided to wear them for one final hurrah (first and last, rather).

Again, completely inspired by this song (Youngblood), I pulled out my “Negan-esque” H&M Black Faux Leather Biker Jacket and somewhat new Topshop Moto Black Jaime Jeans! Since it was still Winter around the time of this pic, I wore my H&M Grey Knit Roll Neck Jumper underneath (toldja’ I practically live in that thing every Winter) because it was both comfy and cozy! I went out for Sushi (can’t remember the name of the place) where they served ridiculously delicious juice in adorable little shot glasses!

The Boots barely survived the “outing” lol and it was time to finally put them to rest. However, I wanted to take pics of the “3-way” aspect of them, so here we go!

I cut my hair!!!! Well… technically, I was at the salon and the hairstylist cut my hair. I was taking my nieces to get their herr did at the salon for Eid and it was taking forever, so I plopped down in one of the chairs, and on a whim, asked the hairstylist to chop all my hair off! Incidentally, the woman who cut my hair didn’t speak a lick of English nor Arabic, only Turkish, and literally the only word I know in Turkish is tuz which means salt, so we had to basically communicate using over-exaggerated gestures and a lot of pointing, but we got there, eventually.

Girl’s Not Grey

Bag: Milano Padlock Black Leather Cross-Body Micro Bag (purchased from Debenhams)
Shoes: Multi-Color Bandage Wrap Sandals (purchased from one of the open-air vendors in Thailand)

I was supposed to get my picture taken so I could renew my passport and get issued a new driver’s license (‘cuz I lost my old one and kinda’ needed a new one asap because I’d gotten into a fender-bender). I didn’t wear any makeup except for the Givenchy Lip Balm (haulage here) and no jewelry apart from a pair of delicate stud earrings. When the guy took my photo, I was like “Who is this monster?” (kidding! The flash on the camera – or maybe it was just his camera settings – washed me out and I’ve already got sallow skintone, to begin with, so I looked pretty sickly). I told him to trash the photo and that I’d just come back later. The “plan” was to put a little bit of makeup on, for next time, but somehow, I ended up with a “beat face” (I blame RuPaul’s Drag Race)!
