Side… Braid

Hair Tie: Blue Stars (from local equivalent of the dollar store)
Sunglasses: Louis Vuitton Aviators (to “hide” my identity… and all my deep dark secrets)
Top: Express Maroon/Navy Camo Shirt (before the Avenues branch of Express closed down)

So, other than straightening my hair (using my trusty National Hot Air Brush) and then curling the ends (using my Rodeo Drive Beauty Curling Wand), I’ve taken to adding a mini side-braid.

I say I, but what I really mean is our housekeeper (who hails from the Philippines) or my 12 year old niece (who is somehow, better at braiding hair than I am, because I’m pretty much hopeless when it comes to anything hair related).

I don’t clip it back or tie it up or whatever. I will however wrap the the ends of the braid around my curling iron, so it blends in with the rest of my already curled hair, but that’s pretty much it. I just sorta’ let it do its thing.

The main issue I seem to face is finding Hair Ties that are small enough to wrap around the smaller braid, because even the teeny-tiny Blue Stars Hair Tie that I’m wearing (“borrowed” from my niece) had to be wrapped around my hair multiple times. I distinctly remember purchasing a tin or two, of those mini Hair Ties (in Clear and Black) at some point, but they’re nowhere to be found and I don’t even remember where I bought them from. I’d totally use rubber bands instead, except those are pretty painful to remove.

That said, a mini side-braid (which is about as “intricate” as my hairstyles get) is extremely low maintenance. You just braid your hair (or in my case, get someone more competent to braid it) and then forget about it! As opposed to certain hairstyles that fall apart as soon as you so much as blink at them, this thing is totally touchable, and even swimmable and roughhouse-able too!

Also, depending on how I accessorize it, I feel like it can be pretty versatile! Paired with Denim/Leather (during Winter obvi.) and it’s grungy! Pop on some Feathers or Seashells, instant Bohemian Vibe! Worn to the beach/pool with a Swimsuit/Bikini, it’s fun and playful! Paired with a Skirt/Dress, it’s frou-frou (blech) and girly. Peeking out of a Baseball Cap paired with matching Trainers, it’s sporty! Worn with casual business attire, it’s unexpected (maybe?) and cool (deffo’)!

That’s why I’ve really been enjoying sporting a mini side-braid!

Youngblood

Accessories: Purple Aviators (most likely purchased at a random convenience store abroad)
Top: H&M Grey Knit Roll Neck Jumper (2017) + H&M Black Faux Leather Biker Jacket (haulage here)
Bottom: Topshop Moto Black Jaime Jeans (haulage here)
Shoes: MIA Midnight Stretch 3 Way Boots (haulage here)

Ironically, now that I could finally fit into those MIA Midnight Stretch 3 Way Boots, they were too old and were literally starting to fall apart (as evident by the shedding all over my bedroom floor, in some of the photos). So, before getting rid of them for good, I decided to wear them for one final hurrah (first and last, rather).

Again, completely inspired by this song (Youngblood), I pulled out my “Negan-esque” H&M Black Faux Leather Biker Jacket and somewhat new Topshop Moto Black Jaime Jeans! Since it was still Winter around the time of this pic, I wore my H&M Grey Knit Roll Neck Jumper underneath (toldja’ I practically live in that thing every Winter) because it was both comfy and cozy! I went out for Sushi (can’t remember the name of the place) where they served ridiculously delicious juice in adorable little shot glasses!

The Boots barely survived the “outing” lol and it was time to finally put them to rest. However, I wanted to take pics of the “3-way” aspect of them, so here we go!

These Cowboy Boots

Hair Accessories: Scünci Black Hair Clip
Jewelry: Call It Spring Silver Studded Jacket Earrings (2015)
Top: H&M Grey Knit Roll Neck Jumper (2017)
Bottom: Zara Snake Print High Waist Premium Jeans (haulage here)
Shoes: Bearpaw Black Suede and Leather Cowboy Boots (reviewed here)

I found a different spot to take pics for “Lookbooks” and “Outfits of the Day”. However, while the lighting in my bedroom may be dark and insufficient, over here it’s too yellow. Ugh. At least you can actually see the Snake Print on the Jeans lol Speaking of which, color-wise, nothing matched those Jeans! In the end, I settled on my favorite Grey Jumper from H&M (practically live in that thing every Winter)!

Thanks to the cropped hem of the Jeans, none of my Shoes/Boots looked right… so, I went with my Black Cowboy Boots (to keep the hem out of sight). For my lion’s mane, I took a few strands from each side and clipped them back (that’s about as “intricate” as my hairstyles get, lol) and finally for “jewelry”, I popped on some Silver “Jacket” Earrings. Just in case it got colder at night, I threw on my “Anime-esque” Green Double-Breasted Jacket from H&M (haulage here).

When we eventually met up, my favorite cousin ever so kindly pointed out that it looked like I had gotten dressed in the dark and that the only reason this worked was because “thin people could get away with wearing anything”… I stopped listening after she called me “thin”. I mean, clearly I’ve put on some weight – thanks to those ridiculously yummy Hershey’s/Snyder’s Chocolate Pretzels – and those Snake Print Jeans were doing me no favors, but still, it was nice to hear!

My outfit was a bit all over the place but at the time (Winter) I was really into this song (here) which featured dudes in Cowboy Boots, hence… dis! Also, I thought it was a bit too late (and hot) to post this, but my bestie is on vacay in Jordan and according to her snaps, it’s still Winter over there lol

Hair Dye “Touch-Up”

I kept putting it off, until I could put it off no longer lol 6 months or so later, I finally went and got my roots “touched up”.

I was actually more diligent about it, back when I was younger. Now that I’m older, it’s not really that high on my list of priorities lol However, enough was enough. As you can see, my hair looked horrible (the brassiness wasn’t doing me any favors either) so I decided to just get on with it.

FreshLook Honey Contact Lenses

I decided that I’m going to be doing hauls and reviews of all my Colored Contacts, starting with my favorites. The objective of the photos (ideally, they should’ve been way less, lol) is to show how they look in different lighting, and with different makeup and so on.

Also, sorry for the million and one photos. I tried to go through them and delete as many as I could, but the more time passed, the more I had to add other photos of other stuff to the Media Library, for my other posts. It made it difficult to go back and find the photos for this post in the Media Library on my blog. It got to be too much for me and eventually, I just… gave up. Many of the pictures are just awful lol but like I said, I’m so done editing and as such, this is the final product that you guys get lol Hopefully, the photos will be much less in my other posts about my other contacts.

Like I said in my Colored Contact Lenses Post (here), I cut my teeth on FreshLook Green Colored Contacts. They were pretty much the only pair I wore, if I was going to be wearing contacts at all. However, after some time, for whatever reason, I picked up Freshlook Honey Colored Contacts (on a whim) and gave them a try. They were pretty bright and quickly became another favorite of mine!

Back to Blonde (Photo Heavy)

Serving you some Draco Malfoy realness lawl

After spending forever trying to get into my personal Instagram account (I totally forgot my password, which just goes to show how often I actually use the app lawl) to frantically hunt down something appropriate to wear during Ramadan, I kept on receiving those annoying notifications from Instagram on my phone afterwards. I spent weeks ignoring them, but on July 12, I’d finally had enough and tried to disable the notifications through the app itself, which is when an ad for Belleza and more Salon & Spa popped up. I clicked the ad (which took me to their insta account) and immediately my eyes were drawn to the photo shown below.

Translation: Ammonia-free Dye and Bleach… Extra Strength Protection used with every Hair Coloring Session… so the hair does not get damaged and the color remains… vibrant and rich with a beautiful shine to make the hair appear healthy and fresh

As soon as I spotted that gorgeous ash-blonde color (in the After photo) I was obsessed! Seeing as how I’d just chopped off all my hair (pics, here), I was less hesitant about messing with it. Plus, they straight up advertised “ammonia-free dye” and “extra-strength protection”. It seemed legit. Being the impulsive creature that I am, I quickly called them up and made an appointment (30 mins from time of call) to dye my hair!

Serving you some far out 80’s shoulder-padded Powersuit realness!

I cut my hair!!!! Well… technically, I was at the salon and the hairstylist cut my hair. I was taking my nieces to get their herr did at the salon for Eid and it was taking forever, so I plopped down in one of the chairs, and on a whim, asked the hairstylist to chop all my hair off! Incidentally, the woman who cut my hair didn’t speak a lick of English nor Arabic, only Turkish, and literally the only word I know in Turkish is tuz which means salt, so we had to basically communicate using over-exaggerated gestures and a lot of pointing, but we got there, eventually.
