At the Perfume & Makeup Exhibition (photos here), I made a quick stop at the Al Mansour booth and picked up a few things. For the past few years, I’ve really been trying to cut back on buying more makeup (this is me “cutting back” lol), but since these were relatively inexpensive, I figured there was no harm in buying them (the justification never ends lol) and that’s how I ended up spending KD 30 ($100).
There was a very cute Rose Collection display (as shown) and an equally cute Pumpkin Collection (shown below) and a ton of the newer Candle Collections (shown below). Best of all, there was either a Buy One Get One Free promo or a Buy 2 Get 2 Free promo on almost everything. Of course, my beloved Sea-Tox Collection and Water Collection were excluded from the promos, but you can’t win ’em all, I guess.
Another promo that I don’t recall them ever having before, was Buy 2 Get 3 Free on all the Hand Soaps! Naturally, I had to partake. Unfortunately, I had one of the sales assistant on my tail (kept trying to shake her off) and I totally would’ve walked out, except I was already invested (I was absolutely besotted with the Rose Fine Fragrance Mist and Paris Cafe Candle and needed them in my life). Honestly, at one point, I couldn’t help but start giggling to myself. I was a grown woman and yet here I was skittering from corner to corner, trying to avoid the sales assistant (who was another grown woman). The whole situation was a bit absurd.
(Photo nicked off the Mishref Fair Grounds Website).
I try to make it a point to visit the Perfume & Makeup Exhibition at least once a year. The Perfume & Cosmetics Exhibition takes place twice a year (March and then again in Oct-Nov) in Hall 5 and Hall 6 and Hall 8 at Mishref Fair Grounds. As you can see, the Halls are huge! They’ve always got something or other going on there (sometimes simultaneously), year-round! This year, I noticed that they had strung up pretty fairy lights and arranged a seating area somewhere outside, with a ton of trendy pop-ups in cute little shacks that were catering the event, on either side of the seating area! I actually took a handful of pics, but people’s faces were on full display so I can’t show ’em (privacy blah blah blah consent blah blah blah).
Unfortunately, the majority of the halls participating in the Perfume & Cosmetics Exhibition mainly feature Oud and Teeb (Arab Fragrances), with only a smaller portion of booths featuring “French Perfumes” and an even smaller portion featuring Makeup. Heck, one of the Halls (I wanna’ say Hall 7) was reserved solely and entirely for Boutiqaat (at one point, I saw a tumbleweed roll by).
I’ve been going to the Perfume & Makeup Exhibition for
years decades! In fact, even before I used to go there, my mom would get me a Lancome Mascara Gift Set when I was a teen (drugstore brands weren’t as readily available in Kuwait back then). Even just 8 years back, Victoria’s Secret used to participate (here) as did Sephora (here). It’s also where I first spotted China Glaze (here) and Lush (here). Now, it’s so very different (not in a good way) from what it once was…
For centuries, a natural water spring has been running at the heart of the Provence mountains, collecting rich minerals and rising up at the Réotier Spring. Thanks to its high calcium content, this incredible water helps skin maintain its hydration barrier and retain moisture. L’Occitane has paired this powerful Provence water with Hyaluronic Acid in an ultra-hydrating skin care range, for healthy-looking skin.
Discover our NEW thirst-quenching, water-based Aqua Réotier Collection, uniquely formulated with 3 powerful ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, and calcium-rich Réotier Spring Water derived from the mountains of Provence.
I was literally bouncing in place with excitement when I spotted the water-based Aqua Réotier Collection! This collection (the one I hinted at, towards the very end of my previous L’Occitane Samplage post) was the whole reason I was practically stalking L’Occitane every other day! The Aqua Reotier Collection finally arrived to Kuwait (and it only took about… a year since it was released worldwide lol)!
Let’s just get this out of the way first. How pretty is the packaging and the presentation (I mean, that ring of water is absolutely stunning)! Everything is all blue and transparent and just very, very pleasant to look at! And don’t even get me started on those micro-bubbles (so cute, I die!) in some of the products! Okay, now that that’s out of the way…
Raise your hand if you like Bath & Body Works! I do! I do! I do~oo!
Whenever I find myself at the Avenues Mall, I always make it a point, to hit up Bath & Body Works (facing Carrefour Supermarket). From the moment they opened up their first store in the country (here), I’ve been obsessed with Bath & Body Works (they actually retweeted my earliest hauls lol)! I believe I was around 24-25 years old back then and even now as a 33 year old, I’m still just as obsessed with the store! From the sublime beach-y scents (variations of coconut and mango and other exotic fruits that instantly transport you to a tropical island) during Summer, to the divine holiday scents (including the cult-fave Vanilla Bean Noel which was vanilla… on steroids) during Winter! From the delightfully delectable gourmand scents (encompassing macarons and gelato and lemon-y desserts and everything in-between) during Spring, to the intoxicating heady spicy scents (cinnamon and pumpkin everything) during Fall/Autumn! To me, nothing highlights the changing of seasons, quite like the seasonally appropriate Bath & Body Works Collections!
I visited both the Souq Sharq branch and the Promenade branch of Sultan Center on separate days during the month of September, but decided to group them together for this post.
Basically, I keep running out of either the Chunky Salsa (Medium) or Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips (which is all I’ve been craving recently). As long as it’s not Hot (which makes my nose run, eyes water, ears turn red, tongue swell up and lips feel like they’re on fire) nor Mild (which is tasteless), I’m not picky about which brand of Salsa I get. My only prerequisites are that it’s Chunky (with veggies) and Medium (has a kick to it), which is generally easy to find at any branch. Sadly, the Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips are less easy to find (they appear in and out of stock at random), which is why I’m always on a scavenger hunt of sorts (because I never know if they’re in stock or not) at Sultan Center.
With that being said, I’m happy to report that I spotted those delicious Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies (reviewed here) in all the branches! I didn’t get any, because like I said, I’ve only been craving Tortilla Chips and Salsa recently. However, it’s nice to see the Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies available in large quantities. Plus, Chips Ahoy! even partnered up with Microsoft to come up with a little promo featuring one of the games (Sea Of Thieves) on Xbox One. I’ve never heard of that game before, but still, what a fun idea!

I got this as a birthday gift for my cousin’s wife, also from the Soug Sharq branch of Bath & Body Works (so many birthdays at once).
