Also at Soug Sharq, I stopped by Boots. I wasn’t planning on getting anything especially since I literally just bought some makeup-y bits at Debenhams (hauled here), but then I saw that they had so many cool new products and several new brands too.
For starters, they had the SpaWax (stripless wax warming kit) by the brand Veet which I’d been lusting after, ever since I saw one of my favorite YouTubers plugging it in one of her videos… years ago. Second, I noticed two new brands which were House of Lashes (which I’d been dying to try) and GOSH Cosmetics, and even though I don’t particularly enjoy Soap & Glory (reviews here), they had the cutest Gift Set that was shaped like an actual Christmas Cracker, which I just couldn’t resist. Also, they had a Buy Two Get One Free deal on all Hair Care, and my hair was in dire need of some serious TLC. I only got one makeup-y item which was a mascara, but the rest are all personal care, hair care and body care stuff. Plus, they even tossed in a free makeup bag.
I was at Boots (Marina Mall) when I picked up this Shampoo and Conditioner Duo. I believe they were also available in Fresh & Fruity Strawberry, Fresh & Nutty Coconut, but not the Fresh & Tingly Mint & Tea Tree. Regardless, I was only interested in the Fresh & Crisp Apple. You could buy them separately (only the Shampoo or only the Conditioner) or mix and match (for example; Apple Shampoo and Coconut Conditioner) or just do what I did and get a matching pair (Apple Shampoo and Apple Conditioner).
Giovanni Cosmetics is an Eco-friendly, free of Sodium Sulfate (SLS) and free of Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), Phthalates-free, Paraben-free, Vegan brand that does not test on animals. Their Eco Chic Hair Care has a range of lines targeting specific hair care needs. They’ve got Ultra-Sleek (Moroccan Argan Oil + Brazilian Phyto-Keratin), Ultra-Moist (Avocado + Olive Oil), Ultra-Volume (Tangerine Butter + Papaya), Ultra-Luxurious (Cherry Blossoms + Rose Petals), Ultra-Revive (Pineapple + Ginger), Repairing (Blackberry + Coconut Milk), and Frizz Be Gone (Shea Butter + Sweet Almond Oil). I’ve tried the Purifying & Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Towelettes (mostly because of the really cool all-black packaging) from their D:Tox Sytem (Facial Care) purchased from Drugstore.com ages ago but other than that, I’ve never really tried anything from this brand before. That said, I have seen their adorable Flight Attendant Travel Kits being sold at Sultan Center (Salmiya) but since this is a somewhat “natural” brand, I didn’t know how long they’d been sitting out there fore (probably expired). Initially, I only picked up the Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Blow Out Styling Mist but loved the scent of the Ultra-Sleek line so much that I went back and got the Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Flat Iron Styling Mist, Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Body Lotion, and Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Body Wash all purchased from Sultan Center (Soug Sharq). I believe I’ve also seen the Ultra-Volume (orange packaging) and Ultra-Moist (green packaging) available for purchase as well.
I was only at Sultan Center (Salmiya Branch) to pick up yet another Cream Silk (my ride or die hair conditioner) but ended up getting everything else you see in the photo, as well.
I don’t normally shop at Carrefour at the Avenues, but I do tend to park my car in their designated underground parking area quite often. Quite frankly, the Avenues is huge, which makes it easy for people to get lost (just me? okay!) in the underground parking area. That’s why I prefer having someone else (anyone else, really) take me to the Avenues rather than driving myself there. Even after all these years, I still can’t remember which escalator leads up to which area of the mall. They all look pretty much the same to me. That’s why, when I’m not parking outside (Ikea parking or Forever 21 parking), I’ll go for the underground parking at Carrefour. I know what to look for (shopping carts on a flattened escalator), I know where it takes me (to Bath & Body Works and Boots facing Carrefour), and I know how to get back to my car (using the Carrefour escalators as a focal point lawl). In addition to all that, using my phone, I’ll snap a photo of the number on the column (just to be safe). You might think that’s overkill but I actually got lost down there once (whilst wearing uncomfortable shoes). It wasn’t pretty. It felt like I was in Mad Max and it was survival of the fittest! After going around in circles for what felt like hours (30 mins in reality), and when I couldn’t walk any longer (I was dying!) I gave up and plopped down on the nearest sidewalk and prepared my goodbyes. My mom told me to quit whining (no sympathy whatsoever) and get back home because it was getting late. Luckily, they’ve got a protocol in place for this sort of thing at the Avenues. The security guys roaming around the underground parking area have these little golf carts that they can drive you around in, until you find your car! So… anyways, I don’t normally shop at Carrefour but this time instead of zipping past it (on my way to Bath & Body Works and Boots and such), I had time to kill so I decided to browse around for a bit. There wasn’t anything particularly exciting but I did come across Essence in their makeup section, which I thought was pretty cool!
I’m not sure why I decided to give this stuff a sniff in-store (mayhaps it was the bright green?) but ermahgerd it smells divine! There were other scents available such as Zingy Ginger and Orange, Zingy Minty Fresh, and Zingy Zesty Lemon. I passed on the other two but decided to give Zingy Zesty Lemon a sniff because I thought for sure it would smell fantastic, if not better than Zingy Lime Fizz but I was mistaken. Nothing smelled more delicious than Zingy Lime Fizz! Such a ridiculously amazing scent! No joke, Boots Zingy Lime Fizz Shower Gel straight up smelled like the Need a Margarita scent from Bath & Body Works (True Blue Spa range)! Basically, Zingy Lime Fizz smells like Skittles!
I was worried I wouldn’t ever find this stuff again. Luckily, there was a Buy Two Get One Free deal on all the in-house brand (Boots) items, including Zingy Lime Fizz Shower Gel. So, I got three (to tide me over) for the price of two!
Even better was the fact that the Boots Zingy Lime Fizz Shower Gel were only KD 1/000 a pop! So there you go; a budget-friendly alternative for the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash.
