Sultan Center (Shuwaikh) Collective Haul

It was towards the end of summer…

I was starving and I was in a spend-y mood (deadly combination). Now, despite the huge haulage (as evident by the photo above), I was actually very, very, very disappointed with the Shuwaikh branch of The Sultan Center! There were bugs having a party on all the exposed fruits and veggies, fridge doors were left open (meaning the frozen food items like burger patties, seafood, and whatever else were just left to melt), every single tub of ice-cream I picked up was sticky (gross!), the seal was broken on a lot of food items, other food items (an entire row of Lay’s Forno Lemon & Black Pepper Baked Potato Chips in the smallest size) had expired months ago (yet still remained on the shelves), the whole place was a mess! Some areas (with the most traffic) were relatively alright but for the most part, the entire place looked like a scene from Mad Max… lol imagine how much larger this haul would’ve been if I hadn’t been grossed out.

Boots Collective Haul (mostly pink stuff)

Also at Soug Sharq, I stopped by Boots. I wasn’t planning on getting anything especially since I literally just bought some makeup-y bits at Debenhams (hauled here), but then I saw that they had so many cool new products and several new brands too.

For starters, they had the SpaWax (stripless wax warming kit) by the brand Veet which I’d been lusting after, ever since I saw one of my favorite YouTubers plugging it in one of her videos… years ago. Second, I noticed two new brands which were House of Lashes (which I’d been dying to try) and GOSH Cosmetics, and even though I don’t particularly enjoy Soap & Glory (reviews here), they had the cutest Gift Set that was shaped like an actual Christmas Cracker, which I just couldn’t resist. Also, they had a Buy Two Get One Free deal on all Hair Care, and my hair was in dire need of some serious TLC. I only got one makeup-y item which was a mascara, but the rest are all personal care, hair care and body care stuff. Plus, they even tossed in a free makeup bag.

Nivea For Men Shaving Foam

SAM_1017

I’ve mentioned this product in this post (here) but this unsung hero deserves a whole blog post of it’s very own. Again, I’ve tried many, many, many shaving products (ranging from shaving soaps, shaving gels, shaving foam, shaving cream, etc…) from many different brands. The one product I keep returning to, happens to be from Nivea. I’ll stray, from time to time, and try out different products from different brands, but Nivea is one of the brands that offers a pretty decent selection of shaving products, in several forms (foam, cream, gel). Out of the handful of products I’ve tried from them, my favorite by far is Nivea Cool Kick Shaving Foam.

Gillette Blue II Plus Razors (disposable)

SAM_1034

  • Chromium coating for long lasting blades.
  • Lubrastrip with lubricants for added comfort.
  • Soft Ultragrip handle for great control.
  • I’ve mentioned these in the previous post (here) but they deserve a post of their own. Personally, I alternate between shaving and waxing depending on my whim. If my mood is leaning more towards shaving rather than getting a wax, I’ll most probably be using a Gillette Blue II Razor (disposable). These razors have been my favorite by far for the past few years. As I said before, I’m not quite sure if it’s because of the way they are designed but these razors perform fantastically. The Ultragrip handle really does offer great control as it fits comfortably in my grasp which consequentially lessens the chance of mishaps. The Lubrastrip (the little strip designed to react with water) isn’t as slimey as some of the others I’ve used in the past. As for the blades themselves, they result in the closest shave ever and because of the chromium coating, you can re-use the razors and still have the same ultra smooth results. In the interest of full disclosure, I would not recommend them to newbies as they aren’t designed like women’s diposable razors and I actually have cut myself a handful of times with them, when I first started shaving. Readily available at most cooperatives (jam3iyas) in the country and almost every drugstores abroad, these razors come in a pack, and are quite affordable (read: dirt cheap). I always make it a point to have a pack of Gillette’s navy blue disposable men’s razors on hand at all times.

Best shaving tip ever: Use men’s razors (disposable) for the closest shave and best results ever!
