Get rid of the rough stuff
Our fresh and fruity shaving soap will have you dreaming of summer picnics every time you take a whiff. We’ve whipped fresh strawberries and egg whites with moisturizing rosehip oil, cocoa butter and coconut oil into a light, marshmallow-y soap that softens skin when you shave with it. Plus, all those hydrating ingredients keep post-shaving redness to a minimum!
I found it! I found the actual physical Lush store at The Avenues. Technically, my cousin was the one who led me to it. She shops there regularly because she has sensitive skin and Lush products along with L’Occitane are apparently the only products that won’t irritate her skin.
I picked up D’Fluff Strawberry Shaving Soap, Let The Good Times Roll Face and Body Cleanser, King of Skin Body Butter, Popcorn Lip Scrub, and… I dunno’ what the last one is but I found a bunch of them by the cash register so I picked up one for myself and one for my cousin because they smelled lemon-y.
I don’t usually stray from my regular shower gels from Bath and Body Works or The Body Shop as they make me feel squeaky clean and smell great, but the cheerful yellow packaging caught my eye.
I’ve mentioned this product in this post (here) but this unsung hero deserves a whole blog post of it’s very own. Again, I’ve tried many, many, many shaving products (ranging from shaving soaps, shaving gels, shaving foam, shaving cream, etc…) from many different brands. The one product I keep returning to, happens to be from Nivea. I’ll stray, from time to time, and try out different products from different brands, but Nivea is one of the brands that offers a pretty decent selection of shaving products, in several forms (foam, cream, gel). Out of the handful of products I’ve tried from them, my favorite by far is Nivea Cool Kick Shaving Foam.
Chromium coating for long lasting blades. Lubrastrip with lubricants for added comfort. Soft Ultragrip handle for great control.
I’ve mentioned these in the previous post (here) but they deserve a post of their own. Personally, I alternate between shaving and waxing depending on my whim. If my mood is leaning more towards shaving rather than getting a wax, I’ll most probably be using a Gillette Blue II Razor (disposable). These razors have been my favorite by far for the past few years. As I said before, I’m not quite sure if it’s because of the way they are designed but these razors perform fantastically. The Ultragrip handle really does offer great control as it fits comfortably in my grasp which consequentially lessens the chance of mishaps. The Lubrastrip (the little strip designed to react with water) isn’t as slimey as some of the others I’ve used in the past. As for the blades themselves, they result in the closest shave ever and because of the chromium coating, you can re-use the razors and still have the same ultra smooth results. In the interest of full disclosure, I would not recommend them to newbies as they aren’t designed like women’s diposable razors and I actually have cut myself a handful of times with them, when I first started shaving. Readily available at most cooperatives (jam3iyas) in the country and almost every drugstores abroad, these razors come in a pack, and are quite affordable (read: dirt cheap). I always make it a point to have a pack of Gillette’s navy blue disposable men’s razors on hand at all times.
Best shaving tip ever: Use men’s razors (disposable) for the closest shave and best results ever!
