Carrefour Haulage (January)

Once again, I was at the Avenues and on my way back to my car, popped by Carrefour to replenish my stock of Jack Link’s Beef Jerky and pick up another Colgate 360 Toothbrush (every time I open up a new one to start using, I like to go out and purchase a back-up as quickly as possible, especially since I don’t always find these babies at any given local co-op).

While there, I couldn’t resist picking up these bars of KitKat because the name of the flavor (Cookie Crumble) made me lol Inspired by recent success with Lux Soap (here), I decided to try out a random scent, which smelled nice in-store, but was so floral and just awful during use!

At the Makeup Aisle, I was completely smitten with a Maybelline Nail Polish in the most delicious shade of coffee brown that was appropriately named Dark Roast! Keeping up with the chocolate-y theme (you know how much I love my themes), I snatched up a tiny pot of Cocoa Butter Body Cream from the brand Himalaya (or Himalaya Herbals? I dunno… it’s just one of those brands that’s always been around, in every drugstore and local co-op, since the beginning of time) to stash in my car for when I forget to moisturize. Lastly, I hit up the Essence counter and picked up a few things (more on that below).

Boots Haulage (October)

I popped in to Boots in the hopes of picking up the St. Tropez Self Tan “Purity” Bronzing Water Mousse (spotted earlier, here). Unfortunately, they were out of stock (I knew I should’ve purchased it, at the time). I believe they had a “15% off” Gosh Makeup, whereas all the other makeup brands were “25% off”. They also had a “Buy One Get One Free” promo on select brands. As per usual, the “Buy One Get One Free” did not extend to St. Tropez or K-Beauty (typical). Still, since I was there, I figured I might as well make the most of it. I picked up x2 Smokey Eye Brushes (one ended up being free) and a pair of Tweezers (to apply falsies) and repurchased that gorgeous Serum Mascara! The sales assistant also ended up tossing in a Bronzer for free (which was nice of her). Next time I see anything remotely interesting at Boots, I’m just going to go ahead and purchase it (then and there)! This is my millionth time returning to the same branch to buy the St. Tropez Bronzing Water and my millionth time not being able to find it lol

Boots “Buy 2 Get 2 Free”

As you can see, it clearly states “Buy 2 Get 2 Free” and also “Mix & Match“. However, just to be 100% sure, I asked the nearest SA and she also confirmed that I could in fact mix & match (each item could be from a different brand and I’d still qualify for the Buy 2 Get 2 promo), store-wide. I knew Kuwait all too well, so I was skeptical (because it sounded too good to be true). However, I went along with it and filled up my shopping basket anyway. I wasn’t that interested in anything (bad mood) up until I spotted the St. Tropez display, which showcased all kinds of new products from the brand!

I mean… they had the Gradual Tan 1 Minute Everyday Pre-Shower Tanning Mousse (which you’re supposed to wash off after literally just 1 minute!) and the Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Mousse (Bronzing Water! I die!) and the one in the gorgeous oil-slick packaging is the Self Tan Extra Dark Bronzing Mousse. They also had the rest of the St. Tropez range (about 3 rows of the stuff) including the Bronzing Lotions and Facial Oils and even the Tan Applicator Mitts!

My Story: Mascara

mascaras

When I was younger, I felt mascara was quite intimidating so I never dared to use it especially when I had to apply it so closely to my eyes. Around the time hair mascara was trending, on a whim, I decided to purchase a blue mascara from Maybelline called Great Lash (pink tube, cult following) thinking I could use it for my bangs. I never did though because as I mentioned before, I hated using any type of product on my hair because it made me feel dirty (yup pretty sure I’ve got OCD). One idle afternoon, I sat criss-cross (indian style) in front of a floor-length mirror in our house’s carpeted hallway and with plenty of good lighting decided to use the mascara on my eyelashes. This wasn’t a slightly blue-tinted mascara, this was straight up cobalt blue, too avante garde for Kuwait in the late 90’s, but at the time I was quite new to the world of mascara so I had nothing to base my opinion on, I thought “Oh it makes my browns eyes look almost greenish” so I continued to use it until it dried up (which was way past the suggested 3 month mark). To remove it, I just washed my face with water and soap.
