Spotted at Bath & Body Works (Mermaid Approved Sea-Tox Collection)

Here’s an in-depth look at all the products in the Mermaid Approved Sea-Tox Collection! As I mentioned earlier (here), they had a promo going on and despite the sticker price, all full-size items were on sale for only KD 2/750 which was a total steal! I’ll try to go over them in the same order shown.

First of all, the idea of a Mermaid-themed Collection from Bath & Body Works (of all places) is everything! None of the products look nor smell nor feel too young (read: juvenile). Unlike the usual rainbow vomit take on mermaid-inspired collections (like Tarte Cosmetics for example) which honestly is a total eyesore, Bath & Body Works did a really good job on the packaging! Everything is appropriately either seaweed-green or seafoam-green or peachy-pink. I especially adore the Japanese Wave Print (which seems to resemble the Japanese Print called The Great Wave of Kanagawa)! Also, the mermaid on the packaging is so stinkin’ cute (like something out of an old-school JRPG)!

Even the travel-size versions of these products (all the way at the bottom) have cute (if a bit cliche) mermaid-related quips! I’ve actually picked up a purple top from New Look (I wanna’ say around 2-3 years ago) that says “Mermaid hair, don’t care” and my sister-in-law recently got me a baby blue top that says “Mermaid in Training” (as a gift from one of her trips abroad with my brother) which proves that I’m quite partial to mermaid-related paraphernalia to begin with.

The feature ingredient of the Sea-Tox Collection (sea-tox like detox, I see you, fam, I see you) is Seaweed and I am living for it! I’ve mentioned this before on my blog, but I’m obsessed with all things Seaweed, so a Mermaid Collection showcasing Seaweed as the feature ingredient is deliciously appropriate! Also, you can’t very well have a Mermaid Collection without including some Hair Care products (So. Much. Yes!) and the Sea-Tox Collection not only has one but two of those, one of them being a legit Sea Salt Hair Spray (I die)! Lastly, I love the fact that the directions include “Mermaid Tips” (which are effectively useless lol but such a cute touch, just the same)! Honestly, the entire Sea-Tox Collection was stupid cute!

The scent on all the products in the Sea-Tox Collection was a pleasant, zesty, unisex (leaning more towards masculine) scent (which was extremely light and subtle, by the way), that had underlying citrusy-green notes (I almost wanna’ say lemon leaf), kinda’ like a Mojito (non-alcoholic, of course)! I’m pretty sure that I’ve smelled this particular scent before (possibly from the For Men range), but I just can’t quite place it at the moment. In any case, it’s perfect for Summers in Kuwait! Even though Bath & Body Works love making stuff up for their descriptions, I’ll leave you with their official description.

A mermaid-approved blend of soft sea breeze, salty ocean waves & crisp aquatic florals

Victoria’s Secret Collective Haul

I so rarely shop at Victoria’s Secret, for varied reasons. Clothes-wise, I don’t believe they’d have anything that would fit me. That said, I’ve never actually tried anything on in their dressing room. In fact, I’ve never even so much as glanced at their clothes or lingerie, my logic being that the Victoria’s Secret Angels are all incredibly fit, long-limbed, size-zeros, whereas I am neither slim nor tall. Makeup-wise, I’ve had several bad experiences with them in the past (as a teenager). One in particular, stands out to me; when I purchased a Lip Plumper, and instead of being a clear gloss that tingles, it was a thick (yet creamy), straight up white lipstick, with a matte finish, regardless of the fact that you applied it with a doe-foot applicator, straight from the long mascara-like tube. Apparently, you were supposed to apply it as a base (underneath a lipstick or lip gloss), and it was supposed to smooth out the surface of your lips, which in turn would make them appear bigger. Victoria’s Secret were very careful with their wording on the packaging. In fact, back in the day, a lot of makeup companies used to pull all kinds of shady stunts like that, before beauty bloggers and vloggers exploded on the scene. I’ve also purchased several hair-care products from them and was always disappointed. For instance, when I purchased a scented mousse, it was so sticky it made my hair stick together as well as stick to my scalp. I wanted volume in my hair but instead the mousse gave me a bad hair day (sticky, stringy, and flat). What’s worse was it was a floral-scent (no testers)! Scent-wise, they had such a huge selection of perfumes, body mists, and whatnot, that I was always overwhelmed, and never knew where to even begin.
