Also at Soug Sharq and during that same visit, no less, (it’s slowly dawning on me that I might have a problem lawl) I stopped at Sultan Center for soaps, snacks and some more Hair Care stuff (I wasn’t joking about my hair being a mess).
Also at Soug Sharq, I stopped by Boots. I wasn’t planning on getting anything especially since I literally just bought some makeup-y bits at Debenhams (hauled here), but then I saw that they had so many cool new products and several new brands too.
For starters, they had the SpaWax (stripless wax warming kit) by the brand Veet which I’d been lusting after, ever since I saw one of my favorite YouTubers plugging it in one of her videos… years ago. Second, I noticed two new brands which were House of Lashes (which I’d been dying to try) and GOSH Cosmetics, and even though I don’t particularly enjoy Soap & Glory (reviews here), they had the cutest Gift Set that was shaped like an actual Christmas Cracker, which I just couldn’t resist. Also, they had a Buy Two Get One Free deal on all Hair Care, and my hair was in dire need of some serious TLC. I only got one makeup-y item which was a mascara, but the rest are all personal care, hair care and body care stuff. Plus, they even tossed in a free makeup bag.
Giovanni Cosmetics is an Eco-friendly, free of Sodium Sulfate (SLS) and free of Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), Phthalates-free, Paraben-free, Vegan brand that does not test on animals. Their Eco Chic Hair Care has a range of lines targeting specific hair care needs. They’ve got Ultra-Sleek (Moroccan Argan Oil + Brazilian Phyto-Keratin), Ultra-Moist (Avocado + Olive Oil), Ultra-Volume (Tangerine Butter + Papaya), Ultra-Luxurious (Cherry Blossoms + Rose Petals), Ultra-Revive (Pineapple + Ginger), Repairing (Blackberry + Coconut Milk), and Frizz Be Gone (Shea Butter + Sweet Almond Oil). I’ve tried the Purifying & Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Towelettes (mostly because of the really cool all-black packaging) from their D:Tox Sytem (Facial Care) purchased from Drugstore.com ages ago but other than that, I’ve never really tried anything from this brand before. That said, I have seen their adorable Flight Attendant Travel Kits being sold at Sultan Center (Salmiya) but since this is a somewhat “natural” brand, I didn’t know how long they’d been sitting out there fore (probably expired). Initially, I only picked up the Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Blow Out Styling Mist but loved the scent of the Ultra-Sleek line so much that I went back and got the Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Flat Iron Styling Mist, Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Body Lotion, and Giovanni 2chic Ultra-Sleek Body Wash all purchased from Sultan Center (Soug Sharq). I believe I’ve also seen the Ultra-Volume (orange packaging) and Ultra-Moist (green packaging) available for purchase as well.
I decided to include these pictures to show you my transition from blonde to brunette. Yes, these are all pictures of me (LuLu). No, you will not be seeing my face (as I’ve explained my reasoning here). If the fact that I’ve cropped my face out of these pictures bothers you, please feel free to skip reading this blog post. If not, I hope you enjoy reading this post and maybe even find it useful or would like to share your own experience in the comments section. Thank you!
For years, I’ve only ever heard (and read) great things about the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, but I’ve never actually tried it before. I kept meaning to purchase it at some point but never actually got around to it. Once I cut my hair into a lob (long bob), I figured it was an appropriate time to start experimenting with hair-care products that I’ve never used before, and made that a priority. I found this Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment at Sultan Center. It was quite inexpensive (especially for 250ml).
Back in early 2000’s I discovered a magical hair mousse in Europe which happened to be by the brand Garnier. I hinted about it in this post My Story: Shampoo and Conditioner (next to last paragraph). Straight out of the shower, I would apply a golf-sized amount to my palm and work it through my hair before I let my hair air-dry. As it dried, my hair would slowly rise to give me a satisfying amount of volume with well-defined curls. In a matter of minutes, I had curls that were soft, bouncy, and frizz-free. Best of all, this specific mousse scented my hair with its delightful fruity-green scent putting a smile on my face every time I got a whiff of it. My girlfriends appreciated the scent as well because they always seemed to notice it. I’m pretty sure it was called XXL Volume or something along those lines. I’d even go so far as to call it my holy grail hair-styling mousse.
