Call of Fruity… as in Call of Duty… seriously? -_- What is this blasphemy? Not cool. Not cool at all! Call of Duty is sacred!
Now that we got that out of the way, there were several new displays over at Boots. They’d moved the Oh K! Beauty to a stand-alone umm… stand, by the entrance to Boots (pics at the bottom of this post) and they had a Soap & Glory display featuring the new Call of Fruity Collection (so wrong!) and another one featuring a bunch of Hair Care products all with “humorous” funny-punny names. The Call of Fruity display was two rows of identical products (same lay-out, same everything) whereas the Hair Care display had more of a variety.
In the interest of full disclosure, I did give the Call of Fruity stuff a sniff, but I didn’t like the way they smelled. As such, I didn’t end up buying anything. I’ll go over them anyways, for those who might be interested.
My skin was being weird which was annoying! Even if your makeup skillz were next-level (which mine clearly weren’t), having skin issues just ruins the over-all effect! I figured I should look into this whole chemical exfoliating thing, because clearly physical exfoliating just wasn’t cutting it.
That’s why I set out to Sephora to purchase 2 things, only. I wanted to get the Pixi Glow Tonic (possibly in the travel size, just to try) for my skin and the Brigeo Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo for mah hurr, but ended up getting everything else shown (mostly skincare) as well, including some “Beauty Friday” stuff (discounted items). I believe most of the stuff was included in my latest Spotted at Sephora post (here), but if not, I’ll link each one individually, just to make sure. Also, as a result of this KD 80/000 haulage, I ended up getting the 12pc Festive Gift Box (full deets, here), which was pretty suh-weet!
So they had this little display set up at Sultan Center (Salmiya). People kept walking into my shot, realizing I was trying to take a pic and stopping halfway through with the deer-in-headlights look on their face. It wasn’t the prettiest display in the world, but it was enough to set off my cousin’s wife who had gone from being a happy-go-lucky Lebanese cutie pie who used to dye her hair regularly and wear jeans and fitted tops, and smoke sheesha in public, to now covering her hair (wearing a hijab) and wearing super loose clothing and being uptight and judgmental about literally everything (after she’d gotten married).
I tried explaining the concept of “live and let live”, but she jumped down my throat and said I was turning my back on my religion so I lost interest in the conversation and instead pointed out other stuff at Sultan Center that she’d find more interesting (to distract her so she’d back off). I really like her, but dang, this us vs them mentality bugs me so much! Moving on to something much lighter…
I really wish I’d gotten this post up sooner (like, December), but you know… life. In this post, I’ll be going over some New Items, Skincare, Hair Care, Perfume, cute stuff at the “Aisle of Doom“, the Brand Gift of the month, and most importantly, a few of the discounted items during “Beauty Friday” (Sephora’s version of Black Friday)! I’ll start by going over all the Sephora Holiday Sets.
Sephora had released a whole slew of Gift Sets for the Holidays! You could differentiate them by their lovely navy blue packaging (to mimic the night sky) with a golden moon and stars scattered all over them! Around every corner there was a different Holiday Display. At first, it was a bit overwhelming, but I quickly realized it was mostly the same stuff, except rearranged differently. I tried to take pictures of as many of them as I could. I believe I managed to get all of them (sorry in advance for the glare in some of the photos!)
This (shown above) was literally on the opposite side of the Too Faced Counter. All the other Holiday Displays scattered throughout Sephora featured several of the same products, which led me to believe that this was the main display.
They were having a Buy 2 Get 2 Free over at Boots (the one facing Carrefour at the Avenues) so I decided to pop in and check it out.
I like how they went from asking me to flat-out stop taking pictures (here and here) to now offering to hold up the products for me while I take the picture LOL I spotted some of the New Collections (new to Kuwait, rather) and a new Hair Care Brand called Briogeo, some fun Asian Skincare and more than a few absolutely stunning Palettes! With that being said, now that I’m getting older, I find myself… dare I say it… kinda’ losing interest in makeup (I’m 33). Not a lot seems to wow me anymore. I’ve also noticed the same thing happening with my choice of fragrance (I’m starting to turn away from all things candy and find a lot of my once-beloved gourmands straight up annoying now). If I ever fall out of love with videogames though, I’d be completely devastated (might as well not live anymore, after that! lawl). Thankfully, that hasn’t happened… yet.
Of course I couldn’t leave Souq Sharq without making a
quick stop at Sultan Center!
