I was really happy with my previous haulage from Nordstrom (here) so when I noticed that they were having another really cool promo, I decided to place another order. Plus, it was mah birthday (not that I needed an excuse to shop, since we’ve already established that I’m clearly a shopaholic). Basically, the promo was if you spent $135 (around KD 40) on Fragrances (including Eau de Toilettes and Eau de Perfumes and even Scented Candles), you qualified for the Gift With Purchase, which happened to be a pack of Fragrance Samples (haulage here)! As you can see, the items arrived individually wrapped in packing paper, in a rather large (practically empty) cardboard box also stuffed with packing paper. It’s not pretty, but hey, it works (everything arrived safely and undamaged)!
– Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Gift Set ($155 Value) retails for $103 (KD 33/700)
-Trish McEvoy No. 9 Blackberry & Vanilla Musk Refillable Pen Spray (.2 oz./6mL) (Limited Edition) retails for $32 (KD 10/500)
– beautyblender Sweet Surprise Set (Limited Edition) ($28 Value) retails for $20 (KD 6/500)
– Fragrance Samples Pack (gift with purchase) (haulage here)
–Samples Pack (free with every order)
Nordstrom was having yet another promo and just like it says on the sticker, with every $135 Fragrance Purchase (which converts to around KD 40) you qualified for the pack of fragrance samples (as shown)! Most of them were tiny spray samples, but there were several adorable mini perfume bottles and even an actual candle! Not only that, but they were all either from designer or niche brands! A lot of them were relatively new fragrances too! Best of all, included was a sample of Delina by Parfums de Marly (which I’ve been dying to try)!!!!
This particular promo could not have come at a better time, especially since as I’ve already demonstrated (haulage here), I was more than willing to spend my money on samples. Funny how only a few months prior, I would’ve barely glanced at this promo, but now that I’m obsessed with perfumes, I was giddy with excitement, practically salivating, at the prospect of playing around with all those perfume samples!
Also at the Avenues, I stepped in to Bath & Body Works (it’s called an addiction) only to find that they were having some sort of random sale (not to be confused with their Semi-Annual Sale). I didn’t know what that was all about, but I went in and picked up a few things, obvi. They’d brought out all the Zodiac Candles (previously purchased two, here). I’m talking an entire shelf stacked from top to bottom of just Zodiac Candles and they were in mint condition too! I also spotted several of the large 3-wick Candles on sale for only KD 3 but in the end, I only purchased the smaller 1-wick Candles. Most of the stuff wasn’t exactly new, but I hadn’t seen it before. Like, where was all this earlier? lol
I was severely disappointed by the fact that they were selling the Holiday 2017 Holiday Collection instead of the Holiday 2018 Collection at Bath & Body Works on December 2018 (pics here). However, I didn’t realize they were doing that, up until I started looking up the fragrance notes for this post, which by then, was obviously too late. This right here, is the reason I stopped buying from Bath & Body Works for so long.
They had some promo or other going on at the time (Buy 3 Get 4 Free), so I grabbed a few things (which turned out to be total fails). I got x2 Dry Shampoo and x2 Body Stuff (Shower Gel + Body Scrub) and x2 Bathroom Stuff (Shower Steamer and Hand Soap) and x2 Scented Candles and x3 Room Sprays. As the icing on the cake, not all the items were included in the promo -_-
Pretty, right? I thought so too! I even bought a few things.
Back home, when I googled the notes for an upcoming post, I realized that instead of the Holiday 2018 Collection, they were selling the Holiday 2017 Collection and passing it off as the newer collection!
Everything that people were buying was already a year old! No wonder those Body Creams usually smell horrible in under a month! They were already old by the time we bought them! We’d been buying old products at retail price. I mean, is this even legal?
The joys of living in Kuwait…
I was at Bath & Body Works (here). I did some damage (KD 33 worth, to be exact). You know the drill.
There was a very cute Rose Collection display (as shown) and an equally cute Pumpkin Collection (shown below) and a ton of the newer Candle Collections (shown below). Best of all, there was either a Buy One Get One Free promo or a Buy 2 Get 2 Free promo on almost everything. Of course, my beloved Sea-Tox Collection and Water Collection were excluded from the promos, but you can’t win ’em all, I guess.
Another promo that I don’t recall them ever having before, was Buy 2 Get 3 Free on all the Hand Soaps! Naturally, I had to partake. Unfortunately, I had one of the sales assistant on my tail (kept trying to shake her off) and I totally would’ve walked out, except I was already invested (I was absolutely besotted with the Rose Fine Fragrance Mist and Paris Cafe Candle and needed them in my life). Honestly, at one point, I couldn’t help but start giggling to myself. I was a grown woman and yet here I was skittering from corner to corner, trying to avoid the sales assistant (who was another grown woman). The whole situation was a bit absurd.
