Saveco happens to be directly on my way home from The Avenues, but usually I’ll ignore it and just keep driving (because after running around The Avenues, all I wanna’ do is just get back home). However, I had run out of some of my new-found favorite snackage from my previous visit to Saveco (dis) and needed to replenish my stock. So I made a
quick stop at Saveco! Sadly, I ended up with more than a few duds this time.
I’d been meaning to hit up Carrefour (Avenues) to repurchase the Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara. Plus, our driver couldn’t find my beloved Torabika Cappuccino Instant Coffee in any of the local cooperatives. Plus, my older brother wanted me to pick up some Beef Jerky for him. Plus, my younger brother wanted me to pick up some Americana Mini Croissants to take to work with him (for his coworkers). Plus, the last time I’d popped in to Carrefour was back in January (dis) so it’s been a minute.
When I took the kids to see Toy Story 4 at Souq Sharq (fully gory deets here), we hit up Fantasy World and Bath&Body Works (dis) and MAC (dis) before the movie, and Sultan Center after the movie. As you can see, we mostly got a bunch of snackage from Sultan Center.
I thought for sure that I’d gotten everything in the photo, but apparently not. I had to put everything away, because I prefer to wait until there’s nobody else in the kitchen before I take the photos (it feels weird having people watch lol) and the first time around, I forgot some stuff in the freezer. So I had to get everything out again and take pics all over again… only to find out that I’d forgotten the Pop-Tarts and Cheerios this time. Rather than lay everything out for the millionth time, I just took a photo of them separately and included them below.
I was out with the kids again and the youngest was misbehaving. I was already dead tired, but I’ve kinda’ made it a point to dole out swift, if not immediate punishment, when it comes to the kids (so they remember). As such, I dropped her off at home and went right back outside, taking the other two along with me. The youngest was visibly upset at being left out, as intended.
Anywho, I’ve been meaning to get the older two started on wearing antiperspirant/deodorant regularly. They participate in all sorts of water-related activities at Summer Camp, from “Swimming Day” to “Foam Football” (Soccer for the Americans) to regular “Sports Day” all of which involved them showering afterwards over there, and then I get them to shower again back at home, before bed (well, except the eldest, who only washes her body regularly, but her hair every other day, because I don’t think her hair can handle daily washing). Despite the constant showers, the kids can smell a bit… ripe. Also, it’s shaping up to be an exceptionally hot Summer in Kuwait.
So I took them to Sultan Center (Salmiya) where they each got to pick out their own Deodorant. We also stocked up on some snackage (some healthy, but mostly not) and on our way back home, despite being way past their bedtime, decided to made a quick stop at the McDonald’s Drive-Thru on Gulf Road and treat each of them to an Oreo McFlurry (knowing full well that they were going to go back and gloat about it to their younger sister). It was around 2:30am at this point, and yet the beach was packed with families just hanging out! Even the McDonald’s Kiddie Playground (outside) was crowded with kids (of all ages) running around, as happy as you please.
Back home, the youngest was so upset at being left out (most definitely imagining that her brother and sister were out having all kinds of fun, while she was stuck at home) that she chose to stay up and wait for us. As soon as we walked in with bags of
groceries snackage, her eyes widened like saucers and she proceeded to grill her siblings about where they’d gone, what they’d done, etc… The eldest did not miss this opportunity to answer with great relish. It’s been weeks, but the youngest hasn’t misbehaved since!
I just happened to be in the vicinity (because I usually park my car in the underground parking lot) and figured I’d replenish my stock of Beef Jerky. One thing led to another and I ended up with… dis. To be fair, I can’t find Beef Jerky anywhere else, other than Carrefour, which is why I buy the stuff in bulk (Avenues isn’t exactly around the corner from my place). Also, our local co-op is always out of whichever coffee drink I happen to enjoy at the time, so that’s why I buy a pack or two at a time.
At the Souk Sharq branch of Sultan Center, I literally had them check every other branch (including storage) to see if they had any Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Cookies in stock. The guy informed that they did in fact have them in the Sultan Center branches in areas like Jahra, Fahaheel, etc… (so far out of my way and just plain far). He mentioned that they might have them at the Sultan Center located at the Promenade in the Hawally. After snagging my Souk Sharq haulage (here), I went back home but couldn’t quite let it go. I just had to get more of those Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Cookies and as I’ve learned the hard way, these babies go fast! So at the break of dawn, I hit up the Sultan Center located in Hawally (Promenade) as well!
Because that’s just how insane I am, I waited for as long as I could before setting out (at the break of dawn) to the Promenade (Hawally) branch of Sultan Center in search of my beloved Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies. I managed to find 4 packs (score)! I also picked up yet another Dip (for Potato Chips). There was only one dude manning the cash register and as luck would have it, the thing straight up malfunctioned. It took forever for them to get it fixed. While waiting for them to fix it, I decided to browse around the very, very small Sultan Center and stumbled upon Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo which sounded so interesting (Oxyfusion Technology lawl they’re making stuff up just like Bath & Body Works tend to do). I also grabbed a drink (Snapple) and some gum (Wrigley’s Double Mint Chewing Gum) at the cash register. Solely for those Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies, the whole trip was worth it!
It was towards the end of summer…
I was starving and I was in a spend-y mood (deadly combination). Now, despite the huge haulage (as evident by the photo above), I was actually very, very, very disappointed with the Shuwaikh branch of The Sultan Center! There were bugs having a party on all the exposed fruits and veggies, fridge doors were left open (meaning the frozen food items like burger patties, seafood, and whatever else were just left to melt), every single tub of ice-cream I picked up was sticky (gross!), the seal was broken on a lot of food items, other food items (an entire row of Lay’s Forno Lemon & Black Pepper Baked Potato Chips in the smallest size) had expired months ago (yet still remained on the shelves), the whole place was a mess! Some areas (with the most traffic) were relatively alright but for the most part, the entire place looked like a scene from Mad Max… lol imagine how much larger this haul would’ve been if I hadn’t been grossed out.
