Sultan Center Haul (Jan 2021)

Out of all the grocery stores in Kuwait, my favorite was The Sultan Center!

The Soug Sharg/Souq Sharq branch, to be more exact.

I knew the layout by heart.

I’d walk in, wheeling my shopping cart through the fresh produce aisle at the entrance, making a mental note of all the things I’d circle back for (mainly those lil apples).

Usually, I’d place the frozen stuff and fresh produce stuff in my shopping cart last, so they wouldn’t melt or defrost or wilt or spoil or whatever.

I’d skip the organic stuff aisle (eww healthy stuff) up until I got to the personal care aisle and snag some makeup remover, cotton pads, face wash, etc… The other side would have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, facing each other.

I’d skip the cleaning supplies aisle up until I got to the cooking stuff aisle (sauces and other condiments). I’d grab a few tins of baked beans or a box of pasta or whatever else I was craving. Then move on on to the next aisle and fill up my cart accordingly.

Eventually, I’d make it to the cookies and biscuits aisle which would be facing the chocolates aisle and on the other side, the candy aisle facing the potato chips aisle.

I’d check for my beloved Coco Mojo in the unrefrigerated drinks section before hitting up the refrigerated section (all the way towards the end) where I’d grab some bacon, smoked turkey, fruit yogurt, etc… and work my way back to the fresh produce aisle (walking freezer-side to keep an eye out for ice-cream or frozen pizza that looked particularly yummy).

Finally, I’d circle back to the fresh produce aisle, pick up some grapes or apples or whatever my latest recipe called for, and head towards the checkout counter.

Sadly, that’s all out the window because they renovated the place and the entire layout is completely different now!

The frozen section is right across the fresh produce section (which is convenient tbh) but I don’t like the rest of the layout :(

I noticed the renovations starting around April but before that, I hit up Sultan Center in January.

Ikea Snackage Haul

You can’t very well decorate an apartment or go couch-hunting in Kuwait without hitting up Ikea!

I didn’t buy anything substantial (only a pack of those colorful Bevara Sealing Clips).

However, that meant I had to wait in a very long line, making the little snack store across from the checkout counter (where I previously got those delicious Apple Drinks) in my direct line of vision.

I was interested in trying out some snackage, especially in conjunction with my recently purchased Bevara Sealing Clips lol

Small Collective Grocery Store Haul

Around January 2021, my apartment renovations were finally almost over and I was on the hunt for the most perfect couch.

I was still very much into cooking, as mentioned in my Chef LuLu – Part 10 – Final Post (here) and was pretty much making Chicken Machboos (among other things) on a weekly basis!

Since my hunt for a couch took me to places I’d never been to before (Al-Dhajeej, to name one), I’d pop in to the nearest LuLu Hypermart or Carrefour or City Center or whatever else afterwards, to check it out (for cooking stuff) while there.

Expect to see a lot of more posts like this, up next.

Collective Snackage Haulage (Sultan Center Souq Sharq, Sultan Center Salmiya, City Center Salmiya)

Back in December, my cousin’s wife served me a can of tasty Lychee Drink when I was over at my uncle’s home. It was sooo good that I’ve been searching for the exact same stuff ever since.

All I can remember was there was an illustration of Lychee and a Melon and possibly a Pear on the front, and the can itself was pale pink with white polka-dots and was either made in Malaysia or Thailand based on the writing (I dunno’).

During early December, I hit up both the Souq Sharq branch and Salmiya branch of Sultan Center and the Salmiya branch of City Center (ergo Collective Snackage Haulage) and bought a ton of other groceries as well, but couldn’t fit everything into one photo, so I didn’t even bother attempting it.

The drinks in the 1st photo were all from City Center Hypermarket (Salmiya). As you can see, it was very lychee-oriented lol

Saveco Haul (August)

Last week, I went to Saveco, because I’d run out of the Hinda Pizza Rings and Banana Joe Banana Chips and Walker’s Banana Split Eclairs Toffee and Cocoaland LOT 100 Mango Gummy Candy (basically, all my new-found favorites) and had to replenish my stock. While there, I got a few more things that were new (to me), but unfortunately, they ended up being duds. Also, I didn’t get around to trying everything because I only got this stuff last week.

Carrefour Haul (August)

After Boots (dis) and Bath & Body Works (dis), since I was at the Avenues anyway, I hit up Carrefour for some snackage. Annoyingly, I forgot to include some things in the main photo again, but I did add them below.

Saveco Haul (July)

Saveco happens to be directly on my way home from The Avenues, but usually I’ll ignore it and just keep driving (because after running around The Avenues, all I wanna’ do is just get back home). However, I had run out of some of my new-found favorite snackage from my previous visit to Saveco (dis) and needed to replenish my stock. So I made a quick stop at Saveco! Sadly, I ended up with more than a few duds this time.

Sultan Center Pretty Big Haul (July)

When I took the kids to see Toy Story 4 at Souq Sharq (fully gory deets here), we hit up Fantasy World and Bath&Body Works (dis) and MAC (dis) before the movie, and Sultan Center after the movie. As you can see, we mostly got a bunch of snackage from Sultan Center.

I thought for sure that I’d gotten everything in the photo, but apparently not. I had to put everything away, because I prefer to wait until there’s nobody else in the kitchen before I take the photos (it feels weird having people watch lol) and the first time around, I forgot some stuff in the freezer. So I had to get everything out again and take pics all over again… only to find out that I’d forgotten the Pop-Tarts and Cheerios this time. Rather than lay everything out for the millionth time, I just took a photo of them separately and included them below.
