I wasn’t happy with my previous post about the infamous Levain Bakery Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies (this) because it didn’t feel… enough.
So, I decided to bake those Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies again, while taking pictures to document the entire process for this post.
Unfortunately, I had the carpenter over, with the electrician on the way (remodeling my place… or rather modeling it for the first time lol) and ended up burning the cookies, just a bit.
I was supposed to leave them in the oven for 20 minutes, instead I left them for 25 minutes, and that made all the difference, sadly.
In any case, they still tasted pretty great (according to the familia) if a bit harder than usual lol
For reference, the first time I made these was back in March 2020 (dis).
I’ll list the substitutes and everything below.
2/3 cup White Sugar (large refillable tub in the back)
2/3 cup Brown Sugar
2 sticks of Butter (100g each)
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Baking Soda (I use Bicarbonate of Soda, same thing, right?)
1/4 tsp Salt
1 1/4 cup Cake Flour (or 1 cup AP Flour + 2 tbs Cornstarch)
2 cups All Purpose Flour (regular flour)
2 cups Chocolate Chips (whole bag)
1 cup Walnuts (chopped)
I believe I got these Colourworks Measuring Spoons from Lakeland (Marina Mall) back in 2016.
Sorry for the size of the video, but it was taken straight from my personal and only Snapchat account. I dunno’ know how to edit it to make it look smaller and more proportionate.
In a way, it’s kind of appropriate though, because the recipe I’m going to be sharing is of these rather large (6 oz / 170g) Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies!
Basically, there are these super famous Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies from Levain Bakery that although located in New York, have somehow achieved world renowned status!
Locals and tourists flock to Levain for their world-famous Cookies! Everyone loves them! They’ve even made it to the top of multiple lists!
I don’t know why these babies popped up randomly on my YouTube feed, but I became obsessed!
Seeing as how I wasn’t going to be going to New York any time soon (been there once before, nice place, bit far though lol), the next best thing was to make them at home!
While the actual recipe is “top secret”, thankfully, there’s a ton of copy-cat recipes available online (you can even find them in everything from Chinese to Korean)!
There was a lot (and I mean a lot) of stuff that I’d planned on writing about, as soon as I finished my Bath & Body Works Hauls, from earlier on in the year (this).
However, between my hair and my nails and my teeth and my heart I kinda’ got preoccupied and didn’t get around to doing much blogging.
Not to mention the fact that 2020 was a pretty horrible year all around (not just for me personally, but in general and worldwide). That in and of itself deserves a whole other separate post (maybe I’ll work on it, maybe not, we’ll see).
In any case, the following is all the stuff I had planned on talking about on my blog, but never got around to (because… 2020).
Edit: I’d started writing this post way before the tragic passing of His Highness Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, may he rest in peace. Like I said, this year has been awful.
The title pretty much says it all. I discovered a newfound love for Takis, binged on the stuff (typical LuLu) and ended up ruining my teeth lol
It took several visits to “fix” the issue, starting from November 2019 up until April 2020 and the issue still hasn’t been resolved. Needless to say, I had to swear off Takis.
Back in December, my cousin’s wife served me a can of tasty Lychee Drink when I was over at my uncle’s home. It was sooo good that I’ve been searching for the exact same stuff ever since.
All I can remember was there was an illustration of Lychee and a Melon and possibly a Pear on the front, and the can itself was pale pink with white polka-dots and was either made in Malaysia or Thailand based on the writing (I dunno’).
During early December, I hit up both the Souq Sharq branch and Salmiya branch of Sultan Center and the Salmiya branch of City Center (ergo Collective Snackage Haulage) and bought a ton of other groceries as well, but couldn’t fit everything into one photo, so I didn’t even bother attempting it.
The drinks in the 1st photo were all from City Center Hypermarket (Salmiya). As you can see, it was very lychee-oriented lol
Takis Fuego Hot Chili Pepper and Lime Tortilla Chips retail for KD 1/300 each
After Saveco (dis) I stopped by LuLu to stock up on some Takis, which I’d tried earlier (dis) and fallen in love with!
I don’t know how to explain it but the Tortilla Chips were not triangular. Each one was long and sorta’ wrapped around itself and had a nice crunch to it! You didn’t really feel the kick from the Hot Chili Pepper only until you were halfway through chewing. It kinda’ made me choke back a cough. That Lime though, it hit instantly and it was what made this whole thing just, mmmwah, perfection! Now for the gross part. This stuff makes my nose run, eyes water and mouth pucker, but still… worth it!
My older sister and younger brother don’t like this stuff but my older brother and I can’t enough! I keep telling him he should pay me KD2 (including shipping) whenever he steals a pack from me but he doesn’t agree lol If you haven’t tried Takis yet, go getchu’ some (make sure it says Fuego not Guac)!
I never did mention the pizza place that I’ve been obsessed with for the past few months.
It’s called YELO! Pizza and was delicious enough to brave driving to their location (residential area) despite having compromised visibility (dis)!
On our way back from The Avenues (dis) I stopped by LuLu Hypermarket (no relation lol) for some snackage. Everything I got was pretty much new to me.
Last week, I went to Saveco, because I’d run out of the Hinda Pizza Rings and Banana Joe Banana Chips and Walker’s Banana Split Eclairs Toffee and Cocoaland LOT 100 Mango Gummy Candy (basically, all my new-found favorites) and had to replenish my stock. While there, I got a few more things that were new (to me), but unfortunately, they ended up being duds. Also, I didn’t get around to trying everything because I only got this stuff last week.
After Boots (dis) and Bath & Body Works (dis), since I was at the Avenues anyway, I hit up Carrefour for some snackage. Annoyingly, I forgot to include some things in the main photo again, but I did add them below.
