2020 (The First Half)

There was a lot (and I mean a lot) of stuff that I’d planned on writing about, as soon as I finished my Bath & Body Works Hauls, from earlier on in the year (this).

However, between my hair and my nails and my teeth and my heart I kinda’ got preoccupied and didn’t get around to doing much blogging.

Not to mention the fact that 2020 was a pretty horrible year all around (not just for me personally, but in general and worldwide). That in and of itself deserves a whole other separate post (maybe I’ll work on it, maybe not, we’ll see).

In any case, the following is all the stuff I had planned on talking about on my blog, but never got around to (because… 2020).

Edit: I’d started writing this post way before the tragic passing of His Highness Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, may he rest in peace. Like I said, this year has been awful.

Walker’s Banana Split Eclairs Toffee

My friends are back from summer vacation so I’ve been busy catching up with all of them. I’m also trying to do the Easter Egg on Call of Duty – Zombies Map IX (9), or as I call it, “The Arena” Map. Lastly, I started reading the Mistborn series on my Kindle. That’s why I’ve kinda’ been neglecting my blog lol (soz!)

I placed an order with ColourPop during their Labor Day Sale which just arrived the other day, so “haulage” coming soon, and since I’ve gone through most of my Handbags, I’m going to be moving on to posting about my Shoes and which ones I’m going to keep, donate or trash.

Anyways, I popped by Saveco to grab a handful of Walker’s Banana Split Eclairs Toffee at KD 0/200 a pack and bounced. Like I said, these are located at the check-out counter so I didn’t browse around or anything like that, because I’m trying to make better choices about how and when I spend my monies. That said, I did pop over to LuLu to replenish my stock of Takis (next post) lol

I purchased these Walker’s Banana Split Eclairs Toffee earlier just to try (here) and then two more packs (here) and another two more packs (here). At this point, it’s safe to say I really enjoy them!

Spotted at Sultan Center (Souq Sharq Mall + Promenade Mall)

I visited both the Souq Sharq branch and the Promenade branch of Sultan Center on separate days during the month of September, but decided to group them together for this post.

Basically, I keep running out of either the Chunky Salsa (Medium) or Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips (which is all I’ve been craving recently). As long as it’s not Hot (which makes my nose run, eyes water, ears turn red, tongue swell up and lips feel like they’re on fire) nor Mild (which is tasteless), I’m not picky about which brand of Salsa I get. My only prerequisites are that it’s Chunky (with veggies) and Medium (has a kick to it), which is generally easy to find at any branch. Sadly, the Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips are less easy to find (they appear in and out of stock at random), which is why I’m always on a scavenger hunt of sorts (because I never know if they’re in stock or not) at Sultan Center.

With that being said, I’m happy to report that I spotted those delicious Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies (reviewed here) in all the branches! I didn’t get any, because like I said, I’ve only been craving Tortilla Chips and Salsa recently. However, it’s nice to see the Chips Ahoy! Brownie Filled Chocolate Chip Cookies available in large quantities. Plus, Chips Ahoy! even partnered up with Microsoft to come up with a little promo featuring one of the games (Sea Of Thieves) on Xbox One. I’ve never heard of that game before, but still, what a fun idea!

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII

Eeeeeeee! I’m so excited! I’ve always been pretty much obsessed with Call of Duty in general, but I’ve been looking forward to Black Ops 4 (yas, Treyarch, yaaaaaas!) in particular, for months now! It’s finally been released today! Isn’t she a beaut?

Surprisingly, neither my guy friends nor my brothers seem too fussed about it. Heck, none of them have even picked up a copy of their own yet. One brother is currently playing Far Cry 5 while the other is finishing up God of War.

As you can see, I play COD almost exclusively! Unfortunately, when I went to purchase an Xbox One console, the only version I could find was the 500GB which sounds decent except in reality, it’s actually 364.9GB which meant I was constantly having to uninstall games to make room for newer games. Take now, for example, Black Ops 4 is about 50GB so I had to uninstall everything (except Black Ops 2 because my heart won’t let me) just to have enough memory space for the new game and all the upcoming DLCs. In case you are wondering, I’ve got 2 external hard drives, but those are reserved for other stuff (like my blog lawl).

I can’t wait for Black Ops 4 to finish being installed (which going by the Mcdonald’s connection I’ve got, might take a good long while)!

Nicki Minaj – Chun-Li

The first time I heard this song, I was unimpressed. Few months later, outta’ nowhere, this song literally starts playing in my dream (inception much?) and now I’m kinda’ into it!

Chun-Li was actually my favorite character in Street Fighter! Although Vega/Balrog (Spanish character, sports a wolverine-esqe claw and wears an iron mask on his face) is a close second, because both Vega and Chun-Li were pretty speedy! Back in the day, we would all huddle around this really, really small tv (hand-me-down from my dad, which we reserved for gaming) and play Street Fighter II on the SNES for hours on end. If you lost, you’d have to hand the controller to the next person. If you won, you kept playing. We’d all take turns trying to dethrone the winner. In the interest of full disclosure, I used to cheat (I was a kid, okay?) by trapping my opponent in a corner using Chun-Li’s Lightning Kick, until their character’s health was depleted and I’d win.

I’d get such a kick (lawl) out of the bonus levels!

Consequentially, I was no longer “allowed” to choose Chun-Li lol That’s okay though because there was a Street Fighter Arcade Game at one of those sea-side restaurants (I believe it was Shrimpy) on Blajat Street. I’d be minding my own business, trying to finish the game, when a group of giants (everyone looks like a giant when you’re a kid) would strut in, take one look at me (in my pigtails and overalls lawl) and just assume that they could take me, which is why I’d get immense satisfaction trapping them in a corner, until my food was ready. Good times! lol Arcade-wise, I sorta’ stopped playing Street Fighter because King of Fighters was more fun (you got to pick 3 characters). I always used to hate the arcade version of Tekken (so slow) but when it started getting faster, I sorta’ got more into it. There were so many places that had Arcade Games back in the day and I might be remembering this wrong, but I believe that you could just pop in a 100 fils coin to activate the game and start playing, as opposed to nowadays where you have to buy a token (that can cost your entire life savings, easily).

When Tekken 6 came out, I finished the game, twice, using Alisa (the robot girl, because she’s super fast) and Angel (because she’s… pretty. lawl). Incidentally, both characters happened to have wings! Anyways, in the middle of Dead Risings 3, my character was surrounded by zombies, which made me panic, which in turn sent me into random button-mashing mode and outta’ nowhere, the main character executed Ryu‘s Dragon Punch! He literally yelled out “Shoryuken“! We all died laughing! Street Fighter and Dead Rising were both developed by Capcom (which should explain the cross-overs) but still, it was so unexpected, which is why I found it hilarious! It also made me miss Street Fighter so I went back to it and finished Street Fighter IV using Hakan (slippery Turkish Oil Wrestler) just because his character kept saying “Seriously?” which cracked me up (I’m easily amused).

Back to the point of this post, for some reason, the live action versions of Anime, Video Games, and so on, usually tend to… suck. Super Mario Bros (1993) was trash! The original Street Fighter (1994) despite including Van Damme as part of the cast (Kylie Minogue as Cammy lol) was a trainwreck! Somehow, Mortal Kombat (1995) was even worse! The list goes on and on and on.

However, Machinima released Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist (live action web-series) which was pretty awesome! Ken looked like a low-rent Tom Cruise and everyone mostly talked in English, but the whole thing was so good, regardless. The fight scenes choreography was just… *mmmwha* perfection! Prior to that, they’d released Mortal Kombat: Legacy (Season 1 here) which was insanely good! My favorite episode was the one featuring Raiden (here). Both shows were successful enough to get a second season.

Just goes to show the difference between being money-hungry (churning out garbage as quickly as possible for a quick buck) and being a true fan (resulting in quality work, born of love)!
