MAC Snow Ball Collection Haulage

I was at the Avenues finishing up some errands when the MAC Snow Ball Collection (Holiday 2017) display caught me eye (you can see the display from afar without having to actually go in, because the display is literally situated at the entrance). Usually, MAC Collections start trickling into local stores months and months after their world-wide release… if they even make it to Kuwait at all. That’s why I figured it was too soon to start stalking all the local MAC stores. I’d already left my name and phone number with the majority of the MAC stores in the country, earlier, in the hopes that they’d inform me (usually via mass text) when the MAC Snow Ball Collection would hit the local stores. I did not receive a single phone call nor text (not a one) when the collection was actually released (typical Kuwait). Since the collection had been released in Kuwait without my knowledge, a lot of the things that I had been planning on getting were already sold out! Outwardly, I might have seemed calm, but inside I was seething!

I’d really, really, really been looking forward to getting my hands on a few choice pieces from both the Core Collection (previewed here) and the Sets & Kits (previewed here) of the MAC Snow Ball Collection! I was heartbroken when the Sales Assistant told me that the both Face Bags (Sequined Rose-Gold Bag, 140 Fan Brush and Extra Dimension Skinfinish) were long gone, because I’d had my heart set on repurchasing my beloved Whisper of Gilt Extra Dimension Skinfinish (previously hauled here). At least both Opalescent Highlighters were still available (surprisingly, I went for the peachier one instead) and most of the Extra Dimension Eyeshadows were still available as well so I snagged 2 of them. I even managed to find Rouge en Snow which was the only lipstick I actually really, really wanted from the Core Collection and the Candy Yum Yum Shadescents Kit (silver pouch) which besides the Face Bags was the only other Kit that I had to have from the Sets & Kits.

Honestly, it was only pure dumb luck that I happened upon the Snow Ball Collection when I did!

Origins Skincare Haulage

Origins came out with a nice little Gift Set for the Holidays called Go Ginger (that included one of the products I’d been dying to get my hands on for years, but never could, due to shipping restrictions and such). I’ve said this numerous times before on my blog but the best time to invest in Gift Sets is during the Holidays, because every brand releases all kinds of Gift Sets; some that include a few of their best-sellers (in a variety of sizes), some focused more on new releases and Limited Edition products, others with the aim of getting you more bang for your buck (Value Sets) and other still include a combination of all of the above. Plus, you get to try your hand at things you normally wouldn’t try because you would never purchase them on their own. As soon as I spotted the Go Ginger Holiday Gift Set, I added it to my online shopping cart. I also got a cute Facial Brush (yellow) that bumped up the total of my order, which qualified me for free shipping (to my U.S. mailbox, only) and a free Canvas Tote Bag and some samples (x4)! With that being said, Origins come out with new promotions and such pretty regularly (spend X amount and get this and that for free, or spend X amount and we knock off a percentage off your total, etc…) so it’s worth waiting for a deal that appeals to you, before placing your order.

The Body Shop Haulage

I always say this but Gift Sets (or Kits) and specifically Holidays Gift Sets are a great way to try out new products especially when it comes to a new brand. In these kits or sets sometimes you get to try out deluxe sized samples and sometimes you get full sized products for less than what you would usually pay for normally for the full sized product alone so it’s more value for money. Fortunately, in Kuwait we have no shortage of Holidays. Most stores participate in both Muslim and Christian Holidays meaning stores will put out Holiday Gift Sets for Ramadan/Eid, and they’ll do the same for Halloween/Christmas/Valentine’s Day and that’s not mentioning Mother’s Day or the National Holiday Gift Sets during Hala February. Then we have the Seasonal Limited Edition Gift Sets that come out every single season. Basically, we are spoiled for choice because there’s just so much to choose from! I went to The Body Shop a while ago looking for a single item, the Strawberry Sorbet, but I left with all these goodies (and some of them were even on sale!).

This cool, creamy, silky, near-fluid formula creates a luminous, visually arresting, well-defined finish. With the flawless, deft application of the 234 Split Fibre Eye Blending Brush and the 128 Split Fibre Cheek Brush, these are your mediums. SHARE YOUR FUTURE.

Extra Dimension Skinfinish? Extra Dimension Eyeshadow? Near-fluid formula? Liquid-powder hybrid? I love my Mineralize products just fine but that didn’t mean I wasn’t super excited to try out the all new Extra Dimension products. I mean, what the heck is an Extra Dimension supposed to mean (makeup-wise) anyway? It all sounded so very hi-tech if not sci-fi. The last time I was this intrigued by a MAC product was when they released the Magically Cool Liquid Powder several years ago.

I wanted to buy every single product in this collection but instead, I played it safe and just chose one item; an Extra Dimension Skinfinish in the shade Whisper of Gilt (Light, soft white gold with shimmery sheen, metallic finish). I love glowy highlighters so this was a no-brainer and the name was cute as well (as I’ve mentioned before, I like names that include some sort of play on words). I was expecting this to be creamy but instead it was dry yet silky and incredibly pigmented and metallic looking even without the use of Fix+ or water. The last few photos are of Whisper of Gilt blended out. Notice how sheen-y and glowy it looks. I was worried that it’d be too metallic but as you can see, it’s sheer enough that my veins are showing. I highly, highly recommend Extra Dimension Skinfinishes.
