Call of Fruity… as in Call of Duty… seriously? -_- What is this blasphemy? Not cool. Not cool at all! Call of Duty is sacred!
Now that we got that out of the way, there were several new displays over at Boots. They’d moved the Oh K! Beauty to a stand-alone umm… stand, by the entrance to Boots (pics at the bottom of this post) and they had a Soap & Glory display featuring the new Call of Fruity Collection (so wrong!) and another one featuring a bunch of Hair Care products all with “humorous” funny-punny names. The Call of Fruity display was two rows of identical products (same lay-out, same everything) whereas the Hair Care display had more of a variety.
In the interest of full disclosure, I did give the Call of Fruity stuff a sniff, but I didn’t like the way they smelled. As such, I didn’t end up buying anything. I’ll go over them anyways, for those who might be interested.
They were having a Buy 2 Get 2 Free over at Boots (the one facing Carrefour at the Avenues) so I decided to pop in and check it out.
Also at Soug Sharq, I stopped by Boots. I wasn’t planning on getting anything especially since I literally just bought some makeup-y bits at Debenhams (hauled here), but then I saw that they had so many cool new products and several new brands too.
For starters, they had the SpaWax (stripless wax warming kit) by the brand Veet which I’d been lusting after, ever since I saw one of my favorite YouTubers plugging it in one of her videos… years ago. Second, I noticed two new brands which were House of Lashes (which I’d been dying to try) and GOSH Cosmetics, and even though I don’t particularly enjoy Soap & Glory (reviews here), they had the cutest Gift Set that was shaped like an actual Christmas Cracker, which I just couldn’t resist. Also, they had a Buy Two Get One Free deal on all Hair Care, and my hair was in dire need of some serious TLC. I only got one makeup-y item which was a mascara, but the rest are all personal care, hair care and body care stuff. Plus, they even tossed in a free makeup bag.
Fasten your seat belts! It’s Super-Colour Sexy Mother Pucker! With SUPERFILL™ Lip Plumping Spheres – that swell up to TEN TIMES when you apply them – and LIPSWELL™ Volume Boost Technology, Sexy Mother Pucker adds serious plumping power to your pout. Wear on its own for a subtle (but sexy) shine, or layer over your favourite lipstick.
This is the first makeup-y item I’ve ever tried from Soap & Glory but I don’t think it’ll be the last. I believe I purchased it from Drugstore.com/Beauty.com (same shopping cart when you check-out). Their Mother Pucker Gloss come in several different shades and flavors. The main reason I got this particular shade called Half Naked was because it had a buttered popcorn flavor (as we’ve already established, I enjoy novelty products, and anything that tastes or smells like popcorn definitely fits the bill)!
I promised that I’d be reviewing some Soap & Glory products a good while ago but ended up deciding to just lump everything together into one post, and so here we are.
I really don’t like this brand… I always get suckered into buying their products based on the adorable packaging (all pink and cutesy, with vintage glam pin-up models), funny product names, and tongue-in-cheek blurbs and excerpts, only to end up being disappointed by the performance of the actual product. To be fair, the products generally do what they’re supposed to do, just not in the way that I prefer. I also find most of their scents to be downright vile, particularly Original Pink fragrance which seems to be featured in most of their products. Although the Original Pink fragrance is loved by many, I find it too floral-y and perfume-y for my taste. Their prices aren’t exactly budget-friendly either, especially when you factor in the sub-par performance of most of their products.
I’ve mostly tried some Bath & Body Products, some Skincare Products, but aside from a single Lipgloss (purchased online via Drugstore.com) I haven’t really delved much into their Beauty Products. I’ve also got a handful of Minis (from the KD 1/000 “bargain bins” at Boots), and some products that came in a Holiday Set (that they come out with during every Holiday Season). So, I feel like I have a good selection of products here to form a valid opinion. You can purchase Soap & Glory products at Boots.
