So, after months and months of guzzling this stuff (which meant going through packs and packs of it), I was kinda’ over it. Don’t get me wrong. It certainly tasted nice, at the time, especially considering the fact that I’d only just moved on from Karak Tea (here) and had been looking for an alternative. However, if you’ve seen my rather large mug (pics, here), it kinda’ diluted the taste. I liked my Coffee to be sufficiently sweet and sugary, but also, with a kick to it, kinda like Mr Brown Ice Coffee (here).
On Halloween, I found myself at Sultan Center (Souq Sharq) with a few friends, because we needed stuff… for stuff, y’know?
About 2 months ago (August 31) I had the irresistible urge to stock up on some Cookies and Chocolates and Brownies (as shown). It was weird, because as I’ve said multiple times before on this blog, I am not a chocolate-lover. In fact, generally, I believe Chocolate is absolutely vile (too rich, too heavy, too chocolate-y)! However, for whatever reason that day, I was quite clearly (as evident by this haul) craving the stuff. Less than a week later, shark week was upon us (I say us because when it’s “that time of the month”, I make sure that everyone else suffers along with me), which shed light on the driving force (hormones) behind this particular haul.
Like I said in my previous Spotted at Sultan Center post (here), I was hangry, hence the snackage. You know what? Looking at the haulage, it just occurred to me that I kinda’ do shop a lot at Sultan Center, so at this point, I might as well sign up for a Sultan Center Card (to benefit from whatever benefits that come with the Card). Knowing myself, the moment I sign up for the Sultan Center Card, I’d probably move on to Lulu Hypermarket or Carrefour or something, for good lawl Anywho, I picked up some Chips and Dip, some Fruits, a thing of of Caramel Popcorn, a tiny jar of Caviar and some Personal Care stuff (to qualify for the Scratch & Win Promo which I’ll be going over in detail, below).
It was towards the end of summer…
I was starving and I was in a spend-y mood (deadly combination). Now, despite the huge haulage (as evident by the photo above), I was actually very, very, very disappointed with the Shuwaikh branch of The Sultan Center! There were bugs having a party on all the exposed fruits and veggies, fridge doors were left open (meaning the frozen food items like burger patties, seafood, and whatever else were just left to melt), every single tub of ice-cream I picked up was sticky (gross!), the seal was broken on a lot of food items, other food items (an entire row of Lay’s Forno Lemon & Black Pepper Baked Potato Chips in the smallest size) had expired months ago (yet still remained on the shelves), the whole place was a mess! Some areas (with the most traffic) were relatively alright but for the most part, the entire place looked like a scene from Mad Max… lol imagine how much larger this haul would’ve been if I hadn’t been grossed out.
So yeah, I wasn’t joking when I said I primarily live on junk food. I’m always craving savory snacks or tart and sour candy. Normally, I find chocolate to be vile except when it’s “that time of the month” (aka Strawberry Season aka Shark Week) and even then, I’ll only have certain kinds. All of the above was purchased from Sultan Center (Souk Sharg) as per usual.
Vanilla-infused frothy cappuccino creates a perfect café-inspired cup you can sip wherever you are.
I tried getting into drinking Tea (Gschwendner and Teavana) but it’s not just for me. I’ll drink regular ol’ Tea (with a disproportionate amount of sugar poured in there just because I like my Tea extra-sweet) when I get the occasional bout of the flu. Also, I’ll enjoy Lipton Iced Tea Lemon (never the Peach, ugh!) during the Summer, but for some reason it’s almost always out of stock in the entire country (even though the horrid Peach is always available). Aside from that that, I’ll be sticking with my Nescafe Vanilla pseudo-coffee drink, thank you very much.
