Ah, Sephora, my happy place!
I noticed so many new and really cool things over at Sephora! They had several new brands (well… new to Kuwait at least) such as Ouai (Hair Care) and Origins (Skincare) and Cover FX and Black Up and even Zoeva! Heck, they even had an entire section featuring Korean Skincare (I die!) from brands such as Skinfood and Dr. Jart+ and Starskin and Erborian! They also had a bunch of new releases on display from the Sephora Collection and from other brands as well. I didn’t get a chance to take as many photos as I would’ve liked (because they caught me and straight up asked me to stop), but I managed to snap a few pics beforehand ^_~

I was at The Avenues with my younger brother’s wife when we (and by we, I mean me) decided to stop by a Sephora (I say a, as if we have more than one Sephora in Kuwait lawl). I was dumbfounded by my sister-in-law’s maturity (I’m pretty sure I’m at least 6-8 years older than her) because she exercised such restraint (masha’allah) and only purchased a few items, and even then, they were only things she would actually use, as opposed to myself randomly grabbing products left and right (just kidding, they were all “necessities”) and tossing them in my shopping basket (that they hand out at the entrance to Sephora). Even at the zigzag-y queue leading to the check-out counter, she showed little to no interest in all the ridiculously adorable minis! I was starting to suspect that she wasn’t really human (because how could anyone not be enticed by those cute minis at the zigzag-y queue?) and so as a final test I pointed out the GlamGlow PoutMud, mumbled something or other and tossed it in my shopping basket, to which she exclaimed that she was interested in trying it as well, and tossed one in her own shopping basket. Success! My adorable sister-in-law had succumbed to the cuteness of a Lip Scrub which meant she was a red-blooded human being (not an Alien life-form impervious to human wants like “makeup-y bits”) after all!
Sephora got a whole bunch of NEW MAKEUP BRANDS!!!! Well, new to Kuwait, at least. In fact, I could only get my hands on them (in the past) by ordering online, and even then not all the brands were easily accessible. During my visit to Sephora, I noticed that they had Anastasia (which I used to order from Beauty.com back in 2007 before all the hype) and Tarte (also ordered from Beauty.com only much later, around the time when they first introduced the Amazonian Clay Blush) and Becca (never owned anything from this brand before, but I’ve been dying to try the Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighters) and Kat Von D (never got a chance to order anything from this brand before either, but apparently everyone loves their Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks), just to name a few. They also sectioned off a whole area focused on skincare with the usual brands, some newer brands, and brands I’ve never even heard of before. Just before the cash register, they had an entire shelf dedicated to Face Masks and Scrubs (namely GlamGlow but there were some other brands including Peter Thomas Roth and Starskin). Best of all, when you queue in line at the check-out counter, instead of it being a straight line, it’s now more of a zigzag, with shelves on either side, chock-full of travel-sized minis of their most-loved and best-selling products!
I got a really cool Makeup Brush from Becca, and one of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks from Kat Von D in an absolutely stunning shade, but while waiting my turn at the new zigzag-y queue, couldn’t resist snatching up yet another travel-sized GlamGlow product. As intended, the zigzag-y queue is meant to sucker us into buying even more products before we leave Sephora. Myself as well as others will probably fall victim to the adorable travel-sized minis at the zigzag-y queue, many times over. So… kudos, Sephora, for your ploy has succeeded!
