At the Perfume & Makeup Exhibition (here), despite the fact that I actually said “no, thanks”, a sales assistant near the entrance, had gone ahead and spritzed some of Elie Saab Girl of Now (blue petals) on me. I glared at him angrily before continuing on my way (to check out the other booths). After some time, I noticed an interesting yet not unpleasant scent (a distinctly creamy sweet mixture of almonds and possibly hazelnut) emanating from where he’d sprayed my bomber jacket. So, once I was ready to leave the place, on my way out, I went back to his booth and asked to purchase the perfume he’d rudely yet cunningly spritzed on me earlier, which was Elie Saab Girl of Now.
I enjoy wearing nail polishes that I feel are unique. Recently, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect lavender nail polish which is why I picked up Light As Air by China Glaze. I feel it’s different, girly yet unexpected.
What is “Shatter” Polish? It’s a top coat that transforms into a really cool effect. Think of a plate falling to the floor and shattering into many pieces and that’s the the effect you get on your nails. In the photo above, Katy Perry is wearing the “Black Shatter” polish on her nails as a top coat over “Teenage Dream” (glittery pink nail polish in the line-up above). OPI launched this collection in January 2011. In May, OPI released 5 more “Shatter” nail polishes in other colors. Both “White Shatter” and “Red Shatter” were designed by Serena Williams for her “Grand Slam! France” Collection. The other three,”Blue Shatter”, “Navy Shatter”, and “Turquoise Shatter” will be released as stand-alone shades (not part of any collection). Notice how the tops on the “Shatter” polishes are different than the tops on normal (i.e. non-shatter) OPI nail polishes.
As I stated previously in this post the popular nail polish brand known as China Glaze is officially being sold in Kuwait (KD3/500 per bottle). You can find them on display in Debenhams (Souk Sharq, Avenues) and Va-Va-Voom (Marina Mall, Avenues) right next to the cashier’s counter. As for the colors available, they seem to be chosen randomly. Some nail polishes are from the permanent collection and some are from the limited edition collections… from several years ago. Occasionally, you might be able to find the 3-for-2 sets (instead of KD10/500, you only pay KD7/000 for 3 pre-chosen bottles).
It’s official! Nail polish aficionados rejoice because China Glaze Nail Polish is finally available in Kuwait! I purchased a few bottles at the Beauty Expo in Mishref Fair Grounds and was told that they are going to be available for purchase in all the co-ops soon! They retail for KD3/500 per bottle but the price is subject to change. I’m beyond excited!
Now, if you haven’t heard of China Glaze before, here’s a quick run-down. China Glaze is a professional nail polish brand that is continuously coming out with new nail polish collections that are always bang-on trend! What sets them apart is the fact that their nail polish contains nail hardeners. What this means is that your nail polish dries super fast. No more waiting forever for your nails to dry, no more hard to remove nail polish stains on your clothing, and best of all, no more annoying smudges!
