In hindsight, it wasn’t a bad year to be honest, well… at least not for me.
Rather than pay a little extra money for possibly older products at our local Sephora, I figured I’d pay less money for fresher products, directly from the Anastasia website.
– 30% off all Brow Products
– 30% off all Palettes
– 50% off Glow, Contour Kits and Stick Foundation
– Add a Brush for $10
– Free Collectible Case with the purchase of 2 Palettes
As you can see, they had a ton of deals and promos at the time, and the ones shown are just the ones I took advantage of.
I picked up x2 Eyeshadow Palettes and x2 Liquid Lipsticks and x2 Makeup Brushes a Contour Stick and a Mini Setting Spray. The rest were all Brow Products.
Oh and Anastasia ships directly to Kuwait so I ordered these straight to my doorstep.
Like I said in my post Chef LuLu Part 8 (here) an ex-friend (Mera) took me to Sephora on November 29 2020 to make up for ambushing me earlier.
I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d been to Sephora!
I was so happy to be back!
There were so much to look at, new brands, new products and new potential holy grails! There were all kinds of Gift Sets and Value Sets as well!
Not 5 minutes in, Mera started whining about being hungry.
I’d asked her if she’d picked up the Nars Blush that she’d wanted. Her reply was that she was so hungry and no longer interested in buying anything (which I suspected was her intent from the start).
She kept nagging and nagging, but I ignored her and eventually she just bounced lol
She said she’d go ahead of me to The Cheesecake Factory and I could just meet up with her afterwards.
Glad to be rid of her, I hurriedly agreed, but in hindsight, what she did was not cool.
She kept calling me and nagging me to come over but I ignored her. I wasn’t gonna’ cut my first visit to Sephora in such a long time short, for her.
However, I did pick up the Nars Blush (KD 13) that she’d wanted, to surprise her.
As for myself, I’d barely bought any Makeup in 2020, due to my health issues (heart palpitations), but by the end of the year I’d learned how to handle it and quite frankly, I had missed Makeup!
I walked outta’ there with two shopping bags (to make up for lost time lol)!
I got my first Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette which was reduced from KD 39 to KD 23/250
I also got the Too Faced Natural Eyes Neutral Eye Shadow Palette (which I’d been lusting after, ever since my Spotted at Sephora post, here) which was reduced from KD 13/750 to KD 9/500
I couldn’t help but get the Kat Von D Walnut Brow Struck Dimension Powder which was meant for the brows, but I thought would make a beautiful eyeshadow! Plus, it was reduced from KD 8/500 to KD 3/250
Those were the only discounted items I got, whereas I payed full price for the rest.
It wasn’t just all Makeup though.
It was mostly Skincare, with a few Hair Care items, Body Care and even a Perfume Mist.
I like how they went from asking me to flat-out stop taking pictures (here and here) to now offering to hold up the products for me while I take the picture LOL I spotted some of the New Collections (new to Kuwait, rather) and a new Hair Care Brand called Briogeo, some fun Asian Skincare and more than a few absolutely stunning Palettes! With that being said, now that I’m getting older, I find myself… dare I say it… kinda’ losing interest in makeup (I’m 33). Not a lot seems to wow me anymore. I’ve also noticed the same thing happening with my choice of fragrance (I’m starting to turn away from all things candy and find a lot of my once-beloved gourmands straight up annoying now). If I ever fall out of love with videogames though, I’d be completely devastated (might as well not live anymore, after that! lawl). Thankfully, that hasn’t happened… yet.
My cousin was wearing the cutest slides ever and when I asked her where she’d gotten them from, she said it was from one of the stores on the top floor of Mishref Co-op. Not wanting to miss out, I made it a point to get to Mishref Co-op the first chance I got. I found the store (I believe it was called Justice) but unfortunately they no longer had the slides in my size. I did however decide to take a quick peek at all the other stores on the top floor (The Body Shop which was right across from Bath & Body Works, Next, Payless and all the way at the end of the hall… the Makeup & Perfume Section!)
They had all sorts of brands at the Makeup & Perfume Section (photos below) meaning I could’ve potentially spent a lot of cash there, but a Sales Assistant was being obnoxious and highly annoying, so I payed for what was already in hand and quickly left the place, to spend my money elsewhere. I picked up a Jean Jacket from Next and a whole bunch of stuff from Bath & Body Works (but more on those in the next post).
I visited Sephora again (seriously, they need to move the store to a more accessible area of the Avenues already, like maybe switch out Sephora with Next so people can access Sephora both from inside and outside the mall for quick drive-bys. I mean their current location is so out of the way from everything else!) and also, because I still didn’t get my Brand Gift (for reaching 200 points) even though I’ve already received the e-mail from the Dubai branch of Sephora. While there, I spotted several new displays (as shown above), new products and new brands!!!!
For starters they had a Mini Mania display (sooo cute!) mostly of cult fave products available in mini-sizes separated into 4 categories (all of which we’ll be taking a much closer look at, below) ranging from Speedy Sport – Sunny Beach – Trendy Work – Funky Party.
I’ve only ever heard horrible things about Charmel in Kuwait; things like they are shady, sell expired products, sell knock-offs as the real thing to unsuspecting buyers, etc… Supposedly, this one girl got a nasty eye infection after purchasing DUO Lash Adhesive from Charmel and that’s only one of the many, many horror stories circulating about the Kuwaiti Branches of Charmel. Personally, I try to stay as far away as possible from any brand that seems remotely Arabic, just to avoid any funny business. I might’ve been coerced into getting my makeup “professionally” done at Charmel Salon (way back when I was a kid, it was a disaster, more on that below) but I can’t confirm if the two are affiliated with each other or not. I was at the Perfume & Makeup Exhibition (Mishref Fair Grounds, October-November) when I came across the Charmel booth. I’ve never ever purchased anything from the infamous Charmel before (neither the in-house brand products) or anything else they sold. As such, I decided to pick up a few things at their booth. I ended up getting a stunning pigment from the brand Make-Up Atelier International Maquillage Paris in the shade SL02 Blanc/Bleu, another adorable EOS Lipbalm in the flavor Pomegranate, the cult classic Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder and lastly a gorgeous Anastasia Glow Kit called That Glow.
