I believe it was around November 27 when Abby and I went to see Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (disappointing movie) at Cinescape (The Avenues).
We could’ve gone to any movie theater, but I insisted on Cinescape purely for their nachos (my fave)! I didn’t love the nachos over at Vox (The Avenues) and we’d gone to see Antlers (horrible movie) at Grand Cinemas (Hamra Tower) a few weeks prior and their nachos weren’t as nice either.
I ordered a thing of nachos asking them to hold the jalapenos and double the cheese instead, like I always do. However, this time the cheese tasted incredibly sour!
I asked Abby (who was fully engrossed in the movie, because like myself, she’d played Resident Evil on the Playstation as a kid) for her opinion on the nachos and she confirmed that the cheese was in fact quite sour. We stuck to our popcorn (hers salted, mine caramel) after that.
A few weeks later (December 12) Abby and I went to see House of Gucci (excellent movie) at Sky Cinema (Dalal Complex) because we wanted to feel pampered lol The point being that I didn’t get a chance to try out the nachos over at Cinescape to see if the overly sour taste had been a fluke.
On Saturday December 18, a big group of my friends went to see Spider-Man: No Way Home over at Cinescape (The Avenues) and out of all of them, only two girls ordered the nachos.
Both girls (separate households) ended up not being able to sleep at night from severe stomach cramps! They both ended up in the hospital as they were both diagnosed with food poisoning!
After I spoke with them, both of them swore up and down that they’d had nothing to eat aside from the nachos. They both got an IV drip and some meds and are feeling slightly better (but not enough to make it to work as they’re still quite weak).
I dunno’ what’s going on with Cinescape but maybe the cheese they are using had expired or mayhaps it’s just a bad batch? In any case, people should file a complaint (to warn others) until Cinescape gets their nachos situation sorted out (so others don’t get poisoned as well).
It’s a shame really, because as I said, out of all the movie theater nachos, the ones from Cinescape were my fave…
