Yves Saint Laurent Perfume Haul

YSL La Nuit de L’Homme Eau de Parfum (for my cousin)
YSL Black Opium Eau de Parfum (for his wife)

The Autumn Perfumes Exhibition took place at Mishref Fair Grounds (Halls 5,6,7,8) during October 24 and was meant to end on November 6, but was extended to November 9 (because… weekend).

At the Yves Saint Laurent booth, I picked up the new 2019 La Nuit de L’Homme Eau de Parfum for my cousin and the original Black Opium Eau de Parfum for his wife, as birthday gifts for them. Both full sizes were reduced to 50% off which I thought was a pretty good deal.

La Nuit de L’Homme Eau de Parfum

Top Notes: Grapefruit, Cardamom
Middle Notes: Clary Sage, Lavender Absolute, Leather
Base Notes: Patchouli, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Tonka

After sniffing several of the men’s offerings, I finally decided on purchasing La Nuit de L’Homme Eau de Parfum for my cousin. It did smell quite good and since it was new, I was sure he didn’t own it yet.

Obviously, I couldn’t break the seal, because I was going to be gifting it to my cousin, but I did include a picture to show you what the bottle looked like. It had a pretty cool geometric cap (hexagonal?) while the rounded bottle was actually clear! Somehow, the liquid inside retained the cool gradient effect (ombre) on it’s own! Pretty nifty, right?

Also, I thought the Cardamom in his perfume would compliment the Coffee in the perfume I was planning on getting for his wife beautifully! Between the both of them, they’d smell like a heavenly Coffee Shop lol

Black Opium Eau de Parfum

Top Notes: Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom
Middle Notes: Coffee, Jasmine
Base Notes: Vanilla, Patchouli, Cedarwood

I decided on getting the original Black Opium Eau de Parfum as a gift for my cousin’s wife. This is the second time I’ve gifted the original Black Opium as a gift to someone (first time, here), because honestly, out of all the different versions, the original smelled the best! I mean, it was (and still is) quite popular for a reason.

Again, I can’t break the seal, because it’s a gift. However, I did include a picture (even though it’s redundant, because those who are interested in the original Black Opium, have probably already seen it, at this point).

I did include a photo of my bottle of Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum Intense that I purchased online from Nordstrom at the beginning of the year (haulage here)… for reference. The bottle is a bit too wide and extra force is needed to press down on the atomizer for the thing to actually spritz.

While Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum Intense may not be my most favorite scent in the world, I’m slowly warming up to it, as I’m getting better at detecting the faint Coffee Note in this thing. As you can see, I’ve made a nice little dent (I’d say about 20%) which is progress (I hated the scent… at first).

That said, if I could go back in time, I’d totally purchase the original Black Opium for myself (because the Coffee Note is more prominent in that version) as opposed to Black Opium Intense. The only reason I’ve refrained from purchasing it for myself was because it’s so popular lol

This has no bearing on anything but it was bugging me how the bottle of Black Opium Intense looked almost black in photos, so I decided to hold it up during the daytime (on a hazy day… smart) and take a photo of it to showcase the blue bottle.

La Nuit de L’Homme Eau de Parfum (100mL) was reduced from KD 42/500 to KD 21/250
Black Opium Eau de Parfum (90mL) was reduced from KD 44 to KD 22

I asked to sniff the latest release for women, which was Libre Eau de Parfum, but was told that it hadn’t made it to Kuwait (too new). Also, the obnoxious female assistant that was “assisting” me was so pushy that I decided to forego giving Manifesto Eau de Parfum a sniff (heard it was nice) and just payed for the gifts and moved on. I wasn’t given any samples but 50% off was a really good deal, regardless.

All in all, this was yet another unpleasant experience for me at the Yves Saint Laurent booth lol However, both my cousin and his wife seemed pleased with their gifts, which in turn made me happy!
