ColourPop Reads My Blog! (Part 2)

A little over a year ago, I wrote a post titled ColourPop Reads My Blog (here). However, towards the end of that post, I tossed out a few “suggestions”, just to see if they actually did read my blog. I don’t know about you, but based on their releases during these past few months, it seems like they really do read my blog!

I said that I’d like to see them come out with Mascara, so ColourPop can truly be my 1-stop-shop! I even specified that I’d love a Comb Mascara (as opposed to a Brush Mascara), but if not, a Curvy Brush Mascara would do fine.

About 6 months later, ColourPop released their first ever Mascara and named it BFF Mascara! As you you can see, it was a Curvy Brush Mascara (kinda’ similar to Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara or L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara), currently available in 11 different shades.

My 2nd suggestion was an extremely fine, really slim, Liquid Eyeliner. I even specified that it should be somewhat similar to the L’Oreal Liquid Liner.

Sure enough, ColourPop came out with their first ever Liquid Liner in 8 different shades and named it BFF Liquid Liner.

My 3rd suggestion was for an actual Cool-Toned Palette, preferably one with lots of matte grays and shimmery taupes and maybe a douchrome-y lilac. Ideally, the darkest shade in the palette would be a “matte blackened teal“. Basically, kinda’ like the Urban Decay Smoky Palette. I even suggested the name “Pink Sands“.

During the Summer, ColourPop released a Cool-Toned Palette, but it was not what I had in mind (even if the darkest shade in the palette was a “matte blackened teal” or as they described it “matte navy“). They literally named the palette Blue Moon, which makes me feel like they’re trolling me lol… or maybe they’re just avoiding a lawsuit (I won’t sue, promise!)

Actually, you know what I think? I think they’re still going to release my palette (notice how I’m already claiming the as of yet, non-existent palette as mine lol), but they’re just waiting for the seasons to change (getting all the brights outta’ the way during the Summer) which is totally understandable.

Think about it. They’ve been churning out all these monochromatic palettes pretty regularly, so my beautiful, rainy day, cloudy sky, All-Grey, Taupe-y, Cool-Toned Palette will definitely be making an appearance in the next few months or so (during Winter)!

Getting Handsy (warm nude) is on your left and Perk Up (neutral nude) is on your right

My 4th suggestion was for some Matte Bronzing Shades (no shimmer, no glitter, no warm tones) or a Contouring Palette or even a single Super Shock Cheek (for bronzing).

Some of their newer shades of Pressed Powder Blush (as shown above) are nice and matte… ah forget it. This one seems like a bit of a stretch lol

Same goes for my 5th suggestion, which was for a dupe of the Chanel Ombre Contrast – Sculpting Veil for Eyes and Cheeks in the shade Notorious (mauve taupe). Maybe it’s in the works, maybe not…

My 6th suggestion was a dupe of the MAC 182 Buffer Brush and I specifically asked for a square base. Not sure if Sol Body counts as ColourPop, but it’s being sold up on the ColourPop website so…

Anyways, they came out with the Sol Body Kabuki Brush, but it didn’t have a square base and they didn’t name it The LuLu Brush like I’d suggested (heartbreaking).

My 7th suggestion was for some Makeup Sponges, specifically dupes of the Micro BeautyBlender. Still, nada’

My 8th suggestion was for scented and flavored Lip Gloss a la Bath&BodyWorks.

ColourPop released an entire new line of squeezy-tube Lip Gloss named So Juicy. I’m not sure if they’re meant to be flavored, but as with most “plumping” Lip Gloss, they smelled minty.

My 9th suggestion was for one of those Lip Tints that goes on Clear but reacts with the pH of your skin or temperature or whatever and turns into a Pink on the lips.

ColourPop recently came out with Lip Tints. I believe these were scented, but not flavored.

I haven’t spotted the color-changing one that I had suggested so maybe since these Lip Tints are fairly new, the color-changing shade is still in the works? Maybe they’ll release it as a Limited Edition Holiday Item (*hint* *hint* Colourpop)

My 10th suggestion was more shades of Lippie Stix

In comes The Big Box of Lippie Stix (some new and some repromotes).

My 11th suggestion was for ColourPop to either update the packaging on the Crème Gel Liners or just do away with them all-together.

I guess they just just updated the packaging and renamed them to BFF Crème Gel Liners. Other than aesthetics (outer packaging), I’m not sure if these perform any differently than the previous version (which was le garbage).

My 12th suggestion was for more inclusive swatches. They keep switching it up, but the end result is still effectively useless.

However, during yet another collab with Karrueche, they released the Brown Sugar Collection which was everything! The shades, the names, the packaging, everything was on point, which makes me a happy camper! I wish they’d release more collections similar to Brown Sugar!

My 13th suggestion (lucky number 13) was for them to fix their Order Details page, but somehow they’ve made it worse lol

My 14th suggestion was for a Collab/Collection that had something to do with Anime/J-RPGs.

Instead, they did me one better and came out with a collab with Disney, revamping several of the Disney Princesses! It was called the Disney Designer Collection! I was so excited, but sadly once the swatches came out, all the shades were… underwhelming.

I even wrote up an entire post about it (here).

In my ColourPop Disney Designer Collection post (dis) I mentioned that if it had been up to me, I would’ve come out with Pressed Powder Shadow Quads, each correlating to a specific Disney Princess.

Instead, ColourPop came out with new shades of Ultra Glossy Lips and lumped them in with the already existing Super Shock Shadows and Lipsticks, and sold them as a a Bundle/Set (3 items per Princess). For example:

Jasmine Collection (retails for $18):
Creme Lux Lipstick in the shade Jasmine
Super Shock Shadow in the shade A Whole New World
Ultra Glossy Lip in the shade Raja (new)

I thought that was just so lazy of them. There was so much potential here to do… better.

In that same post (dis), I stated that MAC did it better with their Venomous Villains Collection from several years back (haulage here).

On March 21 2019, ColourPop released the Disney Villains Collection!

So. Much. Yes.

The Collection included a 15-pan Eyeshadow Palette and 6 Jelly Much Shadows and 6 Super Shock Highlighters and 6 Lux Lipsticks and 6 Ultra Glossy Lips and 2 Glitterally Obsessed Body Glitters.

The Collection featured The Evil Queen (Snow White) and Dr. Facilier (Princess and the Frog) and Hades (Hercules) and Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) and Cruella de Vil (101 Dalmatians) and Ursula (The Little Mermaid).

You could choose to buy the entire PR Kit (that included everything) or buy the product you like individually, or as part of a smaller Kit (they had several Bundles, including one for each character).

Final Thoughts

I don’t know about you, but after all that, I’m totally convinced that the people over at ColourPop have read my ColourPop-related posts.

With that being said, I’ve pretty much stopped ordering from ColourPop, because they’ve been sneakily steadily increasing their prices. I’ll only order from them now, whenever they’ve got some sort of “sale”. Case in point, my last order was back in December 2018 and also happened to be during a “sale” (dis).
