Carrefour Haul (July)

I’d been meaning to hit up Carrefour (Avenues) to repurchase the Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara. Plus, our driver couldn’t find my beloved Torabika Cappuccino Instant Coffee in any of the local cooperatives. Plus, my older brother wanted me to pick up some Beef Jerky for him. Plus, my younger brother wanted me to pick up some Americana Mini Croissants to take to work with him (for his coworkers). Plus, the last time I’d popped in to Carrefour was back in January (dis) so it’s been a minute.

x3 Americana Mini Oregano Croissant (10pc) retails for KD /565 each

I picked these up for my younger brother (for him to take to work with him). He happily told me that they were a hit with his coworkers and were practically gone within seconds!

Americana Mini Chocolate Croissants (10pc) retails for KD /570

I picked this up for my younger brother to take to work as well. My nephew was fully stocked up since I’d just picked up a pack for him earlier (dis) and these things expire pretty quickly, so there’s no point in stocking up.

Al Rabie Orange Drink (125 x 18pc) retails for KD 1/035

I got this stuff for the kids (I may or may not have had a juice box or two). They might not look like it, but they’re actually in the mini size!

Torabika Cappuccino Instant Coffee (25g x 20pc) retails for KD 1/250

This was all me, baby! I’ve been guzzling this stuff since December 2018 (dis). My uncle’s wife introduced me to this stuff when she brought back a pack from her yearly vacay in her hometown in Lebanon and served me a cuppa’ at her place and I’ve been obsessed ever since!

The Big Pack (shown in the first pic) comes with x25 smaller Sachets, attached together (shown in second pic). To save myself (and our Cook) some time and effort, I’ll open up the Big Pack, separate the Sachets from each other and place them in a transparent, square, Tupperware Container and replace the lid.

As opposed to upending the powder into my fave Coffee Cup (dis) which dilutes the flavor, I’ll pour the powder into a more prim and proper Teacup. Then, I’ll pour the hot water from the Electric Kettle in small and steady stream (I’m very, very particular about this part, and go to great lengths to make sure that I haven’t added too much water all at once, because then the powder doesn’t “break up”), all while stirring the mixture with a spoon. Basically, I pour the water like a sociopath, but whatevs lol The final step is to sprinkle the Choco Powder (in the little packs attached to the back of the larger Sachets) shown in the last photo. The whole thing both smells and tastes divine!

Ideally, you’re supposed to have one, every now and again. However, in my case, I have about 5 cups a day, sometimes more (because… me). That’s definitely not healthy to have that many and that frequently, so I’m trying to quit, but I just can’t (I’m actually having a cup right now lol)

Side Note: Doesn’t the dude on the packaging sorta’ look like “The Mask”? lol

x2 Nescafe Salted Caramel retail for KD /200 each

These looked new-ish. I’ve yet to try them though.

x2 Vara Coconut Water with Pulp
x2 Vara Coconut Water with Mango
x1 Vara Coconut with Lychee
x1 Vara Coconut with Pomegranate
(320mL) retail for KD /245 each

Man was this stuff horrible! I picked up several (never learn) on a whim, but to be fair, doesn’t Coconut Water with Mango sound like it’d taste delightful? Yeah… no. All of these tasted… vile! Whether they were chilled or at room temp, they were all equally awful, even the plain Coconut Water with Pulp!

Serves me right for straying from my beloved Coco Mojo Pure Coconut Water (dis).

Sprite (150mL) retail for KD /140

LOL I started off buying the minis in twos (last month), but now (this month) I’m at the point where I buy the minis by the dozen (not joking). At least I’m still aiming for the minis and haven’t totally given up and just gone for the regular size.

x2 Jack Link’s Barbecue Beef Jerky (50g) retail for KD 1/430 each

These larger 50g ones in Barbecue were for my older brother.

x2 Jack Link’s Teriyaki Beef Jerky (25g) retail for KD /710 each

These smaller 25g ones in Teriyaki were also for my older brother.

x4 Jack Link’s Original Beef Jerky (25g) retail for KD /710 each

x2 of these smaller 25g ones in Original were for my older brother and x2 were for myself. He didn’t specify what he wanted. He just asked me if I could get him some Beef Jerky, so I got him a nice selection, I think.

x2 Nestle Fitness Toasties Lime & Cumin (36g) retail for KD /200

I didn’t actually know what this was, but I saw Nestle (brand I trust) and Fitness (my clothes have been feeling tighter on me) and Toasties (which reminded me of a previous season of Love Island because it was the cause of a fight between one of the “couples” lol) and Lime (one of my favorite things to put in my mouth) and was like, “sold“! It’s basically flavored Rusk and tastes great!

x2 Nestle Fitness Toasties Honey Mustard (36g) retail for KD /200

Not good. Not good, at all.

x2 Nestle Fitness Toasties Tomato & Herbs (36g) retail for KD /200

Very good. Very, very good. In fact, definitely worth a repurchase!

x2 Pringles Salt & Vinegar (200g) retail for KD /765 each

Over the years, I seem to have inadvertently conditioned myself to crave Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips whenever I drink large quantities of Sprite (or any other fizzy drink). It hurts so good!

Lay’s Smooth Ranch Dip (425g) retails for KD 1/395

Ooooh! I found this in the Potato Chip Aisle and just had to get it! It was sooo good! I particularly enjoyed dipping the Al Kabeer BBQ Chicken Wings (dis) into the Lay’s Smooth Ranch Dip!

Kuehne Tzaziki Sauce retails for KD /760

Take 2! Initially, I’d purchased this stuff about a month or so prior to this haul from the Salmiya branch of Sultan Center (dis), but the seal was already broken and I wasn’t about to risk it.

It was kismet that I spotted this stuff so soon again at Carrefour. Honestly? It was worth the wait! I’d dip a Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chip (dis) in the Tzaziki Sauce first and Old El Paso Chunky Medium Salsa next (dis), because that combo was bomb!

Sicilia Lime Juice retails for KD /280

Now this was the stuff I was going on and on about when I posted the Elote (Mexican Street Corn) Recipe (dis). Other than being pretty handy when I’m dabbling in some “cooking”, I’ve recently started squeezing a few drops of Sicilia Lime Juice into a tall glass and then pouring the Sprite in there and mixing the two together. I especially love doing that as soon as I walk in from work (when the heat is at its most unbearable), because I find this particular combo super refreshing!

x4 Caprice Papadopoulous Wafer Rolls with Hazelnut and Cocoa Cream Filling (53g) retail for KD /330 each

Another old-school fave, I’ve actually written up an entire post on these Caprice Papadopoulous Wafer Rolls (dis), but couldn’t forget about the impossibly cute mini ones (spotted earlier here), which is why I hunted them down and got them for the kids and myself. These things are basically, crack (in the sense that you can’t just have one)! So good!

Wrigley’s Extra Blueberry Gum retails for KD /125

I always grab a pack or a tub of Chewing Gum at the checkout counter (dis) and proceed to lose the thing by the time I’m actually home lol

I hit up the Essence counter to repurchase my new-found favorite Mascara and possibly pick up another potential favorite Mascara, but heard them announce over the P.A. that Carrefour was going to be closing down for the night in about 15 minutes or so and in a frenzy, accidentally grabbed a Waterproof Mascara.

Essence I Love Extreme Volume Mascara (waterproof) retails for KD 1/750

I don’t do Waterproof Mascara, mainly because they’re a nightmare to remove :(

x2 Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara retails for KD 2/000

I purchased this baby back in January (dis), but didn’t get around to trying it until much later… and absolutely fell in love! The curved brush on this thing is very reminiscent of the brush on my beloved Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara (dis) which for whatever reason is no longer available for purchase locally. It’s amazing on both my top and bottom lashes! As an added bonus, the packaging totally gave me Anna Sui vibes and the whole thing only cost KD 2/000!!!!

All dis ended up being KD 25/840 which is fair, I suppose.
