Even though I’d already ordered from Nordstrom at the start of June (dis), I placed another order at the end of June, mainly because I wanted a second Hair Care Sample Pack (dis) which happened to still be available (at the time). After this order though, I think I’m gonna’ cool it with Nordstrom (for a bit). It’s just too hot to be ordering stuff online.
Anyways, I got something from Alterna and two more somethings from Bumble and Bumble. Other than the Hair Care Sample Pack there was an Alterna Gift With Purchase and Bumble and Bumble Gift With Purchase which included deluxe samples from each brand! Yaaay!
I also got some more Bar Soaps and Candles to qualify for the Fragrance Sample Pack (dis). I was actually interested in purchasing Mojave Ghost from Byredo and Philosykos from Diptyque as Perfumes, but it was way too hot to risk (the heat might alter the contents and therefore the scent). So, I got them as Bar Soaps instead. Plus, this way, I could “test” the scents first, rather than buying them as Perfumes and possibly ending up hating them.
The Makeup stuff was from Benefit and I only got them because I really, really had my heart set on the Benefit Gift With Purchase that came with a very, very cute Benefit Clear Tote Bag and some samples. Also, it helped bump up the total of my order so I could qualify for the latest Sample Pack (dis).
– Benefit 3D BROWtones Instant Color Eyebrow Highlights in the shade Deep Teal
– Benefit Concealin & Dealin Duo (2pc) in shade 3 Medium Neutral
– Benefit Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation SPF 15 (Mini) in the shade 6 Medium Warm
Like I said, I thought the Tote Bag that came with Benefit Gift With Purchase was pretty cute, but to qualify for it, I had to purchase some stuff from Benefit hence dis.
Benefit 3D BROWtones Deep Teal Instant Color Eyebrow Highlights (0.2 oz.) retails for $24 (KD 7/860)
What It Is: A long-wear, water-resistant Brow Gel that gives your brows instant color highlights.
What It Does: It brings depth and dimension while adding a subtle, natural-looking highlight that gives a soft contrast to darker brows and depth to lighter brows.
Its custom, spiral, curved brush applies product evenly from root to tip. The comb tip was specially designed to fit even the narrowest parts of the brows to instantly define and perfect your arches.
The water-resistant formula stays put for up to 12 hours and it can be worn alone or over your favorite brow product.
How To Use: Brush the formula through your brow hair, building color as desired. Use the mini-comb tip to blend and shape.
I can’t let go of the notion of rockin’ Green Eyebrows. I’m not talkin’ crazy neon Lime Green. I mean something more subtle and understated. Something that’ll look dark initially, but in certain lighting, will show a hint of color. I’ve even mentioned this before, when I picked up the Urban Decay Waterline Pencil in the shade Street, which was a matte Dark Green (dis), but I’ve always sorta’ liked the idea of Green Brows (by always, I mean 2009 lol).
That’s why although Benefit 3D BROWtones was available in several colors, I went for Deep Teal (closest thing to Green) straight away. The packaging was stupid (I’m kinda’ over the whole retro “Magic Show” packaging from Benefit), but the product itself was exactly what I’d been looking for this whole time!
Benefit Concealin & Dealin Duo ($30 Value) retails for $22 (KWD 7/200)
Benefit Duo (shade #3 Medium Neutral) includes:
– Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer (0.17 oz.)
– Travel-size Boi-Ing Industrial Strength Concealer (0.04 oz.)
What It Is: A two-piece Concealer Set featuring everything you need for total complexion perfection.
What It Does:
– Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer (0.17 oz.) is a sheer-to-medium, soft-focus concealer that blurs, smooths and conceals. The lightweight concealer covers unevenness, dark under-eye circles and fine lines with a flawless finish that is virtually undetectable on skin
– Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer (0.04 oz.) is a full-coverage, matte concealer that stays put and covers everything from heavy-duty dark circles to blemishes and discoloration, all with a matte finish.
I’ve been meaning to try these Concealers from Benefit (even before they revamped the entire line), but as with most Benefit products, there was just so many different lines and different shades, and it was all just… kinda’ overwhelming, really.
That’s why when I clocked this baby, I jumped on it immediately. It came with a full size Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer (lightweight which was what I prefer) and a mini Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer (heavier and therefore not my thing, but great for “experimenting”). Plus, it seemed like a pretty good deal, only paying $22 for a $30 Value Set. Also, the packaging (the products and the box they came in) was pretty cute!
It was only available in the shades Fair/Cool and Light/Neutral and Medium/Neutral. I just went for the darkest shade available.
Benefit Hello Happy Medium Warm (6) Soft Blur Foundation SPF 15 (0.2 oz) retails for $10 (KD 3/270)
What It Is: A light-to-medium coverage Liquid Foundation with broad-spectrum SPF 15 sunscreen that delivers a natural matte finish to skin.
The full size Brow Gel and the Concealer Duo still weren’t enough to qualify me for the Benefit Gift With Purchase. So, I grabbed this lil cutie to bump up the total. For reference, the full size was 1 oz. while the Mini was 0.2 oz (as shown). The size was even depicted inside the outer packaging (2nd photo).
Since I had no clue which shade to go for, I chose my shade based on the models (1 being the lightest and 12 being the darkest) and ended up getting 6 Medium/Warm (sounds about right).
As you can see, it didn’t survive the trip. Nothing a good wipe-down couldn’t fix, but still. My fault for ordering Makeup online in this heat. Thankfully, I’d gone with the Mini, as opposed to the full size, otherwise I would’ve been devastated (well, really upset, at least).
That said, I wasn’t really that invested in this thing, that’s why I wasn’t really all that annoyed. I’d just needed something, to increase the total and help me qualify for the Benefit Gift With Purchase. I went with this thing because it was lower-priced (I was only a few bucks shy to qualify) and it was cute and I figured it’d be a good way to test out the Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation.
Benefit Gift with Purchase
Receive a Large Zip-Top Pouch and deluxe samples of The POREfessional Face Primer (0.1 oz.) and BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara (0.1 oz.) with your $50 Benefit Purchase. $42 Value
Since the total of the stuff from Benefit was more than $50 I qualified for the Benefit Gift With Purchase. It came with the Tote Bag (which was the main thing I had my eye on) and x2 samples stuffed in there.
Benefit 2019 Hoola Clear Tote Bag
The Tote Bag was actually clear (but I didn’t feel like removing all the tissue paper and whatnot, because I had a lot of stuff left to photograph, for this post, and I wanted to keep it movin’).
Depicted on the face of the Tote Bag in coral-pink was “Beach Please” (which was the entire reason I needed this thing in my life lol) and right above it was an appropriately beach-y Leaf Print (well, just the two). So cute!
The hardware was gold-toned (eww). The handles (thick and sturdy) and zip-compartment, both felt like they were made out of canvas material. The zip-compartment pouch thing-y (very technical, I know) had some fun multi-color thread detailing going on and a cute coral-red tassel on the zip.
I just thought this Benefit Tote Bag was insanely cute! That’s why I spent my money on Benefit Makeup Products… to get this Tote Bag for free (Logic!)
Benefit The POREfessional Face Primer (0.1 oz.)
This was in the Tote Bag too. I’ve received so many samples of this stuff already, so I kinda’ feel indifferent about the POREfessional (it’s a Primer and it works, not much else to say). The packaging though, I strongly dislike.
Benefit BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara (0.1 oz.)
This was in the Tote Bag too. Now this I was excited about! More Mascara? Score!
So, this was everything I got from Benefit. Again, I only payed for the x3 makeup-y bits (on the left) to qualify for the ridiculously cute Tote Bag, which happened to come with x2 more makeup-y bits (on the right). I needed that Tote Bag!
– Anthropologie Capri Blue Print Tin Scented Candle in the scent Volcano
– Voluspa Noir Classic Maison Candle in the scent Vervaine Olive Leaf
Like I said, I picked up x2 Scented Candles to qualify for the Fragrance Sample Pack (dis), and also, because I love Candles.
Anthropologie Volcano Capri Blue Print Tin Scented Candle (8.5 oz.) retails for $16 (KD 5/240)
Volcano: Tropical Fruits, Sugared Oranges, Lemons and Limes, redolent with lightly exotic Mountain Greens.
I don’t believe I’ve ever actually purchasing anything from Anthropologie before, but it seemed like they specialized in decorative Homeware (from Serveware and Cutlery to Bedding and Stationary and so on), the kind that you’d see all artfully strewn about in the background, of pretty pictures on Instagram.
I was only interested in their Scented Candles, of which they had many, in repeating scents, but varying sizes and styles (think glass jars in a hammered metal finish and opalescent pearl-y finish and ombre color schemes… basically decorative designs, none of which appealed to me).
The scent Volcano sounded intriguing. I kept coming across it in different sizes and styles, but I went for the smallest (and therefore cheapest) version available, which was the Capri Blue Print Tin (as shown). It wasn’t my favorite style, but the Blue Print Tin was far less bougie than some of those others.
The Candle came in bubble wrap (for obvious reasons) inside a generic cardboard box. Thank God for that, because as you can see, the Candle did not survive the trip. The weather in Kuwait was so hot, that it’d melted my newly purchased and un-lit Scented Candle! lol It was all greasy and everything (you can kinda’ see the wax on the outside of the tin)! I suppose I could always just dig out the wick to light the darn thing.
In any case, Volcano was not what I was expecting, at all. I don’t know what I was expecting, honestly, but with a name like that, it wasn’t this. Volcano smelled like Skittles! It was all citrus-y and sweet and delicious, but also, easily dupeable from Bath & Body Works. I’m glad I got to sniff Volcano though, for future reference (in case it ever comes out in prettier packaging or something).
Voluspa Noir Vervaine Olive Leaf Classic Maison Candle (12 oz.) retails for $29 (KD 9/500)
Vervaine Olive Leaf: French Lemon and Crushed Olive Leaves combined with a Rosewood Heart.
Voluspa was another equally bougie brand (or so I feel). However, they had a wider variety of intriguing scents and more interesting designs in all kinds of sizes. I’d actually purchased one of their Macaron Candles in the scent French Toast earlier (dis) and received a smaller version as a Gift With Purchase later on (dis).
Based on my affinity for the scent of the Nivea “A Kiss of Olive Oil & Lemon” Lip Balm (dis) and my inability to repurchase it, I’ve been snatching up Olive-Scented products recently, in the hopes of stumbling on something that might smell similar to it.
That’s why I specifically chose the scent Vervaine Olive Leaf. It was a bit pricier than the average Voluspa Candle, but it was from the beautiful Noir range (as evident by the black packaging) and significantly larger too.
Typically, I’d find the ornate packaging a bit… gaudy, but in this case, I quite liked it (mainly because of the color scheme). Shame that the outer packaging arrived pretty banged up, otherwise I totally would’ve re-purposed it (to store my Makeup Brushes or something). Thankfully, the packaging on the Candle itself was less… busy. Personally, I thought it looked pretty cool!
Vervaine Olive Leaf smelled nice and clean and herbal-y and just all around pleasant! It kinda’ reminded me of Shampoo, actually. It wasn’t what I was hoping for, but it was a really nice scent, in its own right!
Volcano smelled like Skittles and had kinda’ ugly packaging and arrived already melted. Vervaine Olive Leaf smelled like Shampoo and had pretty cool packaging and arrived intact.
– Byredo Bar Soap in the scent Mojave Ghost
– Diptyque Bar Soap in the scent Philosykos
Since the Candles on their own weren’t enough to qualify me for the Fragrance Sample Pack (dis), I went ahead and added x2 Soaps. I was actually more interested in purchasing them as Perfumes, but figured it was too hot for that right now. Also, since I’ve never sniffed either one, I didn’t know if they were worth committing to.
However, as Soaps, I’d get a chance to sniff both scents before splurging on them as Perfumes. Plus, the Soaps cost considerably less, and were more likely to survive the trip in this heat. With that being said, I have yet to use either one, because I’m currently working my way though the rather large Bath & Body Works Bergamot + Black Pepper Body Bar (dis) and I’ve only got one Soap Dish.
Byredo Mojave Ghost Bar Soap (5.3 oz.) retails for $30 (KD 9/820)
The soulful beauty of the Mojave Desert is as comforting to many as it is hostile to others. In this dry wilderness a rare species dares to blossom above the baked, hard ground. Its pale, almost translucent petals suggest a delicate, fragile state.
Mojave Ghost is a woody composition with a light and graceful character that slowly discloses its true intensity. Heady top notes of musky ambrette combine with sweet, fresh Jamaican nesberry. Delicate, powdery violet then unfurls to reveal soft, lingering sandalwood brightened with fresh magnolia. Finally, warm chantilly musk rounds out a base of crisp amber and elegant cedarwood, leaving the spirit of Mojave Ghost to linger on the skin.
Top Notes: Ambrette
Middle Notes: Magnolia, Sandalwood, Violet.
Base Notes: Cedarwood, Chantilly Musk, Crisp Amber.
Byredo can be found at our local Harvey Nichols (The Avenues). However, the staff at the Perfume and Cosmetics section are just as horrible, if not more so, than the staff at the Perfume and Cosmetics section at Debenhams (Souq Sharq).
I don’t know if they’re purposefully pitted against each other, but they pretty much all behave like a pack of rabid dogs, each one willing to do anything to out-do the other and gain your attention, and once they have it, showing you everything, except the one thing you actually asked for. I’ve had horrible experiences at Debenhams (dis) and Harvey Nichols (dis) which is why I now actively choose to avoid both.
With that being said, I did pop into Harvey Nichols back in January, on my hunt for Mugler Angel Muse (dis), and happened to stop by the Byredo counter, while I was at it. I was there to check out Bal d’Afrique, but ended up falling for Bibliothèque. However, I was annoyed enough by the sales assistants, enough to leave empty-handed. Prior to that visit (way before I’d developed a full-blown obsession with Perfumes), I’d given the infamous Gypsy Water a sniff and loved it too, but was outright shocked by the price. Now that I know better, I’ve grown accustomed to finding out that certain Perfumes can cost, y’know, a kidney.
Since I couldn’t find either Bibliothèque or Gypsy Water to purchase as a Bar Soap from Nordstrom, I went with Mojave Ghost. It was a “blind-buy” ‘cuz I wasn’t interested in digging out my passport out and traveling all the way to The Avenues (it’s always a journey), just to give Mojave Ghost a sniff. Thankfully, from what I’m smelling through it’s outer packaging, Mojave Ghost doesn’t smell offensive (lol the bar is set so low)… yet. I’ll know more, with use, obviously.
This has nothing to do with anything but MAC Canyon Dreamin’ (dis) and now Byredo Mojave Ghost. Weird. I’d bet anything, that for the next few weeks, my life is going to be all rock formations and deserts and whatnot. Not to say they weren’t there before (I mean Mojave Ghost was released in 2014), but now, that’s all that’s going to stand out to me (kinda’ like the Mushroom thing, earlier) lol
Diptyque Philosykos Bar Soap (5.3 oz.) retails for $30 (KD 9/820)
The memory of a Greek summer at Mount Pelion where, to get to the sea, there was a natural grove of wild sun-soaked fig trees to cross through. Philosykos is an ode to the entire fig tree: the green freshness of the leaves, the milky flavour of the figs, underpinned by the woody density of the tree.
“Philosykos” means “friend of the fig tree” in Greek. A tree whose leaves and a few branches brought back in a memory box was the source of inspiration.
Top Notes: Fig Leaf, Fig
Heart Notes: Fig Sap, Coconut
Base Notes: Fig Tree Wood, White Cedar, Black Pepper, Musk
So pretty much Fig on Fig on Fig lol
Truthfully, I’ve been extremely interested in giving Philosykos and Do Son a sniff from Day 1… purely based on the names. Do Son in particular seemed to be a bestseller. However, a quick glance at the notes, would show that it was a floral and I don’t do florals. That left only Philosykos. After much humming and hawing, rather than getting the actual Perfume, I decided to “test” out the scent by going for the Bar Soap instead.
In order to preserve it, for when I’m ready to start using it, I haven’t unwrapped the protective plastic film yet. However, it’s my understanding that each full size Bar Soap from Diptyque had an image of the correlating scent carved into the soap (for example, Do Son – which was the name of a Resort Town in Vietnam – had images of a traditional “Junk” Ship floating on a river, and with Philosykos it was a Fig Tree and with Eau Rose it was a Rose) as well the scent’s name and the brand’s logo. The image differed from Eau de Parfum to Eau de Toilette to Candle to Bar Soap, but they were all equally intricately detailed and
As children, my younger brother and I, would pick Figs and eat them right off the Fig Tree outside our home in Cyprus. It wasn’t Greece, but their official language was Greek. Obviously, I’ve had Figs since then. In fact, one of the go-to desserts during Ramadan is a sickly sweet combination of Dates and Fig Cookies/Biscuits. Personally, I prefer my Figs either totally dehydrated or fresh. So since I tend to enjoy eating Figs, it stood within reason, to assume that I’d enjoy Philosykos (logic!) If I end up loving the scent, I’ll just go ahead and order the actual Perfume, once the weather allows. If not, Soaps are always handy. Win, win.
– Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It Thick (H)air Styler
– Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder in the shade Brownish
– Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Multiplying Volume Styling Mousse
– Mugler Beautifying Hair Mist in the scent Alien
I’d already snagged the Hair Care Sample Pack (dis) at the beginning of June, but since it was still available, figured I’d try my luck at getting a second one, because it included a lot of suh-weet products!
I picked up the two items from Bumble and Bumble that I’d wanted the first time around, but didn’t get adn were sorta’ on my impromptu Bumble and Bumble Wish List (dis). They not only qualified me for a Bumble and Bumble Gift With Purchase, but also a Bumble and Bumble Bonus Gift! Basically, more hair stuff to play around with! I also snatched up a thing of Mousse from Alterna, which also happened to come with an Alterna Gift With Purchase.
All of these were only available in the full size (no travel-size or minis), as far as I know. Also, I haven’t had a chance to use any of them just yet.
Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It Thick (H)air Styler (5 oz.) retails for $31 (KD 10/150)
Conditioning Creme that reduces frizz and adds control, for a refined, defined, impossibly easy air-dried style.
There were 2 versions of this baby. 1 for Thick Hair and 1 for Fine Hair. They both came in the 5 oz. size and the cuter and more travel-friendly 2. oz size. While Fine was available in both sizes, Thick was only available in the 5 oz. size. At the time of my previous order (dis), this baby wasn’t even available at all (out of stock). At the time of this order, it was back, hence dis.
I’ve always been a huge advocate of letting hair dry naturally a.ka. air dry. Aside from the obvious benefits of not frying the hair by not using hot tools to dry it faster, it was also more low-maintenance. Just wash and go (basically, zero effort). In fact, it was pretty much my go-to “style” during college. Based on my affinity for air styling, I had to get this (H)air Styler!
Bumble and Bumble Brownish Hair Powder (4.4 oz.) retails for $36 (KD 11/790)
Tinted Dry Shampoo that absorbs excess oil, adds volume, boosts texture and enhances and refreshes hair color.
Still on the hunt for a dupe of my beloved Batiste A Hint of Colour “Medium & Brunette” Dry Shampoo (dis). Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo in the shade Brunettes (dis) was an absolute joke! So much of a joke that it deserves it’s very own post, really. I hadn’t gotten a chance to use the Travel-Size Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo in the shade Dry Tones yet (dis), but I was placing an order with Nordstrom regardless, and I needed to bump up the total, to qualify for the B&B Gift With Purchase and B&B Bonus Gift and Hair Care Sample Pack (dis). Also, I just really, really wanted this thing, because going so long without my beloved Batiste was bumming me out, and I needed to find a dupe already. This stuff was only available in the shades Brownish and Blondish, in case you’re interested.
Bumble and Bumble Gift with Purchase
Receive deluxe samples of Prêt-a-Powder Très Invisible Dry Shampoo (0.5 oz.) and Go Big Thickening Treatment (1 oz.) and Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer (1 oz.) with your $45 Bumble and Bumble purchase. $18 Value
Since the 2 items I got from Bumble and Bumble were $67 I totally qualified for the Bumble and Bumble Gift With Purchase and as luck would have it, the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer (please make the name longer, guys) was out of stock and therefore was replaced with another Surf Spray! Sadly, just like the one that came in the Hair Care Sample Pack (dis), the itty-bitty Surf Spray had leaked all over everything… again. Thankfully, they’d arrived in a separate plastic pouch of their own and honestly, it wasn’t anything a little rinse and wipe-down couldn’t fix.
– Prêt-a-Powder Très Invisible Dry Shampoo (0.5 oz.)
– Go Big Thickening Treatment (1 oz.)
– Surf Spray (0.5 oz.)
Bumble and Bumble Prêt-a-Powder Très Invisible Dry Shampoo (0.5 oz.)
More Dry Shampoo to play around with? Oui, s’il vous plaît!
Bumble and Bumble Go Big Thickening Treatment (1 oz.)
The bigger the hair, the closer to Heaven! Facts. For real though, this baby was on my impromptu Bumble and Bumble Wish List too (dis). Now, I don’t gotta’ splurge on the full size to find out if it works or nah.
Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray (0.5 oz.)
Between this one and the other two that I got in each Hair Care Sample Pack (dis), I now own x3 itty-bitty 0.5 oz. bottles of Surf Spray! Granted, all three had spilled in-transit and in reality I barely had 0.5 oz between them lol Still, super excited and thankful and grateful and just so, so, sooo happy with the Surf Spray!
Bumble and Bumble Bonus Gift
With your $65 Bumble and Bumble purchase, also receive a deluxe sample of Repair Blow Dry Cream (2 oz.). $15 Value
Since the 2 items I got from Bumble and Bumble were $67 I totally qualified for the Bumble and Bumble Bonus Gift too! It arrived swathed in bubble wrap and therefore unharmed.
Bumble and Bumble Repair Blow Dry Cream (2 oz.)
They had several of these Blow Dry Creams in similar packaging, but different colors. The Silver-y one was called Straight Blow Dry (for course, curly or frizzy hair) and the Purple-y one as shown was called Repair Blow Dry (for dry and damaged hair) while the Blue was called All-Style Blow Dry (for healthy hair, even fine or oil-prone). As the name denotes, it’s meant to be applied to the hair before blow drying.
I’m kinda’ curious to see how it’ll perform when used with my trusty National Hair Styler (dis). Also, pretty stoked that it’s such a generously sized sample!
Just for buying the 2 products on the right (which I actually
wanted needed), I got the other 4 products on the left to play around with! I feel like I don’t say this enough, but I just love Nordstrom!
Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Multiplying Volume Styling Mousse (8.2 oz.) retails for $30 (KD 9/820)
Lightweight Medium-Hold Mousse to help thicken and strengthen hair while boosting fullness and volume and styling without a sticky finish.
I don’t recall every actually purchasing anything from Alterna, but I have received an endless amount of deluxe samples of their products (as a Gift With Purchase) from the now defunct Beauty.com (dis) and truly enjoyed most of them, particularly the Alterna Bamboo Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist.
I actually had my eye on the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter (I’m thinkin’ it was the cutesy pink packaging) during my previous order, but figured I’d get it at a later time (if they included an Alterna Gift With Purchase). They did, except it happened to be a deluxe sample of the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter lol
Since their Shampoos and Conditioners didn’t interest me and the rest of their stuff sounded intimidating (clinical this and bond restructuring that… dude, I just wanted to have some volume in my hair, not surgery) and the cooler stuff that I actually wanted seemed old (the entire Alterna Bamboo range and entire Alterna Caviar Resort range), I didn’t know what to get. They did have some Leave-In Creams and Volumizing Mists that seemed promising, but I’d already just purchased a handful of both, earlier (from different brands).
Eventually, I went with the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Multiplying Volume Styling Mousse. I like using Mousse on my hair, especially during the Summer. It’s just easy. Plus, this stuff promised Multiplying Volume (yes.) and I’m all about that life, baby! Also, I’d clicked the “sort by newest” option and it happened to be the third newest (so, not old and expired). Best of all, it cost $30, which was the exact amount I needed to qualify for the Alterna Gift With Purchase.
Alterna Gift with Purchase
Receive deluxe samples of Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Dry Oil Mist (0.85 oz.) and Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter (0.85 oz.) with your $30 ALTERNA® purchase. $24 Value
Since the Mousse cost exactly $30 I qualified for the Alterna Gift With Purchase too! Both were from the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz range (basically, me) in the cutesy pink packaging. The Dry Oil Mist sounded practical, but the Blowout Butter sounded wunderbar!
Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Dry Oil Mist (0.85 oz.)
I’d already received the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Volume Styling Mist in the Hair Care Sample Pack (dis), two actually, since I’d qualified for another, through this order. That said, I was just as excited about the Smoothing Anti-Frizz version as I was about the Volume Styling version. After all, this was Kuwait, and in about a month or so, we were going to be experiencing that delightful shirt-stuck-to-back level of humidity (good times), so I’m interested to see how this performs then.
Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter (0.85 oz.)
Since I bought the big thing of Mousse, I got the other two for free. Honestly, at those prices, I’m expecting miracles (not joking)
Mugler Alien Beautifying Hair Mist retails for $40 (KD 13/100)
Alien: Jasmine Sambac, Cardamom, Orange Blossom, Cumin, Cashmeran, Amber, Heliotrope.
I know the weather has been a nice and toasty 43-46°C (109-114°F)… on a good day lol and I really shouldn’t be ordering any more Perfumes (precisely the reason why I went for the Soaps and Candles shown above), but (there’s always a but), I got a sample of Mugler Alien Eau de Parfume in May (dis) and was intrigued by it’s resemblance to two impossibly gorgeous Perfumes… that were no longer in production.
However, there was a kinda’ “iffy” note in there. Those itty bitty Perfume Samples aren’t really the best at giving you a true feel for a scent, honestly. I didn’t wanna’ risk splurging on the full size only to find that the “iffy” note was unbearable. I didn’t wanna’ wait either, because what if it really was a dupe! Mugler Alien Beautifying Hair Mist was the perfect solution!
Gifts with Purchase
I qualified for x3 Sample Packs for the month of June, with this order (2 were new and 1 was a repeat). However, I’ve already made separate posts for each of them (just more convenient for me that way), so if you’re interested in any of them, just click the correlating linkage.
Sample Pack (June)
Yours when you spend $125 on Beauty or Fragrance. Enjoy travel-friendly samples from Charlotte Tilbury and Bobbi Brown and Supergoop! and more.
Since this order happened to total more than $125, I qualified for this Sample Pack. I wasn’t really feelin’ it, but it did come with a few pretty decent samples and a cool makeup bag. I listed the contents in my previous post (here).
Fragrance Sample Pack (June)
Get a Free Gift when you spend $85 on Women’s Fragrance. Discover your next favorite scent with samples from Diptyque and Tom Ford and Yves Saint Laurent and more.
I made it a point to qualify for this particular Fragrance Sample Pack (by purchasing x2 Scented Bar Soaps and x2 Scented Candles and a Scented Hair Mist), because I really wanted to sample all those Fragrance Samples lol I listed the contents (notes and everything) in my previous post (here).
x2 Hair Care Sample Pack (June)
Typically, Nordstrom switch out these monthly Sample Packs pretty regularly (I’m assuming because they go out of stock). However, since the Hair Care Sample Pack (which I’d received at the beginning of the month, with a previous order) was still available, and I happened to be lusting after a few specific Hair Care products, I decided to just go ahead and get them and qualify for another Hair Care Sample Pack while I was at it. Once again, the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray had leaked all over the entire contents of the Hair Care Sample Pack (3 for 3). I listed the contents of the Hair Care Sample Pack my previous post (here).
– Aveda invati™ Advanced Three-Step Kit
– Chanel Le Révolution Volume de Chanel Mascara
– Diptyque 34 Eau de Toilette
As per usual, with every order, you got to pick out x3 single-use samples. This time though, one of them was a 3pc Hair Care Kit from Aveda and it contained more than a single-use amount! The other sample I chose was of the Chanel Mascara with the world’s first 3D-Printed Brush! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I clocked it in the samples list! For the last sample, I picked up yet another fragrance from Diptyque in the scent 34.
Diptyque 34 Eau de Toilette (Sample)
A new facet of the iconic shop of 34 boulevard Saint-Germain: bathed in a golden light warming the blond wood counters. A creation combining velvety sandalwood and enveloping vanilla, enhanced by the freshness of pink berries.
Top Notes: Blackcurrant, Citruses, Green Leaves, Fir, Pink Pepper, Cardamom, Cloves, Cinnamon
Middle Notes: Rose, Geranium, Tuberose, Iris, Violet
Base Notes: Wood Notes, Resins, Balsams, Eucalyptus
Haven’t sniffed it yet, because my nose is burnt out (dis).
Chanel Le Révolution Volume de Chanel Mascara (sample)
The world’s first 3D-Printed Brush! So. Much. Yes.
Aveda invati™ Advanced Three-Step Kit (Sample)

More Hair Care stuff? Suh-weet!
Even the samples at the time of this order were awesome!
Here’s everything in this order, a few makeup-y bits, a few candles, a few soaps, a few hair things and a ton of samples! There were a few fallen soldiers (mini foundation and candle), but everything else was relatively fine. I’m pretty happy and grateful for all dis, but I think I’m gonna’ cool it with Nordstrom… for now. Like I said, it’s way too hot to be ordering anything online at the moment. As always, hope you enjoyed this post!
