On Halloween, I found myself at Sultan Center (Souq Sharq) with a few friends, because we needed stuff… for stuff, y’know?
There was a Pumpkin on display in the fresh produce aisle, which I thought was kinda’ cute!
Also, with every KD 10 spent, you got an entry to win “more than 100 prizes” in the weekly draw, in addition to the grand prize which was a McLaren. That said, you had to be signed up for The Sultan Center Reward Cards. I wasn’t interested in signing up (too lazy) and the McLaren wasn’t enough of a temptation. Had it been a DeLorean or a Testarossa that would’ve been a completely different matter lol
Still… infinitely better than the Scratch & Win promo they had going on earlier (here).
Blankets & Throws
I’ve bought a ton of these in the past, so my guests can feel comfy and cozy in our at-home Cinema Room (not all of them would freely admit it, but “alpha males” like soft and fluffy things just as much as girls do). In fact, any time my brother would invite his friends over to watch the game (not sure how he gets the Bein Sports Satellite Receiver + his personal Laptop + Cinema Room Projector to all work together, but for him, somehow they just do) he’ll get a lot of questions about these babies.
I got them a long time ago in muted blues and muted greys and muted seafoam green… basically muted colors lol all from Sultan Center. His friends would go to Sultan Center at a later time, but they wouldn’t find any. So apparently, these appear in and out of stock. As you can see from the photo, they’re currently in stock right now. The crazy colors and designs are up front, while the classic single-color ones are in the back. I don’t like that they don’t come with protective packaging of some sort, but that’s okay, because you can just toss them in the wash (just make sure to read the label beforehand).
Blankets & Throws
Some more options, in case you’re interested (everything from microfiber to faux fur and all of them, super soft)! Other than at an at-home Cinema Room, these would be great for guests at the chalet during Winter, or for the elders in your family who like to sit outside in the garden during Winter, or for the readers in your family (who like to curl up on the couch with a good book or Kindle), or more likely when you’re binging a show on Netflix. They’d also make a cute gift for someone (or even a couple) who just moved into a new apartment!
Honestly, this display is ancient! Everything shown has probably already expired… ten times over. Switch them out already. If like me, you’d like to get your hands on unexpired St. Tropez, might I suggest you check out the Carrefour-facing Avenues branch of Boots (here).
Secret Fresh Collection Clear Gel Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant retail for KD 2/990
These seemed to be new. They’re neither Bars nor Roll-Ons or even Sprays, which is the norm. These were Gel Deodorants. The last Gel Deodorant that I’d tried was Soap & Glory One Pit Wonder (here) and it was a total fail. However, that was years ago and I was willing to revisit this whole gel thing. Also, the scents sounded ah-mah-zing!
Secret Classic Cocoa Butter Fresh Collection Clear Gel Antiperspirant and Deodorant
Secret Tango Passion Fresh Collection Clear Gel Antiperspirant and Deodorant
Secret Hawaii Citrus Fresh Collection Clear Gel Antiperspirant and Deodorant
Lux Magical Beauty Perfumed Hand Wash
I’ve actually purchased a handful of Lux Perfumed Hand Wash (when I was on strike against Bath & Body Works and trying to find alternative Hand Soap lol) and the scent Magical Beauty was one of the ones that stood out to me. I only purchased it because I’ve learned that anything with Orchids depicted on the packaging has the potential to smell gorgeous!
Lux Magical Beauty Perfumed Hand Wash
It’s nice to see that they had a deal on them. I didn’t get any though, because I’m kinda’ stocked up for a good long while (I actually have one of these and another scent – also from the same range – placed in every single bathroom in our entire house)!
Lux Magical Beauty Perfumed Hand Wash
The scent of Magical Beauty which consists of Black Orchids & Juniper Oil is lovely! I highly, highly recommend! Plus, the packaging just looks pretty (kinda’ reminds me of the packaging on Bath & Body Works Dark Kiss)! However, in comparison to Bath and Body Works whose Hand Soaps come in 236ml and retail for KD 3/000, these Lux Hand Soaps come in 250ml and retail for only KD 0/700. You can literally buy 4 of the Lux Hand Soap for the price of 1 of the Bath & Body Works Hand Soap! Just sayin’
Lux Tempting Whisper Perfumed Hand Wash
Even Tempting Whisper which consisted of Peony & Ylang Ylang Oil smelled pretty good! Honestly, I’ve always liked Lux Soap (here and here), but the Fine Fragrance Perfumed Hand Wash range from Lux was pretty impressive!
Lux Tempting Whisper Perfumed Hand Wash
This huge thing of 500ml Hand Wash only cost KD 1/100. So if you factor in the Magical Beauty 2-pack (+ 20% off) instead of paying KD 2/200 you end up only paying KD 1/780 for x2 500ml bottles of gorgeously scented and beautifully packaged Lux Liquid Hand Soap! Next time you spot Magical Beauty, give it a sniff. You might just fall in love!
Lux Plush Fine Fragrance Hand Wash Mousse
Not gonna’ lie, I was tempted to pick up at least one from the new Plush Collection, but like I said, I’m fully stocked up for the time being. As such, I didn’t give any of these newer ones a sniff.
Lux Bergamot & Green Tea Sparkling Scent Plush Perfumed Hand Wash Mousse
Between the Bergamot and Green Tea, the Sparkling Scent sounded right up my alley!
Lux Turkish Rose & Sparkling Amber Opulent Scent Plush Perfumed Hand Wash Mousse
I was wary of Opulent Scent purely based on the name lol Also, it included Turkish Rose & Sparkling Amber, but I’ve learned that not all rose scents have the delightful clean and powder-y scent and some can actually be awful.
Lux Snow Peonies & French Vanilla Pampering Scent Plush Perfumed Hand Wash Mousse
Heyooo! Snow Peonies and French Vanilla! Again, the Pampering Scent could go either way because not all vanilla scents are nice (case in point, B&BW Boardwalk Vanilla Cone Hand Soap).
Le Petit Marseillais
There were also some new bath & shower stuff including Extra Gentle Shower Cream (probably going to leave behind some sort of “hydrating” residue so… pass) by the brand Le Petit Marseillais, which I swear I’ve seen before, but for the life of me, I just can’t place it. I wanna’ say Drugstore.com but I’m not too sure.
Le Petit Marseillais Milk Extra Gentle Shower Cream
Le Petit Marseillais Vanilla Milk Extra Gentle Shower Cream
Le Petit Marseillais Sweet Almond Milk Extra Gentle Shower Cream
Le Petit Marseillais Lavender Honey Extra Gentle Shower Cream
Le Petit Marseillais Raspberry & Peony Extra Gentle Shower Cream
Le Petit Marseillais White Peach & Nectarine Extra Gentle Shower Cream
St. Ives Coconut & Orchid Softening Body Wash
St. Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter Softening Body Wash
My favorite Body Moisturizer of life is by St. Ives (here) so I thought it was pretty cool that we finally got their Body Wash in li’l ol’ Kuwait. That said, I feel like they get these pretty regularly at the Salmiya branch… maybe.
There was also a bunch of new (to Kuwait) and interesting (to me) products, at the Skincare Aisle (facing the Al Rifai Roastery), including the Garnier Botanical range and Nivea Urban Skin range and Johnson’s Rose Water range.
The world is obsessed with Micellar Water… blech.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water in Oil
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
Even my beloved Garnier hasn’t been spared. That said, I haven’t seen the Water in Oil one before. Despite myself, I was somewhat intrigued.
Garnier Purifying Botanical Wash (with Green Tea Leaves)
Garnier Nourishing Botanical Wash (with Honey Flower)
Garnier Refreshing Botanical Wash (with Organic Aloe Extract)
These were definitely new and actually looked pretty cute! I kinda’ wanted all 3 lol
Garnier Hydrate + refresh with Organic Aloe Extract Botanical Day Cream
Garnier Hydrate + mattify with Green Tea Leaves Botanical Day Cream
Garnier Hydrate + nourish with Honey Flower Botanical Day Cream
lol The Botanical Day Creams cost less than the Botanical Wash (above it).
Garnier Hydra Bomb Eye Tissue Mask
Oooh! The -4°C (24.8°F) cooling effect sounded pretty cool (heehee)! Obviously, I had to try at least one of these. My girls grabbed one each as well (we were all coo’ing excitedly at the prospect of the “cooling effect”)!
Nivea Urban Skin Detox Night Gel Cream
Honestly, the packaging looked pretty cool (kinda’ like something from Urban Decay)! Plus, doesn’t it just sound cool? Urban Detox! Oh, hold on. Maybe Nivea really was inspired by Urban Decay lol y’know on account of the name, yes? no? maybe?
Nivea Urban Skin Defense Day Cream SPF20
Less cool packaging, but more practical. Also, boasts a +48H Moisture Boost.
Nivea Pore Refining 1 Minute Urban Detox Mask (Self-Heating Formula & Magnolia Extract)
Nivea +Purify 1 Minute Urban Detox Mask (White Clay & Magnolia Extract)
More Masks! Yaaaay! Also, one of them is self-heating and pore-refining (fun and practical)!
L’Oreal Pure Clay Masks
Lemon Extract – Lightens Skin Tone
Marine Algae – Clears Blackheads, Shrinks Pores
Charcoal – Detoxifies, Clarifies
Eucalyptus – Purifies, Matifies
Red Algae – Exfoliates, Brightens
The L’Oreal Clay Masks have been out for a minute now, but I just haven’t been tempted to try any of them out for some reason. They even sell these at Boots.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Collection
I picked up a few Sheet Masks from this display earlier (here).
Johnson’s Rose Water Collection
Ooh! Rose Water! As interested as I was in the products (or rather, their scent), I didn’t purchase anything from this collection because I do not support Dalal Doub. At the beginning, I thought it was pretty cool that Arabs and even Kuwaities were doing the whole “YouTube Beauty” thing, especially since it takes guts! Even I’m too afraid to show my face (for a number of reasons). However, I slowly fell out of love with each and every one of those girls in turn, from Huda Kattan who ripped off Beauty Bakery to Dalal Doub whom I stopped supporting when she flat out lied about the Benefit They’re Real! Gel Eyeliner Pen (she raved about it despite the fact that the product obviously sucked… I didn’t even have to buy it to know that it sucked, you could just tell it was bad) several years ago. The only one out of this region that I fully support and love is Ascia Al-Faraj (such an endearing human)!
Pearl Royal Coconut Water
I’ve seen these a lot in every Sultan Center in the country. Now, they’ve got a whole display of the stuff. For whatever reason, I decided to take some pics of a handful of other brands of Coconut Water, below.
Pearl Royal Coconut Water
The packaging is quite cute! However, I’ve already found my favorite (Coco Mojo).
King Island Thai Coconut Water
OKF Coconut Drink
Coco Mojo Pure Coconut Water
My favorite! This was to be the first and last time I ever spotted this stuff at the Souq Sharq branch lol After this, I had to resort to going to the so-far-out-of-my-way Salmiya branch, which I didn’t mind because this stuff is totally worth it!
Moving on from Coconut Water, we come to… Salmon. I spotted a few the last time I picked up some Caviar (here). This time, I was craving some Salmon. Honestly, I’d probably eat anything that resides in the sea. My long-time favorite is BBQ Unagi, but Smoked Salmon is another forever favorite!
Ubago Gourmet Salmon Gravada Lax
Salmontini Smoked Salmon
Salmontini Beetroot & Orange Smoked Salmon
Fsh Atlantic Smoked Salmon
Sultan Smoked Norwegian Salmon
Americana Gourmet Smoked Beef Strips
Smoked Salmon… Smoked Beef… Smoked Cashews, I’m down for anything smoked!
Also in the refrigerated section, I spotted these Cake Rolls. The Americana ones are pretty old-school (mom used to get them for us as kids) so these are definitely a throw-back!
I haven’t tried these out before though
Nesquik Chocolate Syrup
I had some Hot Chocolate somewhere recently and I’ve been obsessed with the stuff ever since. However, it bugs me so much when the milk forms a layer of skin. So I’ve started drinking it cold. Either way, hot or cold, the chocolate always ends up separating from the milk, needing to be stirred again to mix them together. That said, I’ve been using the powder, not the syrup.
Epicure Madagascan Vanilla
Back during my very, very short stint with “cooking”, something like this would’ve come in pretty handy! I kinda’ wanted to pick it up anyway (just because it looked cute), but I refrained from doing so.
Chips Ahoy! Cookies
I’m kinda’ over them but I’d still recommend the Brownie Filled ones, out of all of ’em.
I know of Milka (here) and I know of Oreos, but a Milka Oreo mashup? Color me intrigued!
Oreo Rocky Road
I love it when Sultan Center brings over stuff like this! Not Rocky Road per say (too rich for my taste), but just Limited Edition stuff that we wouldn’t get a chance to try out otherwise!
Oreo Strawberry Shortcake
Not a Strawberry Shortcake fan either, but this was just too cute! I had to grab one!
Aero Delightful Peppermint
More interesting mashups! I’m thinking maybe it’s cuz of Halloween?
Ritter Sport Chocolate
Love this stuff! My absolute fave is the Strawberry Yogurt, but the Honey Salt Almonds (here) are pretty good too! They are a bit price-y, but these things are huge and the taste is well worth it, especially if you get these as an every once-in-awhile treat!
Ritter Sport Choco Cubes
As I said, the Strawberry Yogurt is my favorite, so sometimes I’ll go for the Yogurt Cubes (here) which has an assortment of yogurt flavors, but they’ve also got a Choco Cube with an assortment of caramel-y and hazelnut-y and whatnot flavors (top row).
Crunch ‘n Munch Caramel Popcorn with Peanuts
Werther’s Original Classic Caramel Caramel Popcorn
Uh… yum! Crunch ‘n Munch (here and here) is just insanely good! Also, I’ve tried Werther’s (honestly it’s so old-school that who hasn’t tried them at this point?), but never in the form of Caramel Popcorn lol
My current favorite go-to “meal” (and yes, I am a fully grown adult)!
I thought these were pretty convenient considering my issue with cereal balls that liked to roll away (here) lol
Hello Kitty ♥
Haribo Happy Cola
Awwww Such a cute display! I love me some gummies! That said, I was a bit disappointed that my beloved Haribo Worms didn’t make the cut. As the next best thing, I grabbed a huge thing of Haribo GoldBears! I wish they’d make this Haribo display permanent! Oh and add Haribo Worms to it!
Darrell Lea Milk Chocolate Licorice Bullets
Darrell Lea Dark Chocolate Licorice Bullets
Darrell Lea Milk Chocolate Raspberry Bullets
At the check-out counter, I spotted these… Honestly, there is no power in this Earth that could convince me to put Licorice in my mouth (I think Licorice is vile). That said, one of my friends (she’s half American and she was the one that introduced me to Beef Jerky when we were very very little, when she brought some over from the States and for that I’ll be forever grateful lol) loves this stuff, so I pointed these out to her and she grabbed the ones in the middle. I would’ve totally bought them for her, but we’ve been through this before (only Kuwaities are okay with doing the whole “I’m paying for you” thing, but it’s not a thing with people who are from other nationalities or even half-kuwaity, basically, they’re not into it lol).
Hershey’s Dipped Snyder’s Pretzels
Also at the cash register, I spotted Hershey’s Dipped Snyder’s Pretzels which seemed like yet another random pairing. Hershey’s make chocolate and Snyder’s make pretzels (and also the Chunky Salsa that I keep repurchasing). I know the two separately… but together? Curiosity piqued, I grabbed the last 3 and quickly tossed them in with the rest of my stuff that was already in the process of being checked out. The other stuff… for stuff, are unrelated to this haul… and stuff… y’know?
