H&M Haul Part 2 of 3

First chance I got, I went back to exchange the White V-Neck Frilled Blouse (purchased earlier, here) for a smaller size. While there, I spotted a few more pieces and decided to try them on (spur of the moment thing) and ended up with a few duds. I had to go back (twice) to get them hemmed and everything. Even more annoying was the fact that literally after this haul, I got one of those mass texts from H&M announcing they had Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) promo going on and a week after that there was a 70% off Sale -_-

White V-Neck Frilled Blouse retails for KD 9/990

V-neck blouse in airy crêpe. Yoke with a double layer of fabric at the back, frills down the sleeves, buttons at the cuffs and slits in the sides. 100% Polyester

I purchased the White Blouse earlier (here), to pair with my Striped Cream Palazzo Pants from American Eagle (here) and tried them on together (back home), only to realize that the UK14 was blatantly too loose (i.e. unwearable). I decided I would just exchange it for something else, but once I got there, one of the wonderful sales assistants at H&M found the exact same top in a UK10 for me! It was still a bit loose, but in a much more flattering way! I really liked the way it hung from my shoulders! Also, I believed the frilly sleeves would pair so well with the Zara Black Waistcoat (here), possibly with some Black Tuxedo Pants! So that was that.

White Blouse with Eyelet Embroidery retails for KD 9/990

Blouse in airy, woven viscose fabric with eyelet embroidery. Smocked stand-up collar, opening at back of neck with covered buttons, and long sleeves with smocking at cuffs. Available in Burgundy and Black and White. Gently rounded hem. 100% Viscose

Next, I picked up this White Blouse with Eyelet Embroidery in a UK6. Again, I do Shirts and I do T-Shirts, but I don’t do this. Also, generally I tend to avoid lighter tops, especially White. However, I was still looking for another potential pairing for my American Eagle Cream Palazzo Pants (here). Who knew “cream” would be so hard to match? I saw the White Eyelet Embroidery Blouse hanging on one of the racks and immediately thought, “blech”. However, I decided to try it on anyway, and as soon as I did, fell instantly in love! Just goes to show, you shouldn’t dismiss certain pieces before at least trying them on. Case in point, this top, which looked very “Little House on the Praire“, but once I tried it on, actually looked pretty sweet!

As expected, it was also pretty see-through, but whatevs. I’ll just wear a matching Vest or Cami underneath. I feel like this particular White Blouse would look pretty cute paired with an A-line Skirt or equally cute with Trousers or even my Topshop Jamie Jeans (here). I purchased it in White, but the pictures seemed like they’d be hard to see (properly), so figured I’d include the other colors too. Again, I wish I could link you guys to this particular item on the local H&M website (but unfortunately the local H&M website is a mess), because out of everything in this entire haul, you need to get the Blouse! It’s actually quite flattering once you try it on! Plus, you get your pick from White (sweet) or Black (cool) or Burgundy (seasonally appropriate), or all three!

Black Mini Flare High Waist Jeans retail for KD 7/990

CONSCIOUS. 5-pocket, slim-fit jeans in stretch denim. High waist and zip fly with button, and flared legs. Made partly from organic cotton. Available in Black and Denim Blue and Dark Denim Blue. 77% Cotton; 22% Polyester; 1% Elastane

My obsession with Palazzo Pants and Wide-Leg Pants and such, had been rekindled recently. So as soon as I read the word “Flare”, I grabbed these Mini Flare Jeans in Black and Dark Denim in a Size 28/32 to try on. Despite the fact that I chose to try them on in darker colors, they looked as unflattering on me as they did on the model (they emphasized my thighs in a completely unflattering way). Also, they were extra long on me. Somehow, I still bought them. I actually wore the Black Mini Flare Jeans out and about, paired with my Black Wedge Sneakers and hated how they looked!

So once again, I returned to H&M with both Mini Flare Jeans in tow, climbed the stairs (in the middle of the store), roamed aimlessly around the Men’s section up until I finally found a sales assistant and asked to see the Tailor (who wasn’t there because her shift was from 11:30am – 8:00pm and I’d shown up at 11:00pm lol). I came back at a later time and had both Mini Flare Jeans hemmed to a more practical length (I’m 5’1). The Tailor was a young Indian woman who was super sweet! I had to change into the Mini Flare Jeans (in the Changing Rooms designated for the Men), so she could insert the pins at the height I wanted both Mini Flare Jeans to be shortened to, but I couldn’t quite decide on the length. I wanted them to be short enough to wear with Flats (without dragging on the floor), but also long enough enough to wear with Heels (without looking awkwardly short). Basically, I was asking a lot and yet, she delivered! She even ran after me to give me back my Handbag (which I’d forgotten in the Changing Room), even though she was pregnant (we had a pretty long conversation while she obtained my proper measurements, that started when she asked me where I was from and I answered, to which she replied, “You don’t look Kuwaity”. My racially ambiguous sallow skin tone strikes again. lol)

In any case, the Mini Flare Jeans were ready to be picked up, just a few hours later (exact same day)! I think it cost KD 0/500 per article of clothing that needed alterations, but I’m not sure. I sent our live-in chauffeur/driver with the receipt, to go pick it up for me, because I didn’t feel like getting my passport and traveling all the way back, to the Avenues… again.

Side note – The H&M Changing Rooms for Men (top floor) were absolutely horrible! The doors kept jamming and refused to budge from the inside, so someone on the outside (The cute Nepalese sales assistant manning the Men’s Changing Rooms) had to save us (I say us, because it happened to each and every single person that entered any one of those Changing Rooms in the Men’s section). It happened to me and a trio of giggling Filipino guys, simultaneously, which set all of us (including both staff members) into hysterical laughter (you had to be there)! I saw it happen to an Eastern European looking dude (I’m pretty sure those guys are incapable of smiling), who took it all in stride and was quite polite about it. I also saw it happen to a Kuwaity dude who was not happy about it and was not as polite. H&M, y’all need to fix your Changing Rooms (top floor, Men’s section, right outside the Tailor’s Office) so they don’t keep locking from the outside and people don’t take it out on the completely blameless staff members.

Dark Denim Flare High Waist Jeans retail for KD 7/990

After I got them hemmed at H&M (in-house Tailor), I liked them marginally better. However, something about them still seemed “off” on my 5’1 frame. Maybe it’s because they were High Waist? I dunno’… In any case, they looked pretty cool with Flats, but less so with Heels or even Wedge Sneakers. All in all, I do not recommend them… well, unless you’re on the taller side (5’8 and above), in which case, they might possibly be more flattering on you. If you’re short (like me), then definitely skip these!

Dark Denim Blue Rugged Rinse Shaping Skinny Jeans reduced from KD 16/990 to KD 5/000

PREMIUM QUALITY. Shaping. 5-pocket jeans in washed denim with technical stretch to hold and shape the tummy, thighs, and seat, while jeans retain their shape. Regular waist, zip fly and button, and skinny legs. Available in Black and Dark Blue and Denim Blue and Dark Denim Blue Rugged Rinse and Khaki Green and Coral and Grey and White. 90% Cotton; 7% Elastomultiester; 3% Elastane

I was kinda’ over Skinny Jeans, but since these had been reduced to KD5/000 from KD 16/990 I figured what the hey, why not? So I picked them up in Size 28. I’ve actually purchased the exact same pair (along with several Sweatpants in Burgundy and Black and Grey and a matching Black Sweatshirt and the coolest Grey Asymmetrical Knit Sweater and some Black/White Baseball Shirts, all in the same haul, but never got around to blogging about them), purchased almost a year ago (October 2017). Other than being slightly too loose in the waist (my upper arms and thighs are where my body likes to store fat), they’re actually pretty nice! I wore the one I got earlier in this “Lookbook” (here). They’re the easiest thing to wear, because you can pair them with practically everything! Also, they pair well with both Heels and Flats (so… basically, like every other pair of Jeans in the world lol). Also, they wash pretty well (just don’t toss them in the dryer afterwards, otherwise they’ll lose their elasticity). That said, I only repurchased them because they were reduced from KD16/990 to KD5/000.

Red V-Neck Jersey Top retails for KD 3/990

Short-sleeved, V-neck top in soft slub jersey with a seam at center back. Rounded hem, longer at back. Available in Black and Dark Grey and White and Red. 50% Polyester; 38% Cotton; 12% Viscose

Wow! This was the coolest Top I’ve ever seen… in my entire life! I absolutely love asymmetrical and high-low anything and everything! Now add to that, the fact that this baby was a beautiful, beautiful Red! I believe I own a similar pair in Dark Grey (also from H&M lol) except that was in a Large (way before I slimmed down). Normally, I’d wear an X-Large except this particular style was a bit over-sized. I used to rock that thing on vacation (I wanna’ say 2015), paired with Grey Sneakers and Denim Shorts and my New Look Black Box Backpack. No joke, I’d be minding my own business walking on the beach or attempting to ride a bicycle – the kind where you just text a certain number or something (not sure how it went down because the guys dealt with all that) and it releases the bicycle for you you to ride and when you were done, you could just pop it back in to any other bike rack from the same company (any location in the entire country) – and these women (no less than three women, separately) would stop me, to ask about my H&M Dark Grey High-Low Top!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t pair it with Shorts in Kuwait, I mean I could, but I won’t because… Kuwait. Anyways, since I couldn’t wear it anymore (after I’d slimmed down considerably), I kinda’ forgot all about it, up until I saw this gorgeous Red version! I didn’t know what I was going to pair it with and I didn’t care! I just had to have it! Even just looking at it now, the Red High-Low Top makes me deliriously happy (issues…) lol I feel like it could be dressed down with Leggings and Sneakers for a quarter of a lap at Shaheed Park (more often than not, I’d plop down at Three & Barista, order a milkshake lol completely negating the whole point of our “walk”, and absolutely refuse to move, telling my friends to go ahead without me. I’m just not an “athletic” person, ok?) or it could be slightly dressed up in Liquid-Look Leather Leggings (not that I even own a pair for my current weight lol and even if I did, I or rather, my thighs just can’t pull them off) or more realistically, I could pair it with Skinny Jeans and a pair of slinky Heels. I tried it on in a Small and X-Small, but like I said, these were a bit over-sized, so I ended up purchasing the X-Small. The fact that it was a High-Low Top was so cool, but the fact that it was a bright Red, made it even cooler (in my eyes)!

Dark Yellow T-Shirt retails for KD 1/990

T-shirt in soft, viscose-blend jersey. Available in Black and White and Dark Yellow and Bright Blue and Vintage Pink (lovers unite) and Khaki Green (heart) and Red Striped and Green Striped and Natural White Striped. 60% Cotton; 40% Viscose

Also in that same corner, I spotted a bunch of these KD 1/990 basic T-Shirts in several colors. I kinda’ wanted to try on the Dark Yellow because it seemed… ugly, but hear me out! Just like those ugly eyeshadow shades (puke-y greens and mustard-y yellows), once you pair them with other shades, they just transform into something much, much prettier (logic)! However, I wasn’t that invested in the idea. As such, I wasn’t planning on getting any of the T-Shirts, but once I grabbed the Black/Yellow Stripe Leggings from the table right next to the T-Shirts, I figured I’d try them on, paired together. I tried the Dark Yellow T-Shirt on in both a Size Small and X-Small, couldn’t decide which one to get and ended up purchasing both (they were only KD 1/990 each). I feel like the Dark Yellow T-Shirt would come in pretty handy for some Color-Blocking! It’d definitely go well with some Dark Brown Suede Trousers (don’t have) or possibly an over-sized Teddy Coat (don’t have lol) or a matching Mustard Yellow Cross-Body Micro Bag (also don’t have lol) and so on, not to mention the more common pairing of Denim Jeans (as shown on the model). I like picking up these “basics” from H&M because they’re so inexpensive and pair well with a lot of other stuff (ergo “basics” lol)!

Black/Yellow Stripe Leggings retail for KD 3/900

Leggings in extra-thick jersey with an elasticized waistband. Available in Black and Black/White Stripes and Black/Red Stripes and Black/Yellow Stripes. 95% Cotton; 5% Elastane

Side-Stripes on Leggings and Pants/Trousers and Jeans have been trending hardcore for a minute now. I first spotted them at Bershka (Marina Mall) around October 2017 (literally almost almost a year ago). Then I saw them at Zara and slowly but surely they started trickling into all the other stores in the country and now they’re everywhere! With that said, Side-Stripes are nothing new, as I remember them being a “thing” back when I was 13-14 years old and almost everyone had a pair of those Adidas Black/White Striped Button-Up Track Pants (that had white stripes on each side and unbuttoned all the way to the top, also on each side). I tried a few pairs of Side-Stripe Jeans over at Zara, but I guess I’ve gotta come to terms with the fact that Zara (in Kuwait) just do not cater to shorter people (I’m 5’1), because every pair of Jeans, Leggings, Pants/Trousers, etc… that I’ve tried on in any of the local Zara stores has always looked “off” on me somehow. Since I didn’t love the way they looked on me, obviously I didn’t purchase any of them.

However, when I spotted these Side-Stripe Leggings over at H&M, my interested was piqued… again, so I grabbed them in a Black with Yellow Side-Stripes and a Black with Red Side-Stripes to try on. I tried them on in a Size Small and X-Small but the latter resulted in… I dunno’ how else to phrase it so I’ll just come right out and say it, camel-toe lol So I ended up purchasing both of them in a Size Small instead. I liked the way the Black/Yellow Leggings looked when paired with the Dark Yellow T-Shirt. Not that I actually work out (because… eww, working out), but I feel like when my friends work out and I’m unnecessarily invited and forced into participating (they do it out of love, I guess), this would make a passable “working out” outfit. Plus, I just like the combo of Black and Yellow (I think it looks cool)!

Black/Red Stripe Leggings retail for KD 3/900

Leggings in extra-thick jersey with an elasticized waistband. Available in Black and Black/White Stripes and Black/Red Stripes and Black/Yellow Stripes. 95% Cotton; 5% Elastane

I really love the combination of Black and Red (heck, I love Black-on-Black, Black-on-Gold, Multicolor Print-on-Black Background, etc…) so when I saw these Black with Red Side Stripes Leggings, I snatched them up right away. Unlike the Black/Yellow Leggings, I feel like the Black/Red Leggings would pair well with everything, but I tried them on with the Red High-Low Top (seriously love that thing) and the combination was fiyah! I wasn’t planning on picking up Side-Stripe anything, but I’m happy that I now have two. Best of all, they only cost a little under KD 4/000!

Dark Grey Sport Shorts retail for KD 3/990

CONSCIOUS. Sports shorts in fast-drying, functional fabric. Elasticized drawstring waistband with mesh key pocket. Short slits at hems. Polyester content is partly recycled. Available in Powder Beige and Dark Grey and Dark Purple and Neon Pink. 100% Polyester

From the teen, tiny section of “Fitness/Active/Sportswear” (as in walk too fast and you miss it) over at the “Largest H&M Store in the World“, there were several Sport Shorts and Sport Leggings and matching Hooded Running Jackets and Sport Tank Tops (obscenely priced and only available in random colors and sizes, because apparently, everything had already sold out and these were the left-overs). I tried the Sport Shorts on in several colors and loved them all! The Dark Purple was especially gorgeous and I was planning on picking it up along with the matching Dark Purple Hooded Running Jacket (with the stupid thumb holes). Sadly, most of the sizes were sold out and I could only find these Sport Shorts in the sizes Medium and X-Large. On one hand, they looked blatantly too big on me, but on the other hand, I just couldn’t walk away from them. So I purchased the Dark Grey Sport Shorts in a Size Medium (minus the Jacket)… as a happy medium lol Other than wearing it when I’m not working out (lol), I feel like I could wear it over my Swimsuit (when I go swimming in some of the more public places in our conservative little country and wearing a Bikini just isn’t feasible), or just around the house, or even just to sleep in. Best of all, I love the fact that it has Pockets! Unlike everything else in the Sports Section, these were a reasonable KD 3/990.

White Miami Vice T-Shirt retails for KD 3/990

T-shirt in soft cotton jersey with a printed design at front. 100% Cotton

So. Much. Yes. I couldn’t help but laugh (in absolute delight) when I spotted the White Miami Vice T-Shirt! I mean, between my post featuring Ocean Drive by Miami Nights 1984 (here) and my post featuring Crockett’s Theme from the actual show Miami Vice (here), the White Miami Vice T-Shirt felt deliciously appropriate totally righteous! On one hand, this haul had way too much White going on for my taste. On the other hand, the fact that this T-Shirt was White, made it seem more 80’s (at least to me)! As someone born in the 80’s (December 18, 1984), I gotta’ represent! I tried it on and purchased it in an X-Small, so it’s pretty much true-to-size. I kinda’ wanted to buy a back-up, but it occurred to me that this wasn’t makeup and normal people don’t do that… well, not to my knowledge at least. The White Miami Vice T-Shirt is so boss! ^_~
