As you can see, it clearly states “Buy 2 Get 2 Free” and also “Mix & Match“. However, just to be 100% sure, I asked the nearest SA and she also confirmed that I could in fact mix & match (each item could be from a different brand and I’d still qualify for the Buy 2 Get 2 promo), store-wide. I knew Kuwait all too well, so I was skeptical (because it sounded too good to be true). However, I went along with it and filled up my shopping basket anyway. I wasn’t that interested in anything (bad mood) up until I spotted the St. Tropez display, which showcased all kinds of new products from the brand!
I mean… they had the Gradual Tan 1 Minute Everyday Pre-Shower Tanning Mousse (which you’re supposed to wash off after literally just 1 minute!) and the Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Mousse (Bronzing Water! I die!) and the one in the gorgeous oil-slick packaging is the Self Tan Extra Dark Bronzing Mousse. They also had the rest of the St. Tropez range (about 3 rows of the stuff) including the Bronzing Lotions and Facial Oils and even the Tan Applicator Mitts!
Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse (classic is the old-school one) – Self Tan Extra Dark Bronzing Mousse (is the darkest one of all) – Self Tan Dark Bronzing Mousse (is a bit darker than the classic)
Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse – Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Mousse – Self Tan Express Bronzing Mist
I needed to get the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt so I could use it to apply the St. Tropez Self Tan Express Advanced Bronzing Mousse (haulage here). However, the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt only cost KD 4 whereas all the other St. Tropez products were above the KD 20 mark. Also, I really had my heart set on the St. Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Mousse (so cool!) and the Self Tan Extra Dark Bronzing Mousse (because I wanted to see how dark was “extra dark”). I figured I could pick up those 2 and then get the other 2 “free” products from another brand (because who gets 100 self-tanners at once? I might be crazy but I’m not that crazy, y’know?) and just pick up the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt in a separate purchase (separate receipt and everything). Still skeptical, I asked one of the Sales Assistants that was hovering over me if it was possible to combine stuff from different brands (mix & match) as clearly stated on the sign. Surprise, surprise! She informed me that the mix & match aspect of the promo did not actually to apply to St. Tropez products (meaning all 4 products had to be from St. Tropez) -_-
Instead, I picked up the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt (which I actually needed) and the Isadora Cover Up Long-Wear Cushion Concealer in the shade Almond (because… cushion) and the GOSH Volume Serum Mascara (Comb. Mascara. ’nuff said) in the shade 001 Black (despite what the receipt says) and the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara (pretty sure I’ve purchased this before but I can’t seem to find it also, I needed a 4th item to qualify for the Buy 2 Get 2 Free promo).
I get to the cash register and they’re like “Cosmetics are not part of the Buy 2 Get 2 Free promo, but there’s currently a 25% discount on all cosmetic items”. Had I not been so intrigued by the Gosh Volume Serum Mascara (Comb Mascara, people!) and actually needed the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt (as far as I know, this was the only branch that sold them), I totally would’ve walked out without purchasing a single thing. There was a Buy 2 Get 2 Free (except on Makeup, False Lashes, Hair Care, Tools, Vitamins, some of the more high-end Skincare, etc… so basically, it didn’t apply to almost everything lol) and there was a Mix & Match (except not really, because it didn’t apply to the cutesy Korean Skincare nor St. Tropez and who knows what else). That’s Kuwait for ya’.
