Sephora Summer Haul #2

I received a text message on July 18 that said they were giving out a free gift to anyone who spent KD 24 on the Sephora Collection which was my main incentive for going back to Sephora. However, I also wanted to pick up my Brand Gift which was between either a Becca trio or GlamGlow trio (as shown on the left and also on display all the way at the bottom of this post, here) both of which were equally awesome! I’d actually qualified for the Brand Gift by accumulating the 200 points (exactly KD 0/800 per point) earlier, on June 5 (haulage here) but on June 6 (when I went back to exchange something, here) was told I had to wait for a certain e-mail. As you can tell from the photo (on the left), eventually I received the e-mail with the Gift Voucher on June 18 (only 2 days after I e-mailed them, which was very professional of Sephora UAE and so unlike Sephora Kuwait) which meant I should’ve been able to claim my Brand Gift. Unfortunately, that was not the case. On July 20, I went to Sephora again to pick up my Brand Gift and tried to discreetly take a few photos for my Spotted at Sephora post (here) and even purchased a few of the items, to qualify for the Sephora gift with purchase as mentioned in the text they sent out to everyone. However, at the cash register, I was told that both Brand Gifts were out of stock but they would contact me once they were back in stock… if I just gave them my name and phone number. The guy at the check-out counter proceeded to pull out a rather large book already full of pages and pages of names and numbers of other people on the “waiting list” for the Brand Gift . We’ve been through this before with MAC, guys. Doing it old-school just doesn’t work, at least not in Kuwait. C’mon now, y’all are Sephora. Surely you guys have a more efficient way of doing this LOL Like I said at the start of this post, I went back to Sephora on July 20, meaning they’ve had my name and number for a little over a month now and still haven’t contacted me. Heck, I’m not sure if they even added the points I accumulated from this haul. In any case, everything I purchased in this haul, was featured in my Spotted at Sephora (Summer) post (here).

Now on to the stuff I actually bought…

Starskin Coco-Nuts Nourishing Hot Oil Hair Mask retails for KD 4/000
Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Moist Mist retails for KD 3/750
Tony Moly Delight Dalcom Banana PongDang Lip Balm retails for KD 2/500
Sephora Orange Color Adapt Lip Balm retails for KD 6/750
Sephora Face Shimmering Powder retails for KD 7/000
Sephora Wonderful Cushion Natural Glow Face Luminizer retails for KD 6/750
Sephora Intensive Instant Moisture+ Cream retails for KD 8/000

Starskin Coco-Nuts Nourishing Hot Oil Hair Mask retails for KD 4/000

The ULTIMATE Hot Oil Pre-Shampoo Hair Mask with Mother Nature’s BEST HAIR SUPERFOODS and time-tested Ayurvedic Herbology! Virgin Coconut Oil is is SCIENTIFICALLY-PROVEN (by Princeton University) as the ONLY Natural Oil that can fully penetrate the hair shaft to repair and strengthen FROM INSIDE OUT. Preheat, apply to to hair and use heat-retaining cap for MAXIMUM ingredient absorption. Your hair will look and feel softer, stronger and more voluminous, and it will shine like never before!

This stuff might look familiar to you because it was featured as part of the Mini Mania (Sunny Beach) display (as seen at the top of this post, here). Apparently, this stuff is listed as a “Korean Top Invention” consisting of leading ingredients (whatever that means) that are also cruelty-free and vegan. Normally, I tend to take these claims (from any brand) with a pinch of salt, because it’s so obvious that they’re not only exaggerating, but clearly making stuff up (I’m looking at you Bath & Body Works with your “essence of cotton candy” lawl). However, when a Korean brand or Japanese brand make a claim, I believe it! Rest-assured that they’re not just trying to make a quick buck by pulling a fast one over you (take note, Arabs). Starflower Seed Oil and Baobab Seed Oil and Sea Buckthorne Fruit Oil and Sacha Inchi Seed Oil are all listed on the front of the packaging. When it comes to Korean or Japanese products, I have the utmost confidence that the proper research went into creating whatever it is they’ve created.

I still have PTSD from when my mom would torture me as a child with Dabur Amla Hair Oil (which was the stinkiest, messiest and all-around worst) which consequentially led to me despising all forms of Hair Oil as a result. However, as a teen I discovered those Pantene Pro V Ampoules (the kind that you heat up, break open and pour on your hair) and warmed up (literally, lawl) to the idea of Hair Oils. Everyone noticed a difference in my hair (I personally can never notice) so I knew for a fact that those things worked! Recently, my hair – just like my skin – has become insanely dry! That’s why I picked up this Starskin Coco-Nuts Nourishing Hot Oil Hair Mask to hopefully repair my hair. As you can see, this stuff comes with a sachet of Hot Oil meant to be microwaved (unnecessary in Kuwait, where you can achieve microwave-level heat naturally lawl) and a heat-retaining Hair Cap meant to be worn over your hair after you apply the Hot Oil (in case you wanna’ sleep with this stuff on) for full max ingredient absorption and a tiny instructions manual. I’m sooo excited to try this stuff out!

Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Moist Mist retails for KD 3/750

Enjoy an instant spritz of Hydrating Face Mist made with mineral-rich Celtic Water from Vosges du Nord, France. This Mist is enriched with nutrients that are skin-balancing and leave your face feeling refreshed and awake. The Sleek Mist is Oil Controlling and keeps face shine free without drying out your skin. The Moist Mist provides long lasting hydration.

As you read from the excerpt, the Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Mist come in Sleek Mist (mattifying) and Moist Mist (hydrating), both of which are formulated with different ingredients, obviously. The Moist Mist is formulated with Strawberry Extract, Raspberry Extract, Blackberry Extract and Baobab Tree Extracts (there’s that word Baobab again, I wonder if it’s abundant in Korea… nope, just googled it and apparently Baobab is a super fruit that we should all be eating). So the Berry Extracts have got antioxidant rich and hydrating properties meant to condition the skin while the Baobab Tree Extracts is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agent that provides long lasting hydration. I dunno’ about all that. I just picked this stuff up from the “aisle of doom” (where they suck you in with all the cuuute travel-sized minis) mainly because it looked cute (I meant look at it! It’s a freakin’ bunny!) and also, because Tony Moly is a Korean brand and I’ve always had a a deeeeep, unequivocal love for Korean and Japanese brands (which stems from my love of Anime and JRPGs)! As an added bonus, it’s got a lightly aromatic peach scent (which normally I can’t stand because ugh! peaches), but this stuff reminds me of being abroad on summer vacation at the beach for some reason… (maybe it’s the Peach Schweppes my friends used to guzzle) and I’m kinda’ into it! You can use the Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Moist Mist (which is literally the size of your palm, if not smaller) to set your makeup or add moisture and glow to your skin!

Tony Moly Delight Dalcom Banana PongDang Lip Balm retails for KD 2/500

Don’t be fooled by the cute packaging! This deliciously scented lip balm takes hydration seriously, providing nutrition and moisture to treat dry and fatigued lips. Adorably pocket-sized, pop it in your purse and protect your lips from dryness whenever and wherever you go!

Also from the “aisle of doom”, I couldn’t resist picking up this Banana Lip Balm because it looked stupid cute! I know, I know, I literally just purchased the Green Apple Lip Balm, but I’m kinda’ on a Banana kick, at the mo’ (I go through these phases… it’s a whole thing…). So this stuff has 1 ppm (whatever that means) of Banana Extract – Potassium and Vitamin A to help hydrate and protect your lips and Milk Protein with nutrient rich properties to help replenish lost moisture and Coconut Oil to moisturize and soften lips and Ceramide 3 which provides time-release moisture. Plus, it comes with a handy little strap, so you can attach it to whatever.

Back in the day, Rimmel came out with a certain Lipgloss with the most perfect consistency of life! It hydrated lips while adding a demi-matte shine yet wasn’t sticky, oily or even greasy at all! I don’t know how to explain it but it was just… perfection! I believe it was called Rimmel Jelly Gloss (and was available in both shimmery and cream finishes, but obviously I avoided the ones with the more shimmery finish). Anyways, that’s what this Banana Lip Balm reminds me of, albeit very vaguely. The consistency is wonderful! As an added bonus, it’s got an absolutely delightful sweet banana scent!

Can you blame me for being obsessed with Korean Makeup and Korean Skincare? Not only are their products innovative and chock-full of all kinds of good stuff, but also mad cute! Again, for more Korean products available at Sephora (Kuwait) including the ones featured in this post, check out my Spotted at Sephora posts (here and here).

The rest are all from the in-house brand (Sephora) so I could reach a total of KD 24 (on Sephora products only) and qualify for the Gift with Purchase.

Sephora Unique Orange Color Adapt Lip Balm retails for KD 6/750

I had my heart set on this baby from the moment I first spotted it! I’m kinda’ obsessed with lip stuff that go on all clear and then change color on your lips (including balms, glosses, lipsticks, etc…). It’s just so… fun! As mentioned earlier (here) it’s available in the shades Unique Pink and Unique Orange. I’m a long-time collector of color-changing, pH-reacting lip stuff, and based on my previous experiences, have conceded that certain “pinks” can go on all clear and change into an extremely loud fuchsia on my lips, which I do not like. That’s why I went with the shade Unique Orange. It’s pretty emollient, but not as emollient as the Dior Addict Lip Glow (haulage here) or Givenchy Rouge Perfector (haulage here). In fact, if anything, I’d say this stuff is comparable to the L’Oreal Color Riche Balm (in the shade, I wanna’ say Rose Elixer… but don’t quote me on that) that went on clear but tinted your lips ever-so-slightly. They both have the same lovely consistency and even share the same yummy marshmallow scent! The only thing I don’t like is the ugly packaging (why so bulky?) which makes it look a bit juvenile for my taste (she says with a straight face despite cooing over the Bunny Moist Mist and Banana Lip Balm). Truth be told, this stuff is a bit over-priced, but it’s worth purchasing at least once. It’s a great way to prep your lips for those insanely drying Liquid Lipsticks (from any brand) or to wear on it’s own as a Tinted Lip Balm and aside from have a pleasantly emollient texture that makes this stuff glide on your lips, it also moisturizes them, all while smelling yummy to boot!

Sephora Delicate Glow Face Shimmering Powder retails for KD 7/000

I’ve gushed about this stuff more than enough already (here) so I don’t believe there’s much else to say. It’s gorgeous! You need it! End of.

The name could’ve been a little more whimsical and a little less on the nose because Face Shimmering Powder doesn’t sound all that exciting to be honest, otherwise you’re golden (literally, lawl)! Oh and also these are supposed to be available in the shades 01 Delicate Glow and 02 Natural Glow but I could only seem to find 01 Delicate Glow. I haven’t opened mine up just yet, opting instead, to pull it out of my makeup drawer and whispering sweet nothings to it before gently placing it back (…issues).

Sephora Wonderful Cushion Natural Glow Face Luminizer retails for KD 6/750

Inspired by the latest makeup innovations in Korea. This luminizer rewrites the rules! A new generation luminizer with a creamy formula applied using a built-in applicator cushion. A pearly champagne-colored base that shimmers and adapt perfectly to all complexions. Illuminates the areas of the face that naturally catches the light to boost the complexion’s radiance!

So. Much. Yes. Despite being from the in-house brand (Sephora) this stuff is actually made in Korea hence the superior quality! In fact, Cushion Makeup actually originated in Asia, but I believe Lancome was the first to introduce Cushion Makeup to the western world (I actually blogged about it 3 years ago, here). Ever since then, Cushion Makeup has been having a moment (a very long moment) in beauty. At first, it was Cushion Foundations, then Cushion Bronzers and Cushion Blushes, and now it’s Cushion anything and everything… which is getting a bit ridiculous. Even more unfortunate is the fact that with the influx of Cushion Makeup, the quality has gone down and a lot of them don’t even perform that well. As for the this stuff, truth be told, the packaging didn’t appeal to me, at all. I only swatched this stuff on a whim, but was absolutely besotted with the seemingly magical champagne-y glow! Ironically (‘cuz Muslims aren’t supposed to get their drank on), I don’t do champagnes, because of my middle-eastern complexion. They make my already sallow complexion look even more strange! However, somehow this stuff just works! I urge you, nay, beseech you to go give it a swatch!

Sephora Intensive Instant Moisture+ Cream retails for KD 8/000

After dead-eyeing this stuff over the course of several trips to Sephora (here and here), I finally came to a decision! Basically, my skin has been doing an uncanny impersonation of the Sahara recently. Thankfully, it’s not flake-y, which I completely attribute to all my mega-harsh Face Scrubs. However, it’s supah dry, which I also totally attribute to all my mega-harsh Face Scrubs lol Maybe it’s the fact that I don’t drink water (like, ever) or don’t get as much sleep (insomniac) or just the fact that I lead an unhealthy life(style?) in general. Whatever the reason may be, my skin is currently paying the price, in full. It didn’t really bother me, up until it started messing up my “Makeup Looks”, especially my highlighted areas. I spend upwards of an hour, carefully drawing on this and that, and meticulously applying this and that, only for the end result to be ruined by… dryness? No sireee, Bob! I tried getting more sleep, but just couldn’t. I tried drinking more water (ugh), and I don’t want to anymore. I tried leading a healthier lifestyle in general, and I’m over it. The next best thing is to slap on a heavy-duty moisturizer. After much research (about all 5 mins), I came across a reasonably priced one from Sephora. Unfortunately, I forgot to take note of the name and didn’t realize I’d be facing no less than 3 Sephora Moisturizers, all with extremely similar names. Caught off-guard, I couldn’t make a commitment decision, so I decided to just come back later.

On my next visit to Sephora, I chose the Intensive Instant Moisture+ Cream (you know they mean bidness when there’s a plus sign involved) and can honestly say that this stuff is… magic! After only ONE USE, my skin has reverted to its normal state! Insofarasmuch that I only use this stuff once a week and reap the benefits, all week! As with all Witchcraft, Black Magic and Voodoo, every spell you cast comes back to you threefold (or something like that) and sadly this stuff is no different. The Sephora Intensive Instant Moisture+ Cream contains Hyaluronic Acid (swear to God, that word always make me think of Zelda, y’know as in Hyrule Castle, just me? ok!) which means that I sorta’ need to stay out of the sun, which is next to impossible, on account of Kuwait being a desert country and all lol That said, this stuff is bomb! Honestly, the flimsy and cheap packaging didn’t inspire all that much confidence, but all that blather on the side of the box is true! After a single application, this stuff is continually moisturizing your skin (Sorcery!) for all of next week (wuuuuuut)! Surprisingly stellar product from Sephora!

Sephora PVC Backpack (free gift with purchase)
Sephora All About Eyes Pouch with 3 samples inside (Gift with Purchase you get for spending KD 24< only on the Sephora Collection)
Perfume Samples (x2 Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming + x2 Guerlain Santal Royal)
Skincare Samples (more Clarins stuff because they seem to have a surplus of those, apparently)

Samples (Perfume + Skincare)

The Samples are usually so random! I feel like they just grab whichever samples happen to be nearest to them at the time. If you’re going to hand out those one-time-use Perfume Sample Cards, at least make it something new or worthwhile… I wouldn’t say no to Light Blue or Flowerbomb or scents in the same vein.

Clarins Super Restorative Remodeling Serum (sample)
Clarins Cleansing Milk With Alpine Herbs (sample)
Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Tamarind and Purifying Micro (sample) x3

A tiny sample of Serum and a bunch of different Makeup Removers ‘aint bad. However, at this point, I feel like I’ve already accumulated a life-time supply of Clarins Samples and not to sound ungrateful, but I’m kinda’ over it. Other brands do exist, know what I’m sayin’?

Dior Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming Perfume Sample (x2)

I spritzed this on my wrist on the way home, not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by the wonderfully fruit-y scent!

Guerlain Santal Royal Perfume Sample (x2)

I tend to enjoy unisex and masculine scents but this stuff was… blech!

Gifts with Purchase (Backpack + Pouch)

I got these two for purchasing KD +24 of Sephora products (as in the actual in-house brand Sephora, not any of the other brands that they sold at Sephora).

Sephora PVC Backpack

I thought this was quite cute, actually! I went on and on about “quirky” and “unique” bags (in my Handbags post, here) and this Sephora Backpack definitely fits the bill! I’m definitely gonna’ wear this thing out and about! For starters, it’s Clear! Also, it’s got Black Stripes! Best of all, it’s a Backpack! Love!

Sephora All About Eyes Pouch (with x3 Eye Products)

This Pouch was pretty cute too! They actually let you choose either an All About Eyes Gift or an All About Lips Gift, each with their own trio of samples. I went with the All About Eyes because the Pouch was cuter, and also because I didn’t wanna’ get stuck with some random Lipstick shade. I could totally use this as a Makeup Bag or more realistically, as something to hold my essentials (Phone, Hair Tie, Face Mist, Skittles, etc…) at the Pool or Beach!

Sephora Cinescope Panoramic Effect Volume Mascara (sample)
Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover (sample)
Sephora Rose Eye Mask

It came with a full-sized Eye Mask and a Mascara Sample and Makeup Remover Sample all from the Sephora Collection. I live for Mascara so I’m excited to try the Sephora Cinescope Panoramic Effect Volume Mascara out! The Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover seems to be one of those dual-phase ones (that you have to shake up before use) so I wanna’ say it’s a budget-friendly dupe of the Lancome Bi-Facils something or other, which I dislike because it would always leave an oily film on my eyes (making it next to impossible to apply makeup over-top), giving me foggy vision and being an all around pain, in general. I tried the Rose Eye Mask as soon as I got home and wasn’t all that impressed. I’ve purchased a bunch of these ages ago and remember them being much nicer. Aside from the fact that proportions were so off making it a pain getting this stuff to stay in place (which I remember from the older ones), I didn’t notice any difference whatsoever. I could barely detect any scent to this stuff as well! I don’t think I’ll ever repurchase any of the Sephora Eye Masks again, at least not the ones in this particular style (strips)… maybe in potted or pump-form though. Lastly, the All About Eyes Pouch, that housed all 3 Sephora products, was actually cute too (meaning it could definitely be put to good use)!

Why do my Sephora “hauls” always end up amounting to around the same total? Odd. Anyways, I really, really, really love every single thing I bought in this haul and wholeheartedly recommend each and every single one of them!
