Spotted at Sephora

Ah, Sephora, my happy place!

I noticed so many new and really cool things over at Sephora! They had several new brands (well… new to Kuwait at least) such as Ouai (Hair Care) and Origins (Skincare) and Cover FX and Black Up and even Zoeva! Heck, they even had an entire section featuring Korean Skincare (I die!) from brands such as Skinfood and Dr. Jart+ and Starskin and Erborian! They also had a bunch of new releases on display from the Sephora Collection and from other brands as well. I didn’t get a chance to take as many photos as I would’ve liked (because they caught me and straight up asked me to stop), but I managed to snap a few pics beforehand ^_~

Coconut (light grey packaging)
Charcoal (dark grey packaging)

I remember purchasing a bunch of the Sephora Face Masks and Sephora Eye Masks around early 2015 (or was it 2016?) so they’re not exactly new, per say. However, the other stuff (Hair Mask and Dry Shampoo and Micellar Water and the entire Charcoal Collection) seem to be a newer addition to the range. If I happen to be mistaken, then I apologize. They might’ve been around the whole time and I might’ve just never noticed the huge display… until now. As I said, I’ve purchased a few of those Face Masks and Eyes Masks ages ago and the Honey Lip Scrub more recently (haulage here). As such, I’m probably going to be repurchasing a few more of those Face Masks and Eye Masks down the line, possibly even one or two of those Lip Masks as well. Sadly, each Dry Shampoo I sniffed smelled worse than the one before, so I’m definitely going to be skipping those. Still undecided about the Sleeping Hair Mask (sounds messy), but everything seems to be at a pretty reasonable-ish price point (relatively inexpensive) so I just might give some of the other stuff a try too.

Cleansing & Exfoliating Wipes (KD 2/750) – Hand Balms & Scrubs (KD 2/750)

I wonder if the products themselves (Top: Wipes – Bottom: Hand Cream) are new or if it’s the featured ingredients (YuzuGreen TeaPomegranate)? Y’know what? I’m kinda’ feelin’ the Yuzu.

Sephora Skincare
(Face Moisturizers – Face Serums – Body Moisturizers – Makeup Removers – Toner – Cotton Pads – Silicone Skincare Brush – Booster Drops – Face Masks – Body Scrubs – Self-Tan – Nail Polish Remover)

If you click on the close-up, you can see on the top row is the Sephora Instant Moisture+ Cream (partially cut off in the photo) and next to that is the Sephora Intensive Instant Moisture+ Cream and next to that is Sephora Instant Moisture Water Gel. I’ve been having an issue with dry skin recently, so I wanted a really good moisturizer to combat that issue. According to the reviews online, one of these 3 moisturizers was awesome… except I kinda’ forgot which one. I really wanted to get the Gel except at this point, it’s less about what I want and more about what I actually need. So, after staring at all 3 for about ten minutes or so, I gave up (without picking any) and just walked away.

Awwww, we finally have Origins in Kuwait! It’s about time, I say. This Origins display really warms my heart, not unlike their Ginger Body Wash lawl (hauled here)! The prices are relatively decent (no insane mark-up) as well! However, I haven’t seen hide nor hair of my beloved GinZing Mascara (haulage here) anywhere just yet. Someone should really fix that, asap! Please? I beg!

Another cute li’l Origins Gift Set (KD 7/500) display!

Bottom Row: Plumprageous Matte Lip Treatment (KD 10/000)- PoutMud Lip Exfoliating Treatment (KD 7/000) (haulage here)

Does it actually say “#Hello Helwa” (which roughly translates to “Hello Beautiful” from Arabic) or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Anyways, I’m kinda’ smitten with the Waterburst Glow Moisturizer! Heck, even the GlowStarter and GlowSetter are sounding pretty good to me right about now! Gosh, everything at GlamGlow just looks and sounds so fun! Also, with those prices, you know GlamGlow ‘aint playin.

Korean Skincare! OMG OMG OMG! Dreams do come true!

Left: Skinfood
Middle: Too Cool For School
Right: Erborian

Granted we’re a little lacking in the Korean Beauty and Skincare department, but hey, it’s a start! If you’re interested, I stumbled upon Skinfood in the basement floor over at 360 Mall (where I was told that they were the ones actually supplying Sephora with Skinfood products). Obviously, the Skinfood store has way more stuff than what’s featured at Sephora.

I’ve been dying to get my hands on the Hydra Sparkling Skincare range from Givenchy for what feels like forever now!

So I was super stoked when I spotted the Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Luminescence Moisturizing Bubbling Lotion! I’m probably gonna’ wait until November for the Perfume & Makeup Exhibition though, to get a better deal (‘cuz this stuff is price-y) and hopefully some skincare samples too!

I was kinda’ overwhelmed by the new Hair Care stuff, especially from Ouai.

Ouai

They had everything from Shampoo and Conditioner to Wave Spray and Hair Oil and even Rose Hair & Body Oil. Best of all, they had Dry Shampoo! Unfortunately, I couldn’t smell anything (was worried they might have a *shudder* floral scent), because my nose was burnt out at this point (from sniffing so many perfumes earlier).

Black Up

Finally, a legit Makeup Brand for WOC in Kuwait (about time, I say)! I’ve never actually heard of Black Up before, but everything just looks so interesting! I can’t wait to play around with the Face Stuff, the Two-Way Cake, in particular!

I’m so glad to see that Zoeva finally made the jump to Kuwait. Everyone is always raving about their Brush Sets and Eyeshadow Palettes, in particular. I’ve never actually purchased anything from Zoeva before (I’d always fill up my online shopping cart, but opt out, at the last minute), so I can’t wait to start hoarding buying stuff from them now! The price point seems pretty fair too!

Despite having a pitiful selection of shades (as per usual) the Sephora Nail Polishes came in really cute, tiny, egg-shaped packaging! Dunno’ how new these were, but they were mad cute!

I also spotted the Limited Edition Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water Juice Sprays (Sets + Refreshes).

So Chill Coconut (a relaxing blend of coconut and vanilla)
Centering Citrus (a balancing blood orange and grounding grapefruit)
Serene Greens (cooling cucumber and mellow melon)

I was planning on purchasing at least one of them, but the S.A. manning the Smashbox counter annoyed me so much that I had to walk away. Anyways, is it me or do the models in the promo shot look like they might be from Kuwait?

Tarte Be A Mermaid & Make Waves Eyeshadow Palette retails for KD 18/750

Nothing about this particular Eyeshadow Palette (aside from the shade Bubbles) actually appeals to me. I absolutely despise the packaging! However, I thought some of you might find it interesting and might maybe even wanna’ purchase this thing.

Tarte Minutes to Mermaid Brush Set retails for KD 18/750

Ewww lol My poor eyes. In the interest of full disclosure, I’m pretty sure my younger self would have looked at this and thought “Wow! So pretty!”, but as we get older our tastes tend to grow and mature with us. As such, I find this particular Bush Set to be quite hideous. I just don’t do “rainbow vomit”. Maybe if the bristles were a bright blue or purple, as opposed to pink, I could probably stomach looking at these brushes and heck, maybe even using them. If that’s your thing though, hurry, hurry, before they run out!

Fenty Beauty Fairy Bomb Glittering Pom Pom (KD 16/750)

Awwww! Not quite sure what it is, but I just wanna’ pet it and nuzzle it and cuddle it! For that price though, I’m definitely not buying it (sorry, RiRi, I lurrrve you though, always and forever).

Honestly, the reason why I was stalking Sephora was solely in anticipation of the Kat Von D Holographic Palette (dun-dun-duuun Illumaniti). It was love at first sight (when I saw someone swatch it on YouTube months before it’s actual release date), but by the time it finally got to Kuwait, I’d already accumulated several dupes from ColourPop. As such, I can’t justify purchasing this thing… or can I? Mwahaha No, but really, no.

Cover FX
Glitter Drops (KD 17/000)
Shimmer Veil (KD 11/000)

I didn’t even realize we had Cover FX in Kuwait! My. God. These things are so stinkin’ pretty! I just wanna… I dunno… eat them! Well… maybe not that. Maybe just bathe in them! Like, just douse myself in them! They’re so pretty that my heart actually aches just looking at them! ♥

Apparently, the Shimmer Veils are meant to be used as toppers over Eye Shadows, whereas the Glitter Drops are meant to be used everywhere else.

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops (KD 16/250)

I was so looking forward to picking up one or two of these, but alas, after swatching the entire range, none of them complimented my odd sallow skintone. I mean the S.A. was breathing down my neck the whole time (and shoving random products in my face), so maybe I need to give these another shot when nobody is around to distract me? LOL look at me trying to justify purchasing them. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. I shouldn’t force it.

Hope you enjoyed this post! ^_^

  1. It def feels like i visited Sephora :) Thank you for this post. Am excited about Origins. I was so annoyed of the fact that Dubai was having all this but Kuwait doesnt. Now i should get my ass to Sephora asap. I have tried the hair mask from Sephora. Was not as messy as i thought but i dont think it particularly did anything for my hair.

Also i think the models are Ahood and Rania Fawaz. Lol the SA’s at Sephora will always say everything suits you. I mean really?!! I dont mean to do it but sometimes i have to call them out on the bullshit they talk. Getting me to try a foundation 2 shades lighter for me and says it looks nice.. Lol. Ok maam!!

  2. Oh wow, Sonia, thanks so much! That’s exactly the vibe I was going for with this post (I wanted it to feel like you just visited Sephora) but I was worried that there’d be too much to read, which could be distracting. Should I just stick with pics only (no names, no prices), or continue using the same format (if I don’t forget in about a week lol), what do you think?

Yes! Origins is exciting! This might sound kinda’ weird but I love the way their products smell, especially that one cream called night-a-mins which straight up smelled like oranges! They need to bring over my GinZing Mascara to Kuwait, though. That stuff is ah-mah-zing! If you haven’t tried it yet, first chance you get, go for it. Trust.

So a definite no on the Sephora Hair Mask for me. To be honest, I rarely notice any hair treatments actually doing anything to my hair. I just like to tell myself that “ooh this worked” and “ooh that worked” for the fun of it, but the changes are honestly unnoticeable haha

Foundation 2 shades lighter lol Where do they find these people? Also, why are they not better trained? Thanks for the heads-up on the models! I KNEW the one on the right looked familiar! What would I do without you? lol

  3. Awww thanks for the love. Yes, please stick to the same format. I actually love reading blogs so don’t have an issue with things being detailed.

Oohh GinZing mascara!! No, unfortunately i havent had the chance to try this. I will def take you up on this. I love Origins facemasks n i use the eye cream too.

Hahaha regarding the hair masks, yeah that’s so true. I just don’t see any results. But i try to justify my purchase by convincing myself that there is some change. Lol!! However, i am interested to try out Ouai.(just want to point out that there s a typo with the brand name) I kinda feel Jen Atkins knows what shes talking about. Any idea if these are priced reasonably?

  4. Thanks, Sonia! I say again, what would I do without you? It took me no less than 3 attempts to fix it too. For some reason, my fingers keep switching out the “i” for the “a” in Ouai haha I had to go back and fix the Tags and Categories as well (fun!) and kept making the same mistake over and over again. Good looking out, man! I seriously appreciate it!

Yeah, so Ouai (whoops, almost did it again lol) products seem kinda’ pricey for what they are. However, I did spot a few travel-sized versions at the “aisle of doom” (where they stock all the impossibly cute minis) just before the check-out counter, if that helps. Plus, like you said Jen Atkins knows her ish. Personally, I haven’t had much experience with Ouai before and have only ever heard Beauty Influencers gushing about it on YouTube. I did purchase the Ouai Dry Shampoo though. Spoiler Alert: It sucked so bad!

  5. Hahaha aisle of doom .. Gosh i love your sense of humor.

Oh so u tried the foam Ouai dry shampoo?? Yeah, i saw so many people giving mixed reviews on that one. I was looking to try the shampoo or the oil. Will have a look the next time i go to Sephora. (bye bye savings!! )

  6. Thanks hehe :) It really is the aisle of doom! I end up spending more cash on the minis than their full sized counterparts lol

Nope not the foam shampoo. Haulage post to come ;)
