We hit up Boots as the final stop (not smart lol because we had to double-back) on our little shopping spree (Bath & Body Works Haulage – Claire’s Haulage – I am Haulage) before heading to Starbucks. Initially, I wanted to treat my niece to dinner at Shake Shack, but she insisted on Starbucks. Apparently, it’s the place to “be seen” among the younger set (read: tweens) as my niece and her friends are always begging their parents to take them to Starbucks (… and so it begins).
I’ve heard all about my niece’s obsession with Starbucks from her mom (my sister), but I’ve never experienced it first-hand, until now. I mean the majority of the drinks were off-limits to her, not only because of the caffeine, but also because she was allergic to milk (she’d develop a rash and start itching like crazy). Also, it’s not like she was actually meeting up with any of her other tween friends there (with their parents in tow). She wanted to go to Starbucks just for the sake of it. I tried reasoning with the kid, but she was adamant. I felt that she was way too young (she literally just turned 11) to start caring about the “it” place and being seen” at Starbucks and all that. Sure, back in the day, my friends and I made it a point to meet up at Starbucks pretty regularly, but Starbucks had literally just opened up shop in Kuwait. More importantly, we were in 11th grade not 11 years old. That said, once she she started making puppy eyes at me, it was over (she won). I couldn’t very well refuse her after that. We ended up having hot chocolate and cake at Starbucks, but not before making a
quick stop at Boots.
Initially, I’d wanted to pick up one of those clear Maybelline Baby Lips (reviewed here) or even the Yellow Maybelline Baby Lips – Electro Pop (reviewed here) but couldn’t find either one of them. Instead, I only found the Maybelline Baby Lips – Sport (hauled earlier here) so I picked up the clear one for my niece. I’ll admit that the rest of the haul was all for me. In my defense, Boots had a lot (and I mean a lot) of new stuff! I mean, right away I noticed that they had Korean Skincare (finally!) including all kinds of Sheet Masks and Moisturizers in Anthropomorphic Packaging and so on. Aside from all the new stuff and new brands, they also had new additions to their existing brands, including Soap & Glory. I quickly grabbed some of the things that I actually needed (Dry Shampoo + Under-Eye Patches) and some of the things that I was interested in playing around with (Face Masks), before we could start the long trek to Starbucks.
Soap & Glory RUSHOWER™ Dry Shampoo (200ml) retails for KD 2/250
“Soap & Glory’s RUSHOWER™ Dry Shampoo is a scent-sational in-between washes quick-fix spritz. The spray instantly absorbs excess oil and dries so it’s invisible – even on dark hair. Friction-activated TOUCH-RELEASE™ technology gives your hair a gorgeous burst of mandarin rose and bergamot whenever you run your fingers through it. Nice dry, girls!”
For some reason, I can’t seem to find Batiste Dry Shampoo (featured here) at Boots anymore. The Batiste Hint of Colour Medium & Brunette Dry Shampoo is actually my favorite, if not Holy Grail Dry Shampoo! In fact, I go through at least 2 cans of the stuff, per year. Once my last one ran out, I went back to Boots to repurchase, except I could only find the other scents from Batiste, which is why I picked up Batiste fruity & cheeky Cherry Dry Shampoo (haulage here). I didn’t love the scent, so I forced myself to use it all up pretty quickly.
Unfortunately, Boots seem to have phased out not only the Batiste Dry Shampoo (including my beloved Batiste Hint of Colour Medium & Brunette), but all Dry Shampoo, indiscriminately. I’ve been searching for any Dry Shampoo ever since. They did have these No-Rinse Foams (I believe it was from a french brand) in several scents, including orange, but it’s just not the same and I really wasn’t interested. That’s why I was so happy when I spotted this Soap & Glory RUSHOWER Dry Shampoo! My happiness was short-lived though because this stuff was awful! It left a white residue on my skin (everywhere from my forehead to my ears) and I hated the scent which was floral ugh (despite my complaints about its scent Batiste Cherry Dry Shampoo smelled a thousand times better, in comparison) and most unforgivable of all, this stuff didn’t give my hair the volume that I was so used to getting from my Batiste Dry Shampoo! Y u do dis to me Boots? Just bring back Batiste Hint of Colour Medium & Brunette Dry Shampoo already! Por favor! I beg!

I was getting around 2.5 hours of sleep a day (my neurotic brain just would not let me rest) and as a result, bruises began to manifest under my eyes. Honestly, it wasn’t a good look but I didn’t think much of it… until my father commented on my dark circles. I love my dad, but the man never had perfect vision to begin with (he can’t tell when I’m wearing blatantly neon green contacts) so the fact that he noticed my dark circles and even felt the need to comment on them was saying a lot. I picked up these Super Hydrating Under-Eye Brightening Hydrogel Patches because they seemed like a quick-fix. Just pop ’em on and forget about them! Plus, they seemed like a new addition to Soap & Glory. Honestly, I haven’t had a chance to use them just yet.
Soap & Glory WHAT A PEELING™ Purifying Peel Off Mask retails for KD 2/250
“WHAT A PEELING™ PURIFYING DE-CLOG MASK
Just like you, this peel-off mask is totally hard pore. Liquid gel transforms into the lift-off paper strip to smooth, purify and remove all gunk and junk (including blackheads, ew) in one go – it’s so a-peeling! Our multi-tasking mask is power-packed with 10 amazing ingredients including:
– Kaolin and Bentonite Fine Clay Powders to help absorb excess oil
– White Willow Bark to help oil skin
– Vitamin C to boost tired complexions
– Scented with exotic tropical fruit”
This Mask seemed to be another of the newly released products (but don’t quote me on that). That said, I wasn’t quite sure what it was but snatched it up anyway because the packaging looked cuuute (I know, I know.) and I didn’t have time to figure out what it was, because I had my little niece with me, and I didn’t want her to get bored (even though she was happily texting away on her phone). On my way to the cash register, some woman stopped me (she didn’t look nor sound like a local) and asked me about this stuff and even though I truthfully answered that I wasn’t quite sure, she snatched one up to purchase as well lol (I tells ya’, it’s the cutesy packaging)!
Many moons later, I had an event coming up and wanted to “prep” my skin. So, I popped open one of the pods only to find it filled with purdy pink liquid. I tried using my finger to apply the stuff to my face, but it was next to impossible, especially after the half-way mark. That’s when I realized this thing came with its own Scoop! Using the Scoop, I could get at the rest of the Mask in the tiny pod. As the Mask dried on my face, the consistency totally changed from liquid-y to legit rubber-y! I gave it a few more minutes before peeling the whole thing off. My face looked slightly brighter, but I’m not sure if it’s just my imagination or if it was because of this stuff. In any case, the Mask was cute, pretty inexpensive, had a fun name and was fun to play around with! I’d say try it at least once, if for the novelty factor alone.
These are all the new Soap & Glory products I purchased in this haul. In the past, I’ve found Soap & Glory products (reviews here) to be very hit or miss. It seems that hasn’t changed (at least for me).
Boots Ingredients Hydrating & Nourishing Sheet Face Mask retails for KD 1/500
“This specially formulated sheet mask is enriched with Super Hyaluron to help leave your skin moisturised and nourished. Leaves skin feeling moisturised for up to 12 hours.”
Lastly, I picked up one of these Boots Ingredients – Sheet Face Masks. I’ve seen them before, but never actually bit the bullet, until now. I’ll probably pull this particular Sheet Face Mask out and use it to prep for Eid!
My niece loved her Maybelline Baby Lips Sport (especially the scent) and I’m pretty happy with all the skincare I got! Once again, everything was under a tenner! I’m definitely going to head back to Boots at some point for some of those new Korean Sheet Masks! ♥
