Peter Thomas Roth Mini Mask Magic (Sephora Exclusive)

My sister and I were at Sephora when I spotted this adorable little trio (Cucumber and Rose and Pumpkin) and decided to get one for her and one for myself. I’ve always wanted to try out some of the Peter Thomas Roth stuff but figured that Aramex would never ship them to me (based on the ingredients, consistency, and so on). I remember lusting after the Rose Stem Cell Mask in particular, and dying with envy every single time someone on YouTube would showcase it in one of their videos. That’s why I was super excited when I found the Mini Mask Magic at our local Sephora! That said, these babies are tiny (0.05 fl oz/15ml tiny)! In a way, it’s kind of a good thing because I get to try out each one of the 3 masks without committing to the full size just yet. Honestly, I’m so thankful that our local Sephora is bringing in more and more travel-sized products, particularly ones that come in sets.

These babies are stupid cute! Also, they all smell so good!

Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme Detoxifying Hydrator

After applying the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask and walking out into direct sunlight, I got a really bad sunburn. Supposedly, this Cucumber Gel Mask is meant to be used after sun exposure, facials, peels, waxing, etc… So, I popped this stuff stuff in the fridge for a bit (just as they suggested), before applying it to my sunburned skin. As gentle as they claim this stuff to be, the Cucumber Gel Mask actually stung me. However, once my sunburn was fully healed, I used the Cucumber Gel Mask again and it didn’t sting.

Is it an earth-shattering great mask? Not really. Is it a nice mask? Sure. Will I ever use it as a Sleeping Mask? Nope, too messy.

I like that this stuff has a light fresh scent. I also like that it’s got a gel texture. Also, it just looks fun!

Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask

The main reason I purchased the Mini Mask Magic was for this stuff! How stinkin’ cute does this look? It’s all pink and adorable! It even sounds all scientific, I mean, Rose Stem Cell (c’mon now). Not that I’m interested in turning into a Rose any time in the near future but still, so cute!

Truthfully, it feels just like the Cucumber Gel Mask as I didn’t notice much of a difference between the two. As such, I don’t think I’ll ever try this as a Sleeping Mask. That said, I have taken to chilling the Rose Stem Cell Mask in the fridge, pre-application. After using the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask in the shower, I’ll slather this stuff on after the shower, wrap my hair in a towel, get dressed, etc… then wash the Rose Mask off. I’m not sure if it’s actually doing anything, but I like to believe that it is.

I love the Rose scent! I also like that it’s got a gel texture. Honestly, I love everything about the Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask! I know, I know, it’s such a gimmick-y product, but I just can’t help it! I’m obsessed with the Rose Stem Cell Mask!

Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer

Okay, so it’s no secret that I prefer physical exfoliants over chemical exfoliants, but this stuff is awesome! For starters, it smells ridiculously good! For real, it legit smells like Pumpkin Pie! Second of all, the little scrubby bits exfoilate my skin pretty evenly (no skipping over certain areas) resulting in baby-soft skin! The only thing I didn’t like was how this stuff felt on my skin. I used the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask in the shower and it felt like my face was being eaten alive! I’m used to a slight tingling sensation, sometimes a cooling minty effect, other times a warming effect a la ginger, but this stuff was more of a straight up burning effect. I got so scared (lawl) that I washed it off before the suggested 10 minute mark.

With that being said, I’m not very experienced when it comes to products that contain AHA and other powerful chemicals, so maybe the face-being-eaten-alive sensation is completely normal? In any case, I completely disregarded the Sunburn Alert (found on the packaging) and went out during the day, just like every other day… and was rewarded with an angry sunburn down the bridge of my nose and across the top of my cheeks. At first I was like “Aww it kinda’ looks nice” but that quickly changed to “Owww owww owww it hurts, it hurts”. Lesson learned… the hard way (lawl).

I believe that out of all the exfoliating products that I’ve ever used in my entire life, the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask is the one that’s given me the best results (baby soft skin) so far, due to how this stuff exfoliates so evenly! You can use this stuff to prep your skin before applying makeup (it makes your makeup go on much smoother) or skincare (your skincare will be able to penetrate that much more deeply and be that much more potent) after you’ve decongested your skin with this stuff. Plus, it smells great to boot! Just make sure to protect your skin from the sun afterwards.

If you get a chance to purchase the Peter Thomas Roth Mini Mask Magic Trio or any of the other sets from the brand, definitely go for it!

  1. Hiya Marebare! I’m actually too chicken to touch retinol lol mainly because it’s some pretty serious stuff and I’m kinda’ careless and apparently you’re supposed to be careful about avoiding sunlight and whatnot. How are you finding it so far? As for the masks, ask for a sample of the Rose Stem Cell if possible so you can try before you buy and see how you like it. It smells so good!
