I was at The Avenues with my younger brother’s wife when we (and by we, I mean me) decided to stop by a Sephora (I say a, as if we have more than one Sephora in Kuwait lawl). I was dumbfounded by my sister-in-law’s maturity (I’m pretty sure I’m at least 6-8 years older than her) because she exercised such restraint (masha’allah) and only purchased a few items, and even then, they were only things she would actually use, as opposed to myself randomly grabbing products left and right (just kidding, they were all “necessities”) and tossing them in my shopping basket (that they hand out at the entrance to Sephora). Even at the zigzag-y queue leading to the check-out counter, she showed little to no interest in all the ridiculously adorable minis! I was starting to suspect that she wasn’t really human (because how could anyone not be enticed by those cute minis at the zigzag-y queue?) and so as a final test I pointed out the GlamGlow PoutMud, mumbled something or other and tossed it in my shopping basket, to which she exclaimed that she was interested in trying it as well, and tossed one in her own shopping basket. Success! My adorable sister-in-law had succumbed to the cuteness of a Lip Scrub which meant she was a red-blooded human being (not an Alien life-form impervious to human wants like “makeup-y bits”) after all!

I spent KD 70/250 in total but didn’t get a single sample because apparently the brands that I’d purchased from (Benefit and Kat Von D and BeautyBlender and Sephora) had “just ran out of samples“. Apparently, in Kuwait, you can only get samples as a gift with purchase (after you buy more than 3-4 items from a single brand) and the samples can only be from the exact same brand that you purchased from (you can spend a trillion at the Chanel counter but still won’t qualify to get the cheapy, one-time-use Clarins sachet of anti-UV moisturizer because Chanel and Clarins are different brands) which means that even if you spent a trillion Kuwaiti Dinars on makeup-y bits, you still wouldn’t get a single one-time-use perfume sample and vice versa, and even then, it wasn’t a given that you’ll get anything at all, because more often than not, they “just ran out of samples“. All that would’ve been fine except I lost my Sephora Card thingy… again, which meant that I wouldn’t get any points, despite all the money I just spent, which means it’ll take me that much longer to get up to a Black Card (full deets here) -_-

There must be a more efficient way to do this.

BeautyBlender Micro Mini Correct Four (4 piece) retails for KD 8/500

The correct.four allows for precise application of corrective concealers. These limited-edition micro.minis are perfect for all corrective concealers and are ideal for highlighting and contouring. They’re perfect for applying formulas to smaller areas such as the undereye, around the nose, above and below the browbone, chin area, and for covering acne and dark spots.

I could’ve sworn that I’ve purchased the BeautyBlender Micro Mini Duo (2 piece) from or when they were first released, but I can’t seem to find them at the moment, and really can’t be bothered with digging for them. In any case, the Micro Mini Beauty Blenders that I’d previously purchased, came as a Duo (2 piece) and were both lime green. These newer Micro Mini Beauty Blenders in the Correct Four (4 piece) each come in a different pastel shade (green, purple, pink, and peach), making it easier to keep track of which is which (so you don’t cross-contaminate). Aside from the fact that these are new, probably Limited Edition (once they’re gone, they’re gone for good), and actually quite practical (multitude of uses due to their size), they’re all pastel-y and adorable, which is why I just had to get them! Logic!

In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve got my own Holy Grail Makeup Sponge (which I found at Boots, of all places, when they first opened up shop in Kuwait, I wanna’ say around 2006) but picked up the Original BeautyBlender (Pink, Full-Size) when it was first released because I enjoy trying out new stuff. That said, the BeautyBlender was not, is not, and never will be my be-all end-all. However, once I spotted this pack of 4 Micro Mini Beauty Blenders in cute pastel shades, I couldn’t resist the cuteness!

For now, I’ve been using the peach to blend out my under-eye concealer and on occasion, nose contour, both of which I use the ColourPop No Filter Concealer in the shade Medium 30 for (hauled here). It’s slightly too dark as under-eye concealer for me (as my cousins are so fond of telling me) but it’s only obvious to people who see me without makeup on the regular and even then, if I dust a little bit of MAC Give Me Sun Mineralize Skinfinish (which I tend to skip when I’m feeling lazy) everything just blends in seamlessly. Anyways, these little cuties are perfect for people who enjoy doing more detailed work or want a more precise application!

I picked up two GlamGlow products that were new to me (and possibly new at Sephora). The packaging looks like Astronaut Swag (very Space Age-y) which I thought was pretty cool!

GlamGlow SuperCleanse mud to foam Daily Clearing Cleanser 150g retails for KD 14/000 (discontinued)

SUPERCLEANSE™ with a pore-refining triple-charcoal boost! Our most advanced clearing cream-to-foam cleanser, now with a powerful blend of three charcoals to detoxify and absorb a range of impurities from the skin. Infused with TEAOXI® Eucalyptus Leaf, Mediterranean clay, and a special blend of bamboo, ubame wood, and coconut charcoals, this formula clarifies and helps remove pore-clogging debris, excess oil, and face makeup, while leaving skin feeling soothed, soft, and sexy.

This stuff is amaaaze! Normally, I prefer to cleanse my face using physical exfoliants (extremely abrasive, the grittier, the better), but the GlamGlow SuperCleanse was quite smooth and creamy. As such, I was disappointed and wasn’t really expecting much. How wrong I was!

First of all, this stuff was a cool blue-gray shade which I thought was so fun! It comes out of the pump almost like some form of Hair Creme, except it’s in a really cool blue-gray shade! You only need a single pump to cleanse your entire face. Ideally, you’re supposed to squeeze some onto dry hands, add warm water, rub your hands together to form a lather, and then apply it to a dry face. However, I prefer to smear it all over my face, dampen my hands under running water, and then start massaging it in circular motions, before rinsing it off. Since it’s a blatant blue-gray, you definitely won’t miss a spot when you rinse it off!

The scent (Eucalyptus Leaf mixed in with something earth-y) leaves a lot to be desired, which is usually the case with most GlamGlow products. As a matter of fact, the only GlamGlow products that has ever had a pleasant scent was the GlamGlow ThirstyMud (hauled here) which smelled all coconut-y and lovely! The rest all usually smell like dirt earthy. That said, once you rinse off the Daily Clearing Cleanser the scent doesn’t linger and is completely gone almost instantly.

The reason why I was very impressed with the GlamGlow SuperCleanse was because not only did it erase all traces of my pores, make my skin feel softer and my face look brighter, but also because it made my skin breathe! Generally, I’m very diligent when it comes to not suffocating my skin (because I’m too lazy to apply face makeup) so when a product makes my skin feel like it can breathe, I sit up and take notice. It’s nothing over the top, really. It’s just like when you get out of a shower and your skin feels lighter (like it can finally breathe). GlamGlow SuperCleanse made my face feel so fresh and so clean clean! I also liked how it made my face look considerably brighter! Even my pores practically disappeared! My skin was softer as well! After using the GlamGlow SuperCleanse my face was a blank canvas, all prepped and ready for whatever I chose to apply next (be it skincare before going to bed or makeup before heading out)!

I know this stuff is classified as a Daily Clearing Cleanser but I wouldn’t recommend using it on the daily as it can dry out your skin and possibly even irritate your skin. I recommend using it every other day, but that’s just me. Personally, I’m surprised to say this because the GlamGlow SuperCleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser isn’t the least bit abrasive (and I prefer hardcore physical exfoliants) but I love this stuff! That’s why I’m devastated that they’ve changed the packaging (from the pump you see now, to a tube) and reformulated the whole thing into a much less potent version. Why, GlamGlow, why?

GlamGlow PoutMud Fizzy Lip Exfoliating Treatment 25g retails for KD 10/000

A Multi Action Fizzy Exfoliating Treatment to Instantly Renew, Energize, & Smooth the look of Lips. Featuring an Exfoliation Complex of Caribbean Cane Sugar, Hawaiian Sea Salt & Hibiscus Flower Powder. Boosted with an Antioxidant Rich Tropical Fruit Blend of Sweet Almond Oil, Guava, Cherimoya, Star Fruit, Lychee & Mangosteen and TEAOXI® Moroccan Mint Leaf for Sweet Minty Kissable Lips.

This lil cutie is the one I enticed my adorable sister-in-law into getting. I mean, how stinkin’ cute does this thing look? I spotted it at the zigzag-y queue (while waiting in line at check-out counter) along with a bunch of other adorable travel-size minis. KD 10/000 (about $30.35 US Dollars) is a bit much for this thing, especially since it actually retails for $24 US Dollars abroad which is KD 7/200, but since I’ve tried several Lip Scrubs in the past (both in pot-form as well as stick-form), I was curious to see how the GlamGlow one would hold up. I’m not justifying the price, by any means. I’m simply explaining my thought process as to why I purchased this thing.

Personally, I’ve grown to dislike any and every sugar-based scrub mainly because they’re just so oily. Once I unscrewed the upper half of the sphere (the cap) and removed the protective plastic lid, I noticed that the GlamGlow PoutMud was yet another one of those sugar-based lip exfoliators that I just do not like. Not gonna’ lie, I was a bit disappointed by that, but there was nothing I could do about it now. Using my middle finger, I scooped a generous amount onto my lips, gently rubbing back and forth, until my lips were sufficiently exfoliated. As expected, the Fizzy Lip Exfoliating Treatment was very oily (ugh). However, unlike most emollient Lip Scrubs that I’ve used in the past, the scrubby bits didn’t instantly dissolve into nothing on my lips. They were quite quite grainy and abrasive and actually exfoliated my lips quite efficiently before melting away!

I didn’t notice any fizzing but maybe that’s because I wiped off the residue with a tissue prior to rinsing it off. Also, despite all the exotic tropical fruits that are listed in the description, GlamGlow PoutMud smelled extremely mint-y (it was the only note I could detect). Regardless, my lips felt quite smooth afterwards and it’s not just because of the oil-y residue (ugh). The reason I’m so sure is because I tend to chew on my bottom lip (enough to break the skin, causing it to bleed) when I’m thinking deeply about something. As a result, my bottom lip is in a constant state of mid-healing. No amount of Lip Balms or whatever else, can speed up that process. It has to heal on its own. As it heals, new skin grows, which causes texture. When I wear Liquid Lipsticks, particularly mattes, they tend to cling to texture. It’s not a good look. The GlamGlow PoutMud remedies that issue by completely buffing away any and every form of texture, dead skin, etc… revealing smoother and consequentially softer lips! My matte lipsticks go on that much more smoothly!

In all honesty, I still prefer the Lip Exfoliators in stick-form (faster, easier, less messy, more efficient, etc…). However, in comparison to all the Lip Exfoliators that I’ve tried in pot-form (including the Sara Happ Lip Scrub, Lush Lip Scrubs, etc…) the GlamGlow PoutMud is by far the best one yet!

I remember getting pretty excited when Benefit first released a whole slew of NEW BROW PRODUCTS!!!! I’ve been meaning to try them out for quite some time now, but there were just so many to choose from and honestly, it was a bit overwhelming (I couldn’t decide on what to get). Seeing them in person, I was quite intrigued by the ka-BROW! Eyebrow Cream-Gel especially since it came with a built-in Angled Brow Brush (I’m kinda’ obsessed with Angled Brow Brushes) so I decided to get it. At the check-out counter, I spotted a travel-size Roller Lash Mascara which I haven’t actually tried yet, so I got that as well.

Benefit ka-BROW! Eyebrow Cream-Gel Color (with brush) in the shade 03 retails for KD 9/500

Full-on brow drama!
Brush on rich, buildable colour! This all-in-one eyebrow cream-gel easily fills, sculpts and defines brows. Plus the built-in hard-angled brush magically converts to a full-size brush for precise control & effortless application! Includes signature Tips & Tricks!

– builds from natural-looking to dramatic
– cream-gel colour
– 24 hour waterproof wear

The packaging instantly reminded me of a certain Jem and The Holograms episode (see side-photo), the same episode where I learned what a Skeleton Key was (and referenced it here). That said, I’m not a fan of the name ka-Brow (it doesn’t roll off the tongue easily) even though normally I find word-play to be humorous. As you can see, this thing is no bigger than a 100 Fils Coin (KD 0/100). It comes in a clear jar (speckled with a few stars) with a flimsy and cheap-looking cap that’s got a built-in removable Angled Brow Brush. It also came with a “Magic Tips & Tricks” pamphlet. Ka-Brow is available in 6 shades (1 Light, 2 Light, 3 Medium, 4 Medium, 5 Deep, 6 Deep) and I was going for one of the darker shades, but the Sales Assistant manning the Benefit counter in addition to my sister-in-law, both urged me to get the shade 03 Medium. It was blatantly lighter and I knew I should go with my gut on this, but I didn’t want to possibly offend my adorable sister-in-law, so I got the shade 03 Medium just to humor her. As I suspected, once I applied this stuff to my brows (back home) it was not only much lighter than my natural brow hair, but also pulled a little reddish on me (I’m quite pale at the moment). Despite the mismatched shade, I actually like this stuff… so far! It might take a little longer than my usual brow-powder-routine to apply but the result is well worth it! The cream-gel formula didn’t budge when I got caught outside in a light sprinkle of rain, nor when I started to sweat glow (Winters in Kuwait can be pretty warm during the day)! The Angled Brow Brush is tiny (for a more precise application), angled (my favorite), and over all, quite cute! Also, I love how once I’m done with the Brush, I can just pop it back, into the hole, in the cap. Over all, I’m actually very impressed with Benefit Ka-Brow! (despite the ugly-looking cap) because it’s such a handy product!

Benefit Roller Lash Curling Mascara (mini) retails for KD 4/500

Curl Power!
It’s a roller for lashes! The eye-opening Hook ‘n’ Roll™ brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls…while the instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours. Contains provitamin B5 and serin, ingredients known for their lash-conditioning benefits. Available in two stunning shades, original ink black or brown.

– Comes in full size & mini
– Satin finish
– Water-resistant & easy to remove
– 87% said it gives long-lasting curl

I picked up the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (mini) at the zigzag-y queue while waiting in line at the check-out counter. The Benefit Roller Lash Mascara was completely dried up (typical Kuwait) even though I opened it up and attempted using it almost a week after I’d purchased it! With that being said, the curved brush is quite lovely! In fact, whenever I happen to over-do it with any other mascara (that results in my lashes clumping together and looking all spider-y), I’ve taken to brushing them through using the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (mini), because it not only separates my lashes but also fans them out beautifully!

I’m thinking, I might just go back and purchase the full-size of this thing (provided the Sales Assistant opens it up, then and there, to prove that it’s not all dried up, before I take it home with me).

I tend to enjoy a lot of the products from the in-house brand, Sephora. Some of the products suck but a lot of them are surprisingly awesome! Either way, Sephora products are relatively inexpensive. As such, I picked up a Liquid Lipstick and a Mascara… from Sephora… by Sephora… at Sephora.

Sephora Outrageous Volume – Dramatic Volume Mascara retails for KD 3/250

This mascara‘s unique triple load brush intensely coats lashes in one easy stroke for a full, luscious look. The thick, Ultra Black formula is enriched with hyaluronic acid—an ingredient recognized for its moisturizing properties. Use the brush’s reservoirs to intensify lashes from root to tip, separate lashes with the “spiked” areas, or achieve a curved effect by pressing the brush lightly against the tips of the upper lashes.

Honestly, I only purchased this Mascara because it looked so… different. I know it’s meant to have a “quilted effect” design but with the protective plastic wrapped all around it that way, it kinda’ looks more like something out of the movie Alien. I thought that was cool, which is why I got this. That said, I still haven’t gotten around to using Sephora Outrageous Volume – Dramatic Volume Mascara yet because I’m using a handful of other mascaras at the moment, and I don’t like opening all my mascaras at once (lest they dry out).

These are the two Mascaras in this haul side by side

Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in the shade 03 Strawberry Kissed retails for KD 6/000

A silky, long-lasting lip stain that keeps lips covered with bold color from AM to PM—no need to reapply or touch up throughout the day.

This bestselling, high-coverage lip color glides on smooth and transforms from a creamy texture into a silky, lightweight stain. Infused with avocado oil, the long-lasting formula delivers rich color that feels comfortable, is never sticky, and won’t dry out lips.

The options are (nearly) limitless! This stain comes in matte and satin finishes, and a wide range of richly-pigmented colors.

There was a stack of these chilling on one of the side shelves (the ones that usually display the latest Perfume or smaller Sephora Palettes) and this particular shade really spoke to me. There’s actually been a lot of hype in Kuwait, surrounding the Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick. Upon closer inspection, I read that this particular shade was named Strawberry Kissed and that settled it for me. I had to get this thing! I’ve mentioned it several times before on my blog, but I was absolutely smitten with a Revlon Lipstick called Strawberry Suede (gorgeous pinky-red shade with a matte finish) that has long since been discontinued. As such, I’m always on the hunt for a good dupe. The fact that this Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick (could the name be any longer?) is a gorgeous pinky-red shade, and is actually called Strawberry Kissed can only mean one thing… prayers do get answered! Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced this thing (you know when you stash something somewhere so you won’t forget it, but end up accidentally forgetting where you stashed it).

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Berlin retails for KD 7/500

Lastly, I picked up yet another Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick, in the shade Berlin this time. Berlin is described as a warm rose. Aside from potentially being another dupe for Revlon Strawberry Suede Lipstick, I tend to enjoy warmer pinks, in general. Plus, it seemed like would be particularly flattering with my FreshKon Colored Contacts in the shade Baby Aqua. Even the name really appealed to me. Berlin aside from being the capital of Germany, is also the name of an 80’s band, who were responsible for songs such as “Take My Breathe Away” (featured in the movie Top Gun) and the song “The Metro” (which I only discovered while playing the Zombies in Spaceland map on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (Xbox One). Honestly, Berlin just sounds cool (especially if you say it with a heavy German accent)! Unfortunately, Berlin seems to be hiding out with Strawberry Kissed because I can’t seem to find either one of them at the moment which is a bit frustrating. I’m sure they’ll turn up soon (I hope).

These are the two Liquid Lipsticks in this haul side by side. That’s it, I’m not going to purchase another Liquid Lipstick from Sephora or Kat Von D again, until these two turn up again. Watch them be somewhere really dumb, like in the drawer where I stash my sunglasses lawl
