On the last day of the Perfume & Makeup Exhibition (Mishref Fair Grounds during October-November 2016) I came across the Bioderma booth. I hate Bioderma Micellar Water (story below) but I figure it’s been 5 years since my horrible experience, so why not let bygones be bygones? They had several good deals on a lot of their stuff. I’ve always loved a good facial mist (my first was from Evian back in 2000) so the Hydrabio Moisturizing anti-UV Water Mist caught my attention straight away. I mean… it hydrates your skin, protects your skin from UV rays, feels refreshing (a must in Kuwait) and sets your makeup! Basically, this stuff is perfect for summer! They were having some sort of deal where if you bought 2 cans you’d get a discount as opposed to buying just 1 can and paying full price for it. They kept trying to push products on me but I straight up told them that I absolutely hate Bioderma and was only willing to mend fences just recently (literally when I laied eyes on the Hydrabio Mist lawl). I figure since I was going to be stuck in line waiting to pay for my purchase anyway, might as well get something else from the brand. It was a spur of the moment thing, but I snagged a pack of Sensibio H2O Wipes because I like cleansing wipes, in general. It didn’t even occur to me (until I got back home) that these were red… and the Bioderma Micellar Water (that I’d used in the past) was red… so they were from the same line (red packaging)… and these wipes were soaked in that very same useless Micellar Water that I’d had a horrible experience with in the past. At the very least, they tossed in a whole bunch of samples (since it was the last day of Beautycon … or at least the Kuwaiti version of it), which is always fun! Here’s hoping it all works out… I’m going to be “cautiously optimistic”!
I’m not a huge fan of the Bioderma Micellar Water. In fact, if anything, I’m the exact opposite. I remember there was a Bioderma frenzy especially after Lisa Eldrige posted a video of her French Pharmacie Skincare Favourites. Everyone was scrambling to get their hands on the infamous red-capped bottle and as soon as they did, they’d get on YouTube, proudly displaying it in their skincare routine videos, all the while singing it non-stop praises. I’m woman enough to admit that even I fell for the hype and was lusting after the infamous red-capped bottle of Micellar Water. At the time, I didn’t even know what Micellar Water was but it sounded awesome! Sadly, as I’ve mentioned before, due to shipping restrictions on the mail-forwarding service that I used (Aramex), I couldn’t order a huge bottle of anything (liquid, cream, gel, etc…) because it was considered a shipping hazard.
Around spring-time (2012) I was prepping for my upcoming honeymoon in Thailand and happened to be at Boots (Avenues) searching for some proper Sun Protection products when I noticed a display of cute little travel-size bottles (100ml) of the infamous red-capped Bioderma Micellar Water (score!). I was going to be traveling soon… the Bioderma Micellar Water was only available in travel-size… I mean… clearly this was meant to be! I took it along with me to Thailand, but also brought a tube of my beloved Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Makeup Remover and thank goodness for that! I didn’t wear much makeup when I was in Phuket because, well, I’m not insane (also Phuket is humid AF). In fact, I didn’t even apply any sun protection at first but quickly learned my lesson after getting a severe sunburn (my feet swelled up to triple their size making it impossible to fit them into any one of my sandals LOL and my eyelids swelled up as well and became extremely hooded, which I thought was insanely hilarious, but everyone else freaked out and kept asking me if I’d been bitten or stung by anything while swimming in the sea). The next day, at the hospital, the doctor let me go after prescribing a whole bunch of pills because apparently I’m “allergic” to the sun (Me! A desert girl! Born and raised in a desert country. Lived in a desert all my life and still living there. Allergic to the sun? LOL)
Hmmm this tangent has gone on long enough. Long story even longer, in Bangkok (capital of Thailand) I wore a little bit of makeup for date night (where my husband-at-the-time and I, would go out to a nice restaurant for dinner or whatevs). Back at the hotel (Baiyoke Sky Hotel) I began my attempts to remove my minimal makeup using Bioderma Micellar Water. At first, I used it exactly the same way I’d use my cold cream cleansers and just swiped it across my lids. It did remove the eyeshadow but that was pretty much it. So I tried again by soaking the cotton pad with even more Micellar Water and holding it against my eye (hoping it would break down the mascara). After a good long while, the mascara was still there. What’s worse is that this stuff gave me foggy vision and left some sort of residue too (pet peeve). I was irritated at this point and started profusely scrubbing the cotton pad back and forth all over my eyelid. It wasn’t even a waterproof mascara and I hadn’t even applied that much because Bangkok is pretty humid as well but the mascara stayed put. I gave up on the Bioderma Micellar Water and pulled out my trusty Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Makeup Remover which removed all traces of makeup off my face in a matter of minutes (if not seconds). Back in Kuwait, I made several attempts to make the Bioderma Micellar Water work for me but it just did not remove my mascara (regardless of which kind of mascara I was using). That’s why I hate it. I hate Bioderma Micellar Water. In fact, I hate it so much, I never ever tried using Micellar Water (from any brand) ever again!

The creamy skin care generating hydration and intense radiance
The patented biological complex Aquagenium™ generates intense hydration, immediately and lastingly:
-Vitamin PP strengthens skin resistance and impermeability
-Apple seed extract stimulates the activity of Aquaporins, which are the natural channels allowing water flow within the skin.
The rich and creamy texture of Hydrabio Crème intensely nourishes the skin.
Thanks to an emulsion inspired by the structure of the epidermis, the active ingredients of the Aquagénium™ patent penetrate deeply and in a more targeted manner. The skin thus regains its natural hydration capacities, for intense radiance. In a lasting way.
Smoothes skin texture
By eliminating dead cell and reducing progressively the corneum stratum thickness, the salicylic acid evens up and smoothes the skin, for a long-lasting radiant complexion.

I’m super excited about the samples! It’s not like they gave me one or two of each. They gave me four or five of each! That means I’ll be able to really get a good feel for each! The Hydrabio Crème can definitely double as a makeup base! Sensibio Forte is gonna’ come in pretty handy when I get my brows threaded! I don’t have dandruff but dandruff eliminating shampoos like the Nodé DS+ make excellent deep cleansing and build-up removal shampoo which I love! Photoderm MAX Aquafluide SPF 50+ makes it easier to remember to apply sun protection, while on the go! So far, the Sensibio H2O Wipes seem to be doing a pretty good job at completely removing every single trace of glitter (Colourpop Highlighters) off my face without irritating my skin and the Hydrabio Moisturizing anti-UV Water Mist makes a satisfying clacking sound whenever I shake it up before using it to mist my face (very fine mist) for a refreshing, quick pick-me-up (smells nice too) during Kuwait’s unbearably hot summer!
I still haven’t compltely forgiven Bioderma but we’re slowly getting there ^_~
