Hello Verbena, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again~
Brace yourselves, people. Are you ready for this? I’ve found “The One”! I know I say that about every other deodorant (which for some reason gets discontinued almost immediately after I say that) but I truly and genuinely have fallen in love with Suave Almond Verbena Anti-Perspirant!
First of all (let me just get this out of the way), we don’t do Suave in Kuwait (it’s not as readily available for purchase in stores over here). I remember watching in envy as girls hauled their Suave products (which mostly consisted of what sounded like fantastically scented Hair Care and the occasional equally great scented Body Wash) on YouTube, but as is customary in Kuwait, I resigned myself to never seeing anything from Suave in stores over here. So imagine my delight when I came across a whole slew of products from the extremely budget-friendly brand Suave at our very own local Sultan Center!
Generally, I prefer roll-on deodorants over solid deodorants because the solid ones tend to be all-around messier (crumbling all over the place after every use). Even the packaging starts to look pretty ratchet almost immediately because you’ve got fall-out spilling over the sides (as you can hopefully tell from the photo above where I literally just opened the thing on-camera and it still had fall-out regardless). It’s annoying but it’s not a deal-breaker. However, solid deodorants almost always leave white streaks on my clothing (especially on the hip area, when I’m hurriedly changing into a darker top) which I feel is quite embarrassing and therefore a deal-breaker. Those white streaks aren’t exactly the easiest thing in the world to get rid of especially when you’re in a hurry. I don’t have to deal with any of that when it comes to Roll-On Deodorant because everything stays cute and intact and most importantly doesn’t leave any marks on my clothing whatsoever. The only caveat with roll-ons is that not all of them are effective anti-perspirants or even deodorants for that matter (as evident by the OE Vanilla Isle Deodorant I’d reviewed earlier). Seeing as how I’ve had to kiss my sedimentary lifestyle goodbye (in my efforts to look more like Negan), a decent antiperspirant is a must! As such, not only was I delighted when I came across a Suave deodorant but elated when I noted that it was in the Almond Verbena scent! I don’t even know what Almond Verbena is supposed to smell like but doesn’t it sound lovely? I mean Jergens Moisturizer in the Original Scent (Cherry-Almond) is my favorite moisturizer of all-time, so that should tell you how I feel about almond-scented products. I was expecting the Almond to bring a little bit of sweetness to the mix. Also, I’m a die-hard fan of Verbena (always and forever) so I figured this stuff would have a zesty uplifting scent as well. Suave Almond Verbana smelled nothing like I expected it to! It actually smelled way better! It was a lovely clean scent (Verbena) with a hint of sweetness (I’m pretty sure it’s the Almond) that I found addictive! Every time I’d raise my arms for whatever reason (for example, to tie my hair up in a ponytail using my trusty scrunchie) I’d get a whiff of Almond Verbena (I know, I know, TMI. Sorry!) and purr to myself in delight (because it’s completely normal for people to purr to themselves, obviously). The scent isn’t exactly a dupe of my beloved long-discontinued Dove Go Fresh Energizing Anti-Perspirant (Grapefruit & Lemongrass) or the Nivea Happy Time Anti-Perspirant (Bamboo & Orange) but the scent of Suave Almond Verbena Anti-Perspirant is in the same vein as those scents. Also, it didn’t sting when applied to freshly waxed/shaved underarms! It still had the issues I mentioned earlier (fall-out, white streaks, and such) but based on its stellar performance and excellent scent, I’m head over heels for Suave Almond Verbena Anti-Perspirant!
