I forgot to mention this in my previous post but I visited the Jo Malone Boutique again recently (December 2016). It took me forever to find the store (this was about two or so years ago from my initial purchase when I first stumbled upon them). I wanted to purchase a Jo Malone Cologne as a gift for someone very dear to me, my sister-in-law. Unfortunately, we seem to have polar opposite tastes as she can’t stand anything remotely sweet-scented. In fact, I’m pretty sure my gourmand fragrances have given her a headache at one point or another but she was too polite to say anything (I had to figure it out on my own). Luckily, Jo Malone had a newer fragrance that seemed to suit my sophisticated sister-in-law, Nashi Blossom Cologne. Based on the notes and product description, I should’ve been in love with this scent but all I got from it was delicate florals (not my thing) which is why I thought it would appeal to my elegant sister-in-law. She’s not a product junkie like myself but I figured if she was “in the know” she’d be delighted that I’d gotten her something from Jo Malone. Not only was my sister-in-law already well acquainted with Jo Malone but she also seemed to enjoy the scent that I’d picked out for her, which was gratifying for me. Apparently, Jo Malone Cologne retails for KD52/000 whereas Jo Malone Cologne Intense retails for KD58/000, as you can see by the receipt. Obviously, I can’t show you the Nashi Blossom Cologne because it was gift-wrapped in-store.

The lovely sales assistant was extremely helpful in assisting me to find a scent for my sister-in-law. This was a different sales assistant from the last time (about two years back) but just like the previous sales assistant, she didn’t hover over me unless I asked her a question, to which she would give a pertinent answer. In fact, I found her so charming that I struck up a conversation with her while she gift-wrapped my purchase. She also tossed in a bunch of samples for me, unprompted. So I asked her about the previous samples I’d received earlier (if they were part of a promotion or…?). She said Jo Malone don’t usually have promotions and whatnot. They just hand out complimentary samples to paying customers.

Lime Basil & Mandarin Body Crème
Our signature fragrance. Peppery basil and aromatic white thyme bring an unexpected twist to the scent of limes on a Caribbean breeze. A modern classic. Our luxuriously rich Body Crème with its conditioning oils of jojoba seed, cocoa seed and sweet almond, help to hydrate, nourish and protect the skin, while delicious signature fragrances leave your body scented all over.

English Pear & Freesia Body Crème
The essence of autumn. The sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears is wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias, and mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods. Luscious and golden.

Pomegranate Noir Cologne
The sensuality of a daring red dress. Ruby-rich juices of pomegranate, raspberry and plum are spiked with pink pepper and laced with Casablanca lily and spicy woods. Dark and enigmatic.

Top Note – Pomegranate
Heart Note – Casablanca Lily
Base Note – Guaiac Wood

The wonderful sales assistant also informed me about a new fragrance they were debuting a week later called Myrrh & Tonka. Like I said before, I’m not exactly sure what Tonka is but as far as I know, any fragrance that has Tonka Bean listed in it’s notes usually tends to have some sweetness (almost like vanilla). Sadly, I couldn’t make it to the event (work was crazy hectic and everyone decided to pop out a baby during that week so between my work responsibilities and social obligations I couldn’t make time to feed my shopping addiction) but I did go back to check out Myrrh & Tonka, eventually. Once again, very impressed with Jo Malone! Impeccable presentation, complimentary gift-wrapping, complimentary samples, and warm customer service that makes shopping at Jo Malone an all-together very pleasant experience!
