Growing up, just like a lot of other kids who grew up in the 90’s, I used to be obsessed with Archie comics as I mentioned in my Book Club post (here).
So the fact that my beloved Archie comics is being turned into a tv series (finally) is a dream come true!
Even better is the fact that it’s by The CW who’ve come out with so many girly-girl shows such as Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill (one of my all-time favorites), Privileged, 90210 (remake), Melrose Place (remake), The Secret Circle, The Carrie Diaries, Star-Crossed (so good!), Reign, The 100, and The Vampire Diaries. They’ve also got several non-girly-girl shows under their belt too such as Supernatural (love), Arrow (stopped watching it after a few seasons), The Flash (only saw pilot), Supergirl (never gonna’ watch it), Legends of Tomorrow (watch it while cleaning house), and the list goes on. What I’m trying to say is Riverdale has the potential to be ah-mazing!
One of my fave characters in the Archie comics was Jughead so I hope they portray him as accurately as possible.
I mentioned earlier in my post about the tv show OZ (here) that Luke Perry would be playing a character on Riverdale. So glad he’s not playing a teen like he did in the original Beverly Hills 90210 even though he was around 80 years old (give or take) back then.
The first episode premiered on January 26 2017.
Finally, here’s the trailer (warning spoiler alert).
