A gel-cream formula effective for 24 hour hydration. Specially formulated for dry and sensitive skin, the formula combines ingredients that work to soothe and nourish skin. Rose Extract was selected for its soothing and softening properties. Enriched with Vitamin E, known for its anti-oxidant properties, the formula hydrates and helps to protect the skin. If your skin feels dry and sensitive and if you are looking for a daily cream that soothes, nourishes and leaves skin feeling more comfortable then this is the product for you.
I hauled this 24 Hour Day Cream (Rose) from the Essentials line by the brand Garnier in this post – here. As I stated earlier, the rose on the packaging is what drew me in to this product because I’ve come to adore the clean, powdery, scent of roses and assumed this Day Cream would have that scent. Unfortunately, I did not detect the scent of roses on this thing, at all. That said, it did smell like a face cream, which is an inoffensive scent, and at times, can be pleasant.
The 50ml packaging is extremely cheap (plastic), with no sustainable weight to it, which isn’t a surprise since this was such an inexpensive product (less than KD1) but I actually think it looks pretty cute! I mean… it’s pink! The fact that this weighs next to nothing is also a plus because it means you can toss this in any bag (work, gym, travel, purse, etc…) and not be weighed down by it, regardless of the fact that it’s actually a full-sized product. It’s even compact enough to fit in my top drawer at my desk at work (which happens to be the most shallow drawer).
I love, love, love the light-weight formula! It feels hydrating without being overly greasy, which means I never feel like my face is sweating after applying it. Not only does this apply smoothly but it absorbs quickly and easily into my skin, to the extent that I can apply my makeup right after, or go to sleep straight away (which is more likely). I’ll just use my index finger or middle finger to dot this around my face and smooth it in. That’s it. Very minimal effort.
Best of all, it doesn’t have any “whitening” ingredients (which basically bleach the skin) or “anti-aging” ingredients (like Retinol for example, which means you’ll have to avoid the sun). It’s just a regular face cream (no muss, no fuss) which also happens to leave my skin feeling slightly softer, which fits my needs perfectly. That said, if you’ve got particularly dry and flake-y skin, I genuinely believe a heavier moisturizer would be more suited to counteract those issues. I’ve talked about the difference between Summer Moisturizers and Winter Moisturizers – here. Garnier Skin Naturals Essentials 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream (Rose) is most definitely a Summer Moisturizer. In my case, in addition to the harsh face wash that I use, I also tend to exfoliate my face (and body) regularly, so my skin is always somewhat dry (and squeaky clean) and this day cream seemed to sufficiently hydrate my skin all year long, up until the temperature dropped. Keep in mind that I generally tend to neglect my skin, meaning anything I do, is a step up. Overall, I enjoyed using the Garnier Day Cream (Rose) and will definitely be repurchasing this again in the future. If you want a refreshing, unscented, light-weight moisturizer that’s inexpensive and can be found in almost any drugstore in the world, I suggest you give this a try.
