Who is Mickey Contractor, and why can’t about a billion people live without him? The answer involves breaking out into song and dance, because long before Glee, Mickey made the dashing heroes and exotic enchantresses of Bollywood Cinema into the famous faces throngs of fans want to look like. As M·A·C’s Director of Makeup Artistry for India, he’s more than an icon to a glamorous Eastern audience – he has mentored in-the-know Artists around the world for over three decades. These exclusive collections of Mickey’s musts are all about natural skin tonality and total performance, in addition to colour with a touch of exotic cine-magic. Foundation, Concealer, Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder, goddess-gorgeous Eye shades, Lipstick, Lipglass and Blush, with his favourite brushes to star in your own big Bollywood hit.
So Mickey C is supposed to be this amazing makeup artist and since I was having trouble with shades that were nude-y on most people coming across as mauve-y on me, I figured I’d try a couple of the lipglasses and a pre-concealer type thingy (I know I know. I have a way with words. It’s a gift, I tells ya’). I also picked up my first ever fluidlines from MAC in 2 gorgeous shades.
World, meet Ivy and Siahi. Girls, (yes I refer to Ivy and Siahi as girls. Issues…), meet the world. Ivy is described as a bright green with a frost finish. Siahi (which means Ink in Hindi) is described as deep turquoise blue with a frost finish. Ivy is a shimmery yellow green. Siahi is a heart-breakingly gorgeous dark teal. Siahi is what I wanted all the blues I’ve previously purchased to be. It’s just perfection! Siahi would look fantastic on everyone. Ivy is a little bit trickier though because it’s much frostier.
Ivy kinda’ remind me of MAC’s Minted.
Next is the Moisturecover Double-End Concealer in Yellow Corrector/Coral Corrector and like I said before, slap coral on anything and I will buy it because I’m just sick that way. Everyone is always going on and on about the Ben Nye Banana Powder so I figured the yellow corrector could sorta’ be a dupe. The yellow corrector does brighten beautifully but I prefer the coral corrector especially when I’m wearing colored contact lenses because it’s just what I like on myself. I could be wrong though… walking around thinking I’m all fierce when in reality I’m actually sporting panda eyes. Who knows?
The 2 lipglasses I got are Flesh and Lust. Flesh is described as a dirty nude brown while Lust is described as a soft muted pink. Flesh is a very strange shade. I’m not sure how to define it but dirty nude brown doesn’t even begin to cover it. It has strange undertones to it which I guess would work on Indian skintones. I guess olive would be the closest I could compare it to. Yes it looks like an Olive nude. I figure this is as close as MAC will ever come to putting out a collection geared towards Arab women so I picked these two up thinking they would look flattering on me but unfortunately they don’t. Don’t worry Mickey C, I won’t hold it against you. My skintone confuses everyone.
