I purchased this eyeshadow in pan form (refill) as opposed to pot form which is what I usually get because I mistakenly assumed that I’d run out of this pretty quickly.
If you’ve never purchased a refill from MAC before, this is what it looks like. The first photo was what it looks like from the front, and this is what it looks like from the back.
The pan has a black magnet on it. On the magnet is a sticker with the name of the eyeshadow. The shadow comes housed in this paper sleeve, with a transparent front, and cut-out back so you are able to see the color and the name clearly.
I could go on and on in my attempt to this describe this to you or I could just show you a couple more photos so you can get the idea.
This is what it looks like once you pop out the pan.
Ah, carbon. This eyeshadow is the worst MAC eyeshadow I’ve ever come across. Carbon has a matte finish and althought MAC makes several fantastic matte eyeshadows this is certainly not one of them. It’s hard to get this product on any brush. Once you do though, it’s hard to make the product adhere to your skin. If you somehow manage that, it’s hard to apply the product evenly.
There are many matte black eyeshadows in the market that are better than Carbon, including but not limited to MAC.
Here’s a swatch of it on my finger. It’s not even that deep of a black. I wonder… does anyone actually use Carbon?
Finally, here’s a swatch of it on my arm. You can clearly see how patchy it is. Who would wanna work with an eyeshadow like that? Carbon is one of the fussiest eyeshadows I’ve ever come across. Skip it!
Worth noting: You cannot Back to MAC eyeshadows in pan form (refills).
