Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne Wash

Back Camera

Hello lovelies,

Since I’m on a skincare kick, I figure why not keep it going? As I’ve mentioned before, my skin is a combination of dry skin with an oily T-zone so I’ve never really suffered from much acne or other skin-related problems but as an adult, I figure I should add more products to my pretty much spartan skincare regimen. Face scrubs are great for exfoliation once or twice a week but I wanted something to use on the daily, so I picked up the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne Wash for a few KDs from the local supermarket mainly because it was pink and apparently I’m drawn to pink packaging or pink liquid… basically all things pink.

After using this acne-wash on my non-acneic (not sure if that’s even a real word but whatevs) skin, I noticed that it dried out my cheeks and chin area considerably and since I’m not big on facial moisturizers, this created a problem for me where there was none before so I decided to just use this stuff on my oily T-zone and hey presto, problem solved! After I figured out how to make this stuff work for me, I noticed that not only was my forehead and nose oil-free (read: shine-free) for longer, but my skin was even softer than ever (keep in mind that I’m guilty of not regularly moisturizing my face). As an added bonus, my girlfriends noticed that my skin was glowy (you’d think it would have the opposite effect but apparently not) and once they pointed it out, I noticed it too and loved it so much that I started dabbing a little on my nose and rinsing it with water more often to sustain that “glowy effect”. I know, I know. Who would want a glowy nose? It sounds counter-productive, but trust me, it’s the natural version of the Kim K concealer trick.

As for the smell, I’ve never really liked grapefruit but this stuff smells amazing! It makes cleansing my face that much more pleasurable because the sharp, tangy, sweet scent is such a pleasant one. That said, when I use this at the bathroom sink it smells great but if I use this in the shower for whatever reason, it makes my palms smell funky, like chemicals or medicine. I guess it doesn’t mix well with other products so I wouldn’t really recommend using this in the shower.

I’ve quickly worked my way through one bottle (I suspect my hubby had a hand in that) and decided not to buy this again because I wanted to try out other products but as you can see from the photo above, I’ve picked up yet another one just because I missed the “glowy effect” it  had on my skin, particularly my nose. I just prefer having this on hand, knowing it’s there if I ever needed it, but I don’t use it nearly as often as I used to. I’d suggest you try it, and see how you like it for yourself.
