Chanel Taupe Grisé Soft Touch Eyeshadow

Chanel Soft Touch Eyeshadow in the shade Taupe Grisé (KD11/000) is part of Chanel’s Fall ’10 Collection. It is a limited edition item and is not part of the permanent line. I purchased the last peice from Sephora (Avenues) around November and have been showing it a lot of love ever since. That said, Taupe Grisé is still available at the Chanel counter at Debenhams (Souq Sharq) in case any of you lovelies are interested in purchasing it.

Taupe Grisé truly is a beautiful taupe that’s a dream to work with! It’s got an ultra soft powder consistency that’s smooth as buttah! It looks as if you spent hours and hours of blending to come up with such a complex shade when all it takes is just one swipe. It’s quite pigmented, as opposed to colors that look pretty in the pan but barely show up once you apply them. It’s also true to color, what you see in the pan is exactly what you get, a true taupe.

It’s buildable and has dual use, meaning you can build up the color for more intensity and you can even use this wet or dry. You can wear this on your eyelids as an all over wash of color, or blend it into the crease with other colors. Taupe Grisé a universally flattering color on everyone that’s subtle enough for daytime and sexy enough for the evening.

It’s a bit pricey for a single eyeshadow (0.07 OZ) or (2 grams) but this is Chanel we’re talking about and they won’t let you forget it. They’ve got their logo embossed on practically everything including the actual eyeshadow itself, so there ya’ go. They kinda’ make up for it with the luxe packaging. As you can see from the first photo, the eyeshadow comes in a sleek black compact (hello there fingerprints!) encased in a black felt pouch. Inside the compact is the clear plastic divider that holds the little eyeshadow applicator (which also has a miniscule Chanel logo on it) and seperates the eyeshadow from the mirror.

Here are a couple of  swatches of Taupe Grisé in natural lighting (sunlight). Photos are in HD (high defintion) hence true to the actual color. Pinky Finger: Swiped Heavily (two swipes), Ring Finger: Swiped Lightly (one swipe). P.S. My nails look yellow because I’m wearing China Glaze in “Lemon Fizz”.

Is it gray?

Is it brown?

Nope, it’s taupe!
